The Space

Villa 9B at Toucan Valley is a two-level, 1,000 square foot duplex nestled in the jungle, set back from the village road to ensure privacy and tranquility. It is ideal for a small family or group seeking a peaceful retreat.

On the ground floor, there is one bedroom featuring two single beds, a large closet, side tables, ceiling fans, and air conditioning. Nearby is the first bathroom, equipped with a walk-in shower. The remainder of the ground floor is an open-plan area with tiled flooring throughout. This space includes:

• A full kitchen with granite countertops
• Four-burner gas stove with oven
• Refrigerator and freezer
• Microwave
• Coffee maker
• Toaster
• Breakfast bar with stools for dining

The living area contains two couches, a coffee table, side tables, and a TV. Although there is no cable service due to the remote location, internet access is available for streaming from personal devices. Guests are encouraged to bring an HDMI cable to use the TV as a screen.

A centrally located staircase leads to the upper level, which offers an open space with a king-sized bed and side tables. The second bathroom includes a walk-in shower and closet space.

Outside, there is a large covered private deck furnished with a table and chairs, providing views through the rainforest trees.

Guest Access

Guests have exclusive access to the villa and its deck area. Villa 9B is part of the Toucan Valley community, situated within 750 acres of primary rainforest. The villa serves as an excellent base for exploring nearby jungle hiking trails and waterfalls, just a short walk away.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the rich sensory experience of the rainforest, observing the diverse layers of plants and trees forming the canopy, accompanied by the sounds of flowing water and the chorus of birds and insects. Nature enthusiasts will find this environment particularly rewarding.

Community Amenities

The Toucan Valley community offers several shared facilities, including:

• A swimming pool at the community center
• A self-service bar area with drinks and snacks
• Pool table and ping pong
• Comfortable seating areas for relaxation

• An open-air hall suitable for yoga and other activities

Weekly community events take place, such as movie nights with dinner. Guests are also welcome to harvest greens, vegetables, and seasonal fruits from the community gardens and fruit forest. Assistance from residents or staff is available to help locate produce.

Additional Information

Traveling to the southern zone of Costa Rica, where Toucan Valley is located, suits adventurous travelers seeking a quieter lifestyle away from urban bustle. After turning off the main highway (Route 34, also known as the Costanera), guests must drive 7 kilometers on a dirt road to reach the villa. The route features beautiful, dramatic scenery but includes steep and uneven sections that may be challenging, especially during the rainy season.

A four-wheel-drive vehicle is required year-round to access the village and villa.

The nearest supermarkets, restaurants, and stores are approximately 35 minutes away. A small local restaurant near Toucan Valley operates during the high season (December to April) and offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner by reservation only, including takeout options.

Guests are advised to bring food and supplies before heading up the mountain and to take advantage of the villa’s fully equipped kitchen.
