The Space

Ometepe Casitas offers a cabin with a private kitchen located on a tranquil and picturesque lakefront property in El Peru, Ometepe. Guests can swim at the calm beach while enjoying breathtaking views of both Maderas and Concepcion volcanoes. Kayaks are available for rent, allowing visitors to paddle up the Istian River.

For those wishing to explore the island, scooters can be rented. Alternatively, guests can relax on the beach or terrace, watching the sunset while observing monkeys and hundreds of birds and parrots returning to the nearby trees.

The property includes a lakefront house with a second-floor terrace accessible to guests, a beach gazebo, parking space, and three cabins spaced approximately six meters apart. Each casita accommodates two guests. If you are booking for a larger group, the other two tiny homes are located nearby on the map.

Location and Access

The property is situated on an island that is a natural reserve, offering a unique environment rich in wildlife. The 700-meter dirt road leading to the casitas is mostly flat and generally better maintained than many other dirt roads on the island. However, after heavy rains, some sections may become rocky. Driving slowly is advised, and a vehicle with slightly higher clearance is beneficial.

Important Notes

Power outages are common during heavy rain, strong winds, or routine network maintenance. The property is equipped with rechargeable fans and lights to help during these times. Although extreme weather may impact the island’s internet, solar-powered routers generally keep Wi-Fi operational even without electricity.

Because Ometepe is a natural reserve, the island hosts a variety of insects, mammals, birds, and reptiles. While the indoor areas have been bug-proofed as much as possible, guests may still encounter small ants, geckos, or occasionally non-venomous scorpions or spiders. These creatures are generally slow-moving and can be removed easily. It is recommended to keep doors closed to prevent flying insects from entering the cabins.
