The Space

Finca del Sol is a small, family-run eco-lodge situated on the slopes of Volcano Madaras. The property spans 11.5 acres, with over two-thirds covered by tropical dry forest. This natural setting offers guests the chance to observe a variety of wildlife, including howler monkeys, rabbits, frogs, and numerous bird and butterfly species.

The private bungalow is a charming hexagonal structure featuring a hand-woven thatch roof and cob-style walls designed to keep the interior cool throughout the year. It measures approximately 350 square feet, including the porch, and provides stunning sunset views of Volcano Conception. The cabin is perched on a hillside with refreshing breezes and a spacious private garden.

Inside, the bungalow includes:

• A double bed with an orthopedic mattress and mosquito netting
• Private bathroom with hot water shower and shampoo
• Purified drinking water

• Seating area
• Two hammocks with beautiful views for relaxing or reading
• Porch overlooking the garden and volcano

Daily housekeeping is provided, including bathroom cleaning and bed making. Full cleaning is done upon departure. Fresh sheets or towels are available upon request.

The eco-lodge is within walking distance of the beach, restaurants, grocery stores, and hiking trails. The surrounding tropical dry forest is home to various wildlife, and it is common to see and hear monkeys daily.

Guest Access

Guests have full access to the tropical dry forest and organic farmland on the property. The common areas provide opportunities to socialize, enjoy breakfast outdoors, and connect with nature. The environment is ideal for meditation, yoga, and relaxation.

Additional Information

• The key is available on-site between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Late check-ins require prior arrangement via email.
• The hosts live on the property but may come and go during the day, so guests are encouraged to communicate their arrival times.
• Friendly dogs reside on the property, creating a welcoming, home-like atmosphere.
• The property is rich in wildlife, including birds, butterflies, bees, monkeys, frogs, toads, spiders, and small bats. These animals are non-aggressive and pose no danger to humans.
• The only venomous animal on the island is the timid coral snake, which is rarely seen. Ometepe Island is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve known for its natural beauty and biodiversity.
