The Space
Opened in May 2005, La Orquidea is the only private guest house nestled in the crater on the shores of Laguna de Apoyo. Designed as a home away from home, it includes:

The peaceful surroundings are home to countless migratory and indigenous birds. Relax by the water, soak up the sun, take a hammock ride for two hours, or hike through the crater where the house is located.
This two-story guest house accommodates up to six people and offers an alternative to hotels and crowded hospedajes. We look forward to welcoming you.

We had a fantastic stay at Michaels house! The kitchen was very well stocked, something that is rare in Latin America. The house was spotless. The private beach was perfect and the beds were comfortable. We will be returning for sure. Perfect spot to stay to visit Masaya, the volcano and Granada. We much prefer to stay at the lake instead any of the surrounding towns.

Michael and his on-site staff were very kind. Doña Ana and her brother-in-law were very attentive and helpful. Michael maintained smooth communication and was very attentive and flexible. The house is very nice and a few steps away you have direct access to the lagoon Thank you for your excellent service!!

My friends and I really enjoyed our stay at La Orquídea. The natural beauty of the place and the colonial style of the house is wonderful. Michael's workers are very helpful and will always be there for you when you need them. I hope to be back soon.

Nice place with great access to the lake. Caretakers were very friendly and their dog was a lot of fun. A few restaurants within walking distance for lunch/dinner. Access to the lake is shared with another house.

The house was nice, no problems. But the workers made a lot of noise in the early morning. Sweeping at 5.00 a.m. and making other noises. That was not what we expected in a quiet environment.
