Casa de las Lapas. Monkeys & Macaws!
The Space
Casa de las Lapas in Manuel Antonio is a beautiful family home situated on 2.5 acres of lush tropical forest within a gated residential community of luxury properties. It borders Hotel Gaia’s forest reserve, which hosts the project that reintroduced scarlet macaws to the area, ensuring daily sightings of these magnificent birds. Located on a wildlife corridor, the home also frequently welcomes monkeys and other native animals.
This three-bedroom, three-bathroom vacation home is filled with natural light and offers a private retreat to experience the best of the region. The entire house is on one level, featuring an open floor plan that faces a large infinity pool, terrace, and surrounding tropical forest. You won’t hear or see any neighbors from inside the house—only the sounds and sights of nature.
The infinity pool includes a shallow section perfect for young children and a deeper area, chest height, ideal for swimming. The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing meals with family and friends, featuring:
- Large side-by-side refrigerator
- Gas stove and oven
- Dishwasher
- Large kitchen island with granite countertop and wooden breakfast bar
To the right of the kitchen, there is a spacious walk-in pantry. On the left, a swinging door leads to the laundry room, where guests have access to a high-capacity washer and dryer.
Several large skylights brighten the home, including one in the master bathroom, one in the internal patio where a ficus tree grows, and another in the main living area. The skylight in the living room is a favorite spot for monkeys, who use its incline as a slide, providing hours of entertainment.
After a day of exploring beaches, hiking nature trails, and enjoying local cuisine, you can relax by cooling off in the illuminated pool or unwind in the large hot tub adjacent to the master bedroom, just steps from the forest canopy and its lively wildlife. Garden reflectors light up the forest around the pool and main terrace at night, creating a magical atmosphere.
Air conditioning is available only in the master bedroom and will be installed by November 1st, 2024.

This home was truly one of those places that takes you by surprise. The moment we walked in, we were blown away. It is even more beautiful in person than in the photos. The house has an incredible open, indoor-outdoor feel that makes you feel immersed in Costa Rica. Surrounded by forest and filled with natural light, it offers beautiful views of the pool from nearly every angle. The open kitchen, pool area, rooms, and outdoor feeling showers all have character and were very well maintained. Each day came with nature’s soundtrack: birdsong, monkeys and the peaceful sounds of the forest. The master bedroom is stunning, with a beautiful bathtub, views, a gorgeous shower, and thoughtful architectural details. That said, Mariana made the experience truly exceptional! She helped with our itinerary, food, transportation, and every detail before arrival, then served as a responsive, kind, and thoughtful personal concierge. I highly recommend this unique home that feels like Costa Rica!

AMAZING Airbnb and INCREDIBLE hostess. Mariana was proactive in providing helpful information and almost immediately responded to any question I had. The home is squeaky clean and Mariana has all the details covered! She provided coffee and milk and a few snacks for us upon arrival, the beds, linens and pillows are as comfortable as sleeping at home (sooo comfy) and she even had novels to read and games to play. We saw monkeys and macaws and a sloth all from the patio and pool! I have stayed in many airbnbs and this is by far the absolute best.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Mariana's place from start to finish. Mariana was so kind, helpful and responsive. She helped arrange a shuttle for us to and from the airport and to our other destination. She had excellent recommendations and helped book tours for us. The house was amazing! We saw so much wildlife just sitting on the back patio - sloths, monkeys and macaws! It was awesome! The location was right off the main road but it still felt secluded and private. We enjoyed taking walks in the neighborhood in the morning. I am so glad we stayed here and would absolutely come back!

Mariana, Thank you again for our lovely stay! Wildlife is plentiful, enjoy an afternoon dip in the pool and immerse yourself in the jungle, we have visitors from squirrel monkeys, white face, howlers, toucans, and hummingbirds! Open air home keep in mind some small geckos may come in but they are friendly and eat all the other bugs ;) our stay had everything to cook our meals or prep with seasonings , or Tupperware for on the go adventures! Bedrooms are laid out on the same side of the house and master has ac split for cooler night sleeps. Plus provided additional fans in the other rooms.

THE BEST AIRBNB I HAVE EVER VISITED! I am not exaggerating either. Mariana was an incredible host. She is kind, attentive, and super welcoming. Her home was just as exceptional as she was. The house was better than described, and more beautiful than the photos. The wildlife and foliage surrounding the home was incredible. It was gated and felt very safe, and so many nice restaurants and shops were walkable. It was only about a 5-10 minute drive to the beach, too! I will without a doubt book this house again in the future, and I’ll be looking forward to it!!! Thank you Mariana. 🙏🏼

Excellent, impeccable! Everything was great. Mariana was very friendly and helpful. As a recommendation for this accommodation or any other, it is a house in the jungle. Obviously, there are insects and animals that can enter the house. Check the beds every night before going to bed. We came across a scorpion that almost stung one of the babies. Excellent accommodation. It's a very nice house.

Mariana’s place was amazing. The monkeys, the macaws, the house, the environment, the decorations - everything from start to finish was perfect. We’ve stayed at many Airbnb’s and Mariana’s place is hands-down one of our favorites. If this is available, for sure, book it, you will not regret it. To Mariana we’ll be back and thank you for making our stay so wonderful.

I’m not sure I have the words to describe how amazing this house is. We’ve stayed in quite a few Airbnbs all over the place and this one is hands down our favorite. The house itself is stunning, Mariana is so nice and communicative, and the wildlife we saw was like staying in a private national park. Monkeys (squirrel, white faced and howler) visit daily, the birds are beautiful (get an app that identifies by song - we saw so many including toucans, scarlet macaws and mot mots), and we spent several hours one day watching a sloth come down from one tree and climb another in front of the house. My wife and kids loved our stay and we highly recommend Marianna’s place. The house was definitely built to live in and admire the abundant nature. It’s decorated beautifully and very well stocked. We got back yesterday and miss it already. If it’s available, do yourself a favor and book it!
