Central North End Location
Casa Tranquila is in Sayulita’s desirable North End, in a residential neighborhood at the foot of the Nanzal hillsides.
- Five-minute walk to the beach
- Four-minute walk to restaurants
- Ten-minute walk to downtown
- Eleven-minute walk to popular surf breaks
- Mostly gentle, flat terrain
- A medium-sloping hill begins approximately 150 meters before the house, with a total elevation gain of about 30 feet
- No steep hills to climb
- Away from the loud bars and clubs of downtown and the South Side while remaining within easy walking distance
- Convenient access to coffee, brunch, yoga, massage, the beach, and town
You will not need a golf cart to get around this area. The walk home from the beach is relatively flat, with only the final section approaching the house involving a moderate slope.
Clean North Beach
Casa Tranquila is five minutes from a one-kilometer stretch of clean, peaceful sand with plenty of space and beautiful sunsets over Sayulita.
North Beach can have a stronger shore break, but its sand quality, cleanliness, and open space are superior to the main beach. Continuing north brings increasing privacy and silky sand. From October through December, sea-turtle hatchling releases take place each evening, creating a memorable experience for children.
Noise Information
Nighttime Noise
Nighttime sounds at Casa Tranquila generally come from birds rather than nightlife. Sayulita is heavily canopied and home to many jungle birds, including roosters and chachalacas, which may call before dawn. Earplugs are provided.
New Year’s Eve and Carnaval can bring nighttime festivities throughout the wider neighborhood. Earplugs are provided for these occasions as well.
Daytime Noise
Because Casa Tranquila is located at the foot of the Nanzal hillsides along an access road, occasional daytime traffic noise may come from local motorbikes and service vehicles serving the upper-level properties.
- Traffic is intermittent
- It is most frequent on workday mornings, typically after 8:00 a.m.
- Noise is more noticeable when hillside construction or other projects are active
- Evenings are consistently calm and peaceful
The location offers a balance between walkability to Sayulita’s attractions and distance from the all-night clubs of Centro and the South Side.

Casa Tranquila has three large bedrooms, each with air conditioning, a comfortable king-size bed, and a bathroom. All beds have pillow-top layers over firm, supportive mattresses.
- The master bedroom is on the second level, which is also the main floor

- The master bedroom has a shared full bathroom across the hall

Architecture
A Sayulita original, Casa Tranquila reflects the charm and authenticity of the town’s Mexican architectural style.
The home is arranged around the pool and patio, with arcades and columns defining the layout. Wrought-iron-trimmed windows and doors break up the expansive walls, while a Mission tile “teja” sloped roof and overhang complement the “cantera” stone-trimmed ceilings.
Stucco columns are interspersed with potted broad-leaf plants, ferns, flowers, and succulents. At the center of the design are the pool and lush gardens, around which the house is thoughtfully arranged.
Secure Parking
The gated carport provides secure on-site parking and includes a golf cart charging station.
- November through May: accessible by average-sized cars
- June through October: high-clearance vehicles are recommended because heavy rain can wash out the access road
See the seasonal parking information below for additional details.
Privacy and Security
The entire villa and its amenities are private to your group.
- The house, pool, and gardens are enclosed by high walls along the property line
- The walls obscure the home from public view
- The property provides a private and secure tropical retreat
- The contrasting street-facing color makes the home easy to identify

We had a great time. Jennifer was extremely helpful and almost instantly responsive! The house caretakers, Alex and Mariana, were lovely, the house was beautiful and perfectly located. As a family of 4 with two adult/teenage kids, it was total luxury for us to all have our own private spaces and bathrooms! The pool and terrace were amazing. Loved the kitchen and living area and proximity to beach and local shops was fabulous.

The garden, house, covered terrace, and pool were great. Really nice outdoor spaces to enjoy morning coffee and mezcal by the pool. Jennifer, the co-host, responded immediately to all of our questions.

We really enjoyed our stay here! From the initial booking confirmation, Jennifer completely exceeded my expectations for being a responsive host. She gave realistic expectations about the weather (it was hot!), tons of food/surf/yoga/taxi recommendations, and she seemed to respond almost instantly. We had 1 minor issue on arrival, and she had the local property manager there within 15 minutes who addressed the issue (and the local property manager Ilse was lovely too). The house was just as expected. Clean, AC/fans worked great, and all beds were comfortable - we all slept wonderful. My favorite part was evening swims in the private pool. It was hot when we stayed, but an evening dip in the warm pool was actually super refreshing. Thank you again!

Beautiful home, close to the beach, and stocked with everything you need for a perfect beach day. The pool was great, but honestly we didn't use it as much as I thought we would because the beach was so close it always won out. The master bedroom was incredibly comfortable and the AC kept up without issue. A few reviews mentioned rooster noise, and yes some neighbors have roosters and a few rufous-bellied chachalacas seem to live in the trees nearby, but you really only hear them with the windows open. The place is well-built and sound-insulated me and my partner slept well every night and woke up late without earplugs. Michael also provides plenty of earplugs and a white noise machine if you're a lighter sleeper. The views from the roof are even better than the photos suggest I almost feel like the pictures don't do it justice. It's walking distance to both the beach and town, but I'd still recommend renting a golf cart. We saw way more of Sayulita than we would have on foot alone.
