The Space
The Surf Shack is designed to highlight the beauty of its natural surroundings while providing modern comfort and convenience.
The main living area features 20-foot ceilings, and every room has a powerful ceiling fan to keep tropical breezes circulating throughout the house. For warmer days, air-conditioning units are available in each bedroom and in the main living space.
A sparkling freshwater pool provides a refreshing escape from the tropical heat and a pleasant view from the outdoor areas. Hammocks on the front terrace offer a comfortable place to enjoy the breeze, watch for wildlife, and sip a cold drink.
Wildlife sightings are common. Guests may see sloths crossing the front yard, iguanas, a variety of birds, and monkeys, which can often be heard and spotted nearby.

We had a lovely stay in Olivia and Julian's house. It was perfectly located to walk into town or to drive along the coast but also a great place to relax and spend time in. It was lovely and spacious, clean, comfortable and well equipped. We particularly loved the pool. Thank you

While the location is perfect and the owners were responsive, the major downer was the cleaning. I normally don’t make a fuss about little things but I had to send photos in order for the owners to understand my disappointment. Hopefully they take attention as there seemed to have been other reviews with similar feelings earlier last year. AC was great, but the place also needs some updating.

A really nice stay. Good location. A quiet enough location but still close enough to everything. Fun pool, plenty of space. The host was very responsive and helpful. We hope to visit again one day.

Fantastic location. So close to town. Very walkable. The pool is a huge plus for those hot days or as a great alternative to a beach day. Plenty of space in the house. Secured parking. This is my go-to house for family and friends in this area. Highly recommend.

A beautiful villa with a gorgeous pool and relaxing hammock. The kitchen is well equipped, comfortable beds, and walkable to the cafes and beach. Really flexible with a late check out, which really helped us. Sadly there is quite a bit of construction happening next door, which of course is out of the control of the hosts, but it meant that we weren’t able to enjoy the pool or garden during our 4 days due to the drilling, banging and noise. But the beaches were closeby to escape to :)

Beautiful house with all the amenities and extras you'd need for a stay in Puerto Viejo. The pool, patio area, kitchen, living room and bedrooms were all spotless and felt very well cared for. My wife and daughter were completely comfortable being outside at night as they enjoyed evening swims. the privacy gave us a real sense of comfort.

Our family of 5 enjoyed our stay at the Surf Shack. Beautiful home and property in a great location, walkable to town and the beach and an easy drive to several other beaches and restaurants. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare a few meals. The bathroom was newly remodeled. We enjoyed relaxing at the pool each day after the beach. We had a minor issue that the hosts responded to and resolved quickly. The guide book was provided shortly after we booked and helped us plan for our time in Puerto Viejo. Great hosts - highly recommend the Surf Shack! Would stay again!
