The Space

Casa del Lago sits along a natural, unspoiled coastline with a private rocky shoreline where local flora and fauna flourish. It provides a peaceful place to relax after exploring Isla de Ometepe.

The open-concept home features 10-foot (3-meter) ceilings, numerous windows, and a spacious sunroom overlooking Lake Cocibolca and Concepción Volcano. Maderas Volcano is also visible from the front of the house.

The front porch is supported by two Madero Negro tree posts and includes a comfortable hammock area.

Living Room

The living room includes:

Primary Bedroom

The spacious primary bedroom has a comfortable king-size bed, floor-to-ceiling ventilated wooden closets, and bedside tables made from locally sourced natural hardwood.

The en suite bathroom is spacious and beautifully tiled. It includes:

The second bedroom has large, secure, screened windows and includes:

• Locally made, handcrafted wooden bunk bed
• Two single beds
• Large mirror

The main bathroom is beautifully tiled and features:

• Spacious, well-lit shower
• Modern dual-flush toilet
• Sink area with excellent lighting
• Large illuminated mirror

Outdoor Areas

The property includes handcrafted wooden furniture, three rocking chairs, and an outdoor table for relaxing.

Three hand-carved benches provide excellent spots for enjoying views of the lake and volcanoes, including beautiful sunsets. There is also a solid-wood picnic table and barbecue for outdoor meals.

The grounds feature a variety of fruit trees, flowers, and coffee bushes, including:

• Mango trees
• Coconut trees
• Orange trees
• Lime trees
• Passion fruit vines
• Coffee bushes

Guests are welcome to enjoy the fruit during their stay.

Wildlife and Nature

Casa del Lago is an excellent destination for bird lovers. Many bird species visit the majestic ceiba trees on the property. Ometepe is home to one of the largest remaining populations of yellow-naped parrots, and these endangered birds often visit the trees in the early afternoon.

Howler monkeys also come to the high canopy to feed in the early morning and evening. They remain high in the trees and do not come down, offering opportunities to observe and photograph them in their natural habitat.

Isla de Ometepe is a tropical island and UNESCO biosphere reserve with a remarkable variety of flora and fauna. The home has full screens on all windows to help keep insects outside, although some insects may occasionally enter.

The home includes several environmentally conscious features:

The solar system helps provide power during the island’s frequent electricity outages. It usually powers the house, except for the air-conditioning units.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the full property and beach area.

Additional Information

• The maximum occupancy is six people, with no exceptions.
• Only registered guests may stay at the property.
• Additional guests are not permitted.
• Rentals are limited to a maximum of two weeks.
• For stays longer than two days, housekeeping is provided every second day at no additional cost.
• Laundry service is available for a fee upon request.
• Exterior cameras monitor the driveway and areas around the outside of the home.
• Although Ometepe Island is very safe, all windows have security bars for additional protection.
• The house manual is available online after check-in.
