Tucked into the safe, idyllic tropical rainforest of Costa Rica’s South Pacific Coast, this home sits where lush jungle meets the bright blue Pacific Ocean. The region is one of the most biologically diverse places on Earth and is home to Zancudo, a peaceful, off-the-beaten-path fishing village that remains largely untouched by mass tourism.

The Space

After arriving through the gate, take two steps to the house and open the double doors into a spacious living room, kitchen, and dining area overlooking the pool and ocean. The two en-suite bedrooms are located down the hallway.

The home also includes:

• An outdoor dining area beside the pool

The house is a renovated 1970s traditional beach home, handcrafted by local builders from Costa Rican hardwood that is no longer available. The original woodwork and other details have been preserved while modern conveniences have been added.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need a car?

No. A car is optional. Bars, restaurants, and the grocery store are within walking distance. A car is recommended if you want to explore other villages.

Which regional airport should we use?

If you are renting a car from Enterprise Marina in Golfito, fly into Golfito. If you are not renting a car, you can fly into either Golfito or Puerto Jiménez. A boat taxi can pick you up and bring you directly across the street from the property.

• Golfito to the house: 1 hour by car or 25 minutes by boat
• Puerto Jiménez to the house: 3 hours by car or 35 minutes by boat

Do we need a four-wheel-drive vehicle?

No. If you rent a car, a four-wheel-drive vehicle is not necessary because the road is flat.

If you are unsure about renting a car, consider booking through Enterprise Golfito. There is no deposit required to hold the reservation, and cancellations are free.

How far is the property from SJO Airport?

The drive from SJO Airport takes approximately 5.5 to 6 hours.

Do you recommend a boat taxi?

Yes. We have two captains we particularly like. Their boats are approximately 25 to 35 feet long and can accommodate 6 to 8 people in total.

Is the house easy to find?

Yes. Zancudo is a long peninsula measuring more than 7 miles, with one main road. The house is located in the center of the village, just past the school, so it is easy to locate.

Is the property private and quiet?

Yes. Privacy and quiet were key considerations when designing the space. Although the property is centrally located, it has the feel of a private oasis, with lush tropical landscaping, high walls, and a wooden entry gate. Once the gate is closed, the property feels secluded and private.

Is the tap water safe to drink?

Yes. A Brita water filter is also provided.

Is baby equipment available?

Yes. The property includes:

What tourist amenities are available in Zancudo?

Extended Stays

Stays of two weeks or longer are welcome. Automatic booking is disabled for rentals longer than 15 days so that availability can be confirmed for returning guests. Please get in touch to discuss a longer stay.
