A king-size bed and private balcony frame Lake Atitlán and three volcanoes from this hillside cabaña. Sleeps 2 in San Marcos La Laguna with solar-heated showers and Starlink Wi-Fi.
The Space
This is the view people move to Guatemala for: a glamping yurt perched on a volcanic hillside, with three volcanoes, Lake Atitlan, and a private balcony visible from your king-size bed.
The yurt is raised on stilts above the hillside, opening onto expansive views as soon as you arrive. Inside, you’ll find:
- A king-size bed with 100% organic cotton linens
- Warm lighting
- Starlink Wi-Fi
- A private balcony overlooking the lake and volcanoes
Breakfast is available on request and can be served on your deck while the mist lifts from the lake. The traditional Maya breakfast includes:
- Handmade tortillas
- Local eggs
- Fresh fruit
- A smoothie
- Highland coffee
The property’s eco-friendly features include:
- Solar energy
- Solar-heated showers
- An eight-category waste separation system
- Furniture handcrafted by local Maya Kaqchikel artisans
Guest Access
Your yurt is entirely private, including the interior and balcony.
Shared facilities include:
- Solar-heated showers
- Compost toilets
- A fully equipped outdoor kitchen
- A fire pit
- A communal lounge area
- Trails through the highland vegetation
Location
San Marcos is a 15-minute walk from the property. Tuk-tuks and boats from San Marcos provide connections to other towns around the lake, and assistance with onward travel is available.
Other Things to Note
The property is located on a volcanic hillside, with uneven paths and some steps between areas. It is generally easy to navigate, but guests with mobility considerations should be aware of the terrain.
The compost toilets are clean and odor-free. If you are using them for the first time, the hosts are happy to explain how they work upon arrival.

Great if you're looking to disconnect and have some quiet days. If you are a lover of sunrises, sunsets, and nature, and at the same time want to take care of it. In short, Fuego Atitlán is the ideal space.

Comfortable but with many details. The sheets smelled strange, as if they had not been washed. The tents and the terrace are supported by sticks and stones, and I think it is a safety issue. Our tent was not closed in several places. It was not a bad experience, but I would not go again.

This sacred sanctuary was, without a doubt, the deepest favorite of our entire journey. Surrounded by living nature, we fell asleep to the songs of insects, felt the wind breathing through the tent, and awakened to light and views that felt otherworldly. Everything was impeccable, as if we were living inside a dream. We wholeheartedly recommend staying in this truly magical place and offer our deepest gratitude for such a warm, soulful welcome. ✨GRACIAS PAOLA
