Overview

The Space

Our self-contained suite, an extension of the main house, accommodates up to four guests. It includes:

• A fully equipped kitchen with a buffet bar, perfect for socializing while preparing meals
• A living room featuring a pull-out sofa bed and an adjoining three-piece bathroom
• A bedroom offering a choice between twin beds or a king-size bed, connected to a private three-piece bathroom
• TVs located in both the living room and bedroom
• Large windows facing the pool that fill the space with natural light
• An adjacent outdoor terrace ideal for barbecuing or relaxing with a book

Location

Situated just above the thriving town of Escazu on the verdant mountainside of the Central Valley, our property offers a peaceful retreat. Escazu is known for its embassies, upscale shops, and restaurants, making it a popular suburb of San Jose and home to many expatriates.

Although our home sits 300 meters above the town, it is only a 15-minute drive to these amenities. The drive up the mountain passes through a mix of architecturally designed luxury homes, small pastures with cattle or horses, and traditional farming scenes such as farmers leading oxen. Higher elevations feature vegetable and coffee farms, forest reserves, and hiking trails. The area is rich with tropical trees, palms, and vibrant flowering plants.

Access to the property requires transportation by car, bus, or taxi/Uber. Walking up the mountain from Escazu is recommended only for those seeking a vigorous hike rather than a casual stroll.

Guests have full use of:

• A secure garage
• The Airbnb suite and its terrace with barbecue facilities
• The solar-heated pool and hot water jacuzzi
• The billiard patio, which includes a regulation-sized billiard table

About the Host

John is a Canadian who has visited Costa Rica multiple times since 1999. He splits his time between Escazu and Toronto. His wife, Ivonne, is a Costa Rican citizen and fluent Spanish speaker. Together, they offer personalized support to ensure your trip meets your expectations.

John’s love for Costa Rica began with a memorable vacation in 1999. Over the years, he explored various regions of the country and developed a deep appreciation for its tropical landscapes, wildlife, and warm, welcoming people. In 2021, he retired and purchased a home with a pool overlooking San Jose in Escazu. He then added the Airbnb suite, named “Mountain Vista,” to share the “Pura Vida” lifestyle with visitors.
