The Space

This beautiful property is set on two acres of lush gardens featuring large trees, lawns, and three ponds that fill the evenings with a delightful chorus of frogs. Beyond the garden, the land extends into 32 acres of rainforest stretching toward Corcovado, home to a variety of mammals.

From the veranda, the rainforest is visible and often visited by wildlife such as squirrel monkeys, trogons, aracaris, and toucans. At night, a family of kinkajous frequently appears, providing guests with a unique viewing experience from the veranda.

The house includes:

• Three bedrooms plus a separate study room that can be converted into an additional bedroom upon request
• Accommodation for 6 to 7 people comfortably
• An upstairs open hardwood veranda adjacent to the bathroom and two bedrooms
• A gas-powered hot shower in the upstairs bathroom

Approximately 80 meters from the house is a four-bay garage with small living quarters for the hosts.

Connectivity and Utilities

Mobile phone reception is weak in the area; however, a private satellite dish located 300 meters above the property provides reliable Wi-Fi. The system has recently been upgraded from solar-powered to electricity-driven, ensuring 24/7 internet access—making this one of the few places nearby with continuous connectivity.

The property offers a peaceful, secure, and private environment. White bed linens and towels are provided, and all windows are fitted with mesh screens. Air conditioning is available only in the study.

Location and Accessibility

Although the property feels remote and is nestled on the edge of the rainforest, it is just 300 meters from the nearby village and accessible by a standard vehicle.

Given the remote nature of the Osa region, occasional power outages may occur, typically due to fallen trees affecting power lines. These interruptions usually last a few hours. Water outages can also happen but are generally resolved quickly. Guests are encouraged to contact the hosts if they have any concerns during their stay.

Wildlife and Nature Trails

The property features maintained trails through the rainforest, allowing guests to explore the diverse wildlife.

Regular bird species observed in the garden include:

• Chestnut Mandibled Toucan

• Green and Ringed Kingfisher
• Various tanagers such as Golden-Hooded, Blue-Gray, Bay-Headed, Cherries, and Summer
• Tropical Kingbird
• Shining Honeycreeper
• Long-Tailed Hermit, Little Hermit, Rufous-Tailed Hummingbird
• Antwrens
• Red-Capped and Orange-Collared Manakins
• White Hawk
• Thick-Billed Euphonia
• Roadside Hawk and Collared Forest Falcon

Occasionally, guests may spot rarer species like the Crested Owl.

Use of any hides requires permission, and climbing scaffold tower hides or ladders is strictly at the guest’s own risk.

Additional Information

For rainforest walks, guests are advised to borrow boots available on the downstairs veranda for protection against snakes.

Blinds and hides are accessible only upon request and when Jim, the host, is present. They are not automatically available.

Leonidas, a local caretaker, discreetly checks the house daily when guests are absent to prevent squatting and deter theft. He also maintains the garden every Saturday using equipment stored in the garage.
