As described. Communication is excellent, and Muriel is very nice. Her uncle Oscar and Emma are very welcoming and always ready to help. The animals on the property made our children happy. We didn't swim because, as described, there are large rocks, but the waterfront with a view of the volcano is very beautiful. We missed the air conditioning a bit, but some nights there was a good breeze. Beautiful location with a restaurant and activities not far away.

Even though we had some water shortages (which were island-wide and not Miurel's fault), we really enjoyed our stay in her house! The place and the environment were great!

Nice location, close to many restaurants and the best places in the Island. the garden with the pets is beautiful. we had a nice time with Muchacho ( The deer) 🥰 got good recommendations for restaurants and beaches for locals. Nice vibe.

Host was very kind and understanding but the place wasn’t up to living standards.
No couch so nowhere to relax other than the bed, which did not have curtains for privacy and had direct view from the other people that lived in the property.
We went in the hottest season (our fault) but it was really tough to sleep with only a fan (no AC), so be aware of that depending on when you plan your trip.
The location is pretty great, a walk away from good restaurants and Il Pital.
There was a hole on the floor and ants were coming in through the hole, which didn’t help the ant problem in the kitchen.
During dry season (when we went), access to the water is just rocks and tricky to get to the water and we weren’t able to go swimming at all.
The animals were the highlight of the days we spent there, deer and dog were friendly and the parrot was chatty and lovely.
Sadly we had to find a new stay so we could enjoy our time there due to the heat and lack of comfort.

As shown in our listing description and photos, the accommodation does not include a sofa or air conditioning. However, we appreciate your comments and will make these details even clearer in our description going forward. We are also in the process of installing curtains, as we understand they are needed. We will additionally include more information regarding insects. As Ometepe is an ecological tropical island with a warm and humid climate, encountering insects is part of the natural environment, and we encourage guests to come prepared for these conditions, as well as for the hot weather. Despite these inconveniences, we hope you were still able to enjoy Ometepe, as it is truly one of the most beautiful places in Nicaragua.

I had an amazing vacation. The house was perfect, just as advertised, and the little animals were lovely. The location was perfect for going to Playa Mango, Playa Santo Domingo, Ojo de Agua, and El Pital, which were all close to the property. The only thing that could be improved, I think, would be to have more fans to make sleeping more comfortable. Otherwise, everything was perfect.

Everything was great! Oscar picked us up from the port and drove us back. Oscar's property offers a unique experience and allows you to hangout with muchacho (the deer) and his chickens, dog, rabbits, and parrot. Great host, great air bnb, 10/10.

Overall we were happy to stay in this home and great hosts. It was further out than I expected, so you definitely need transportation to get anywhere.
There are a multitude of pets always around, if you like interacting with animals. That said, they become quite "needy" and noisy (the cat) when there's food around.
The electrical outlets don't work in the kitchen and dining room (no table or chairs in this space either), so we weren't able to use the kitchen appliances, and had to rely on the bedroom outlets to charge phones\computers (which were then in high demand with our group of 5, and not wanting to unplug the fans). The power went out a couple of times, once for a few hours in the afternoon
The view and waterfront are nice. Just keep in mind it is extremely difficult to access the water as it is 100% rocks (slippery and loose). This can be a bit treacherous with the wind and waves. We navigated this once, but then chose to drive to the beaches to access the water.

This property just outside Balgue is beautiful, lake front, and surrounded by fruit trees and animals!
Oscar and his family live onsite and are supportive to everything you might need. We really enjoyed our stay! Really great spot if you have children. Soooooo many animals to play with!

This rental in Balgüe is really quite special. For the very affordable price, it is a quaint and basic rental in an excellent part of Ometepe on the property of a very lovely family. It’s pretty neat to be on a family’s property and be a bit immersed in Nicaraguan life. They have many animals and our three children really enjoyed this. Dog, cat, deer, chicken, bunnies, a parrot. The only negative was the rooster who starts getting noisy in the wee hours of the night (we had to close the windows and put the fans on).
Oscar and his family were always there to help us when we had questions, or even to help with a bit of laundry.
We definitely recommend this as a family friendly place and a true Nicaraguan experience. We hope to return one day.

The Coco Loco is a very special place with its own magic. The house is simply equipped but it has everything you need. The hospitality of Oscar and his wife are unforgettable and all the animals on the grounds make it almost look like a small zoo. The trusting deer and the talking parrot made it a very special experience for us. If you want to enjoy a slightly different vacation and really want to get a sense of local life, you are in the right place. Thank you for this really special stay!

Our stay at this lake house near Balgue was absolutely wonderful. The location is stunning, with a beautiful private little beach right in front of the house where we could relax and swim in peace. The terrace is cozy and perfect for enjoying the view, having breakfast, or just unwinding at the end of the day.
The host was amazing, super kind, welcoming, and always ready to help us with tips and practical things during our stay. It really made us feel cared for and at home. On top of that, the place is surrounded by the sweetest little animals that are so friendly and made the atmosphere even more special.
What we loved most was the balance. It is tucked away in a quiet and beautiful setting, yet still close to local shops and everything we needed. For us, it was the perfect mix of tranquility, comfort, and authenticity. We left with so many good memories and would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting Ometepe. :))

We were a family of 5 (3 kids 5-8 years old) that stayed here and absolutely loved it. It was so peaceful, right on the water and had everything we needed. The animals on the property were a huge hit for the kids. The care taker Oskar and his beautiful family for so kind and so helpful and always right there if we needed anything.
It was absolutely perfect and we are very grateful for our stay 🙏

From the beginning they were super attentive and helpful, always trying to make our stay as good as possible. The house is very comfortable and super cozy, with direct access to the lake and surrounded by the host's animals: dogs, deer, chickens, rabbits... Staying in this house is wonderful, ideal for a few days of relaxation surrounded by nature. The location is ideal, right between the two volcanoes and on the outskirts of a village with restaurants and shops. The hosts are always around to help you with anything they can! I would definitely repeat!!

Unfortunately, my stay was disappointing. The apartment was very hot with almost no ventilation, and there were a lot of insects throughout the space. There was also no proper sofa or comfortable place to sit and relax. While communication with the host was good, the conditions in the apartment made the stay uncomfortable.

We are sorry that your stay wasn’t pleasent, and apologize. We are taking measurements to improve by adding extra fans, installing mosquito nets in all windows/door and will do more to improve, as much as possible. Since, Ometepe is by nature an Island with an ecosystem full of insects.

The stay was perfect. We were welcomed at Mulberry's as if we were at home. Her family helped us on a daily basis and were there as soon as we had questions despite our poor level in Spanish. We managed to do everything on foot, by bus or taxi from the house. The kids loved the animals around the house. We'll be glad to come back.
