Amazing beach house on peaceful on Tambour Beach

The Space

This beautiful villa is situated on the expansive 4-mile-long Tambor Beach in Bahía Ballena (Whale Bay), within the gated community of Los Delfines Golf and Country Club in Tambor, Costa Rica. Floor-to-ceiling windows span the entire front of the house, both upstairs and downstairs, providing breathtaking views of the stunning beach and ocean.

The villa includes three bedrooms and an alcove with a bed, each featuring an ensuite bathroom. A spacious patio overlooks the ocean and a shared pool, which is shared with only seven other villas.

About six years ago, after staying at this beach house and falling in love with it, we purchased it when the previous owners decided to sell. This villa is unique within the gated community because it borders a park, offering more privacy than other homes. The park is home to howler monkeys, which can often be seen and heard just 25 feet from the front door.

Upon entering the house, the view immediately captivates you, resembling a picture-perfect postcard with palm trees, a broad sandy beach, and the beautiful blue ocean.

Every room is equipped with air conditioning units and large ceiling fans. The open floor plan downstairs includes a large dining and living area along with a custom kitchen featuring teak wood cabinets, quartz countertops, and brand-new appliances.

An alcove off the living room contains a semi-private queen-size daybed with its own full bathroom. Two sliding doors open to a covered patio furnished with a sectional couch, a small raised table with stools, and a large live-wood table seating up to ten people. The patio is shaded by a new roof and surrounded by palm trees, creating an ideal outdoor living space complete with a propane barbecue grill. Two large hammocks are also available for relaxing or reading.

Upstairs, a curved staircase leads to the three bedrooms, each with floor-to-ceiling windows and an ensuite bathroom. The master suite features a large balcony wrapping around two sides of the room, offering spectacular ocean views. It includes new fans, a king-size bed, and a spacious bathroom with an ocean-view shower. Early mornings on the balcony are perfect for enjoying the cool breeze and watching scarlet macaws flying by. At night, you can sleep comfortably with all doors and windows open, listening to the sound of the waves.

The other two bedrooms also boast walls of glass, providing plenty of natural light and views.

Location and Beach

The villa sits on a soft black sand beach that stretches for four miles. The sand is easy to walk on, and the beach has a gentle slope into the ocean. At high tide, it is approximately 75 steps to the water, and at low tide, about 240 steps.

While the bay does not offer ideal surfing conditions, it is excellent for swimming. The previous owner occasionally surfed here. For guests’ enjoyment, there is a surfboard and three boogie boards available. Paddleboarding is also a great option on calm days.

The community pool is just 25 steps from the patio and is shared with only seven other houses.

Despite these attractions, the beach remains peaceful and uncrowded. Even during busier times like Easter Week, it is rare to see more than ten people on the entire four-mile stretch. Often, you may have the beach all to yourself.

Nearby Services

Within the gated community, there is a well-stocked convenience store. A slightly larger store is located in the town of Tambor, just a short drive away. For more extensive shopping, grocery stores are available about 25 minutes away in Cóbano.

If you prefer dining out, a charming open-air restaurant is just a pleasant walk across the park next to the house. It offers great food and friendly service.

The villa is also conveniently located near one of Costa Rica’s finest golf courses, accessible via a short walkway within the community.

Transportation

The property is approximately 3 to 4 hours from San José, depending on traffic, including a ferry crossing. Alternatively, a 30-minute flight on a small propeller plane lands at the local airport in Cóbano, which is about 25 minutes from the villa.

Guest Access

Guests have full access to the entire house, except for a few owner storage areas. The patio, outdoor furniture, grill, and hammocks are available for use. The community pool is just steps away, along with lounge chairs positioned along the palm-lined edge of the beach.

Of course, guests can enjoy the entire four-mile beach that stretches along the property.
