Casa Gruta is an award-winning home located in the heart of Valladolid, just steps from the Convent of San Bernardino de Siena. Inspired by the water and earth that shape Yucatán’s natural landscape, the house offers a peaceful retreat for guests who appreciate architecture, art, and thoughtful design.
The property has been recognized with the National Architecture and Design Award from AAI and featured in interior design magazines.
The Space
Upon arrival, a beautiful poplar tree frames the house, whose green walls introduce a journey of contrasting textures and contemplative spaces.
Casa Gruta features three air-conditioned bedrooms, all located on the ground floor and designed to encourage rest and connection with nature:
- The first bedroom includes a private bathroom, an outdoor bathtub, and an outdoor shower for relaxing in complete privacy.
- The second bedroom offers an intimate retreat with a private bathroom and a contemplative garden.
- The third and largest bedroom has a private bathroom and a circular outdoor bathtub at room temperature, located in a circular interior courtyard. It is ideal for enjoying a peaceful atmosphere without leaving the room.
The house’s corridors and pathways are designed to engage the senses. At its center, a vaulted terrace surrounds a swimming pool and includes a comfortable living area and an outdoor dining space for sharing meals and relaxing.
The fully equipped kitchen is located beside the terrace. It can be opened completely, extending the kitchen into the main communal area.
On the second level, a rooftop with a bar provides an ideal place to observe the sky and stars while enjoying the quiet surroundings.
The experience culminates on the third level at a viewpoint with 360-degree views of Valladolid, the Pueblo Mágico, allowing you to admire the city from above.
A parking space is available for one large vehicle or two small vehicles.
Casa Gruta is more than a place to stay. Its sheltered pathways and contemplative spaces invite you to slow down, find calm, and connect deeply with your surroundings and senses.

- Because the house is semi-open, you will remain connected to natural elements such as rain, wind, light, shadows, cool temperatures, heat, insects, and local birds.
- You may hear rural sounds typical of Valladolid, including music, parties, fairs, birds, and roosters.
- Our maintenance team can clean rainwater and leaves whenever you request it, at no additional cost.
- Folding chairs for stargazing are available on the rooftop beneath the bar. Please store them if rain is expected.

Staying in Casa Gruta is like living inside of a grand sculpture. Every detail is stunning. The climate is gently cooled with brilliant architecture. The lights, shadows and sounds… the stunning design, all make for an unforgettable experience. I’m extremely grateful to the hosts, who were generous and kind, and most of all, to the designers, who have somehow produced this gem, and decided to share the treasure.

This was one of the most unique, beautiful, and unforgettable Airbnb stays we’ve ever experienced. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the charm and character of the property. If you’re looking for a place with a true wow factor, this is it! The hosts were incredibly friendly, responsive, and attentive to any questions or needs we had throughout our stay. The location was perfect, with wonderful restaurants within walking distance, stunning historic buildings and churches. The town itself was warm and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and are already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommended!

A truly beautiful place to stay in Valladolid. The house is every bit as gorgeous as the photos suggest. Shows all the signs of an architect’s care in the design and details, and there is a really lovely outdoors-indoors feel: the living area is by the pool, which is open to the sky, for instance. Swimming in the rain and then hopping out to have a drink under cover is pretty special. Bedrooms and comfortable and bathrooms well appointed - with great showers. The location is tremendous. Five minutes maximum walk to the main street of restaurants and shops, so super accessible but also quiet. Pau and Andres are lovely hosts - sent loads of great recommendations and were very helpful throughout. And have some great Spotify playlists! Thank you.

An absolute architectural gem. I came to Valladolid specifically to stay at this home. It was everything I expected and more. A wonderful blend of nature and brutalist architecture. The neighborhood is cute and walking distance or short drive from downtown Valladolid. Clean and easy communication throughout my stay. I definitely recommend.

One of the most stunning Airbnbs I’ve ever stayed at. Lounge in a hammock above the pool. Watch the stars while laying on a sofa, or retreat to a private air conditioned room with a garden view. Great brunch spot on the corner of the block, walkable to some really amazing restaurants. A++

We really loved staying 2 nights here. It was exactly as described and pictured. There’s filtered drinking water at the house. The bedrooms are beautiful, comfortable and serene with excellent showers. The kitchen has everything you need including coffee to get you started. We also loved the location just down the block from the convent. Very easy walk to the main square and all there is to see in Valladolid. Hosts were lovely. Excellent stay.
