3BR Cabin in San Miguel Topilejo

Excellent, 1 month ago

An amazing peaceful getaway go start off the Mexico City trip. Easy to get to from the airport with a trusted driver out of the city and into the mountains. Be sure to grab everything you need to cook before arriving. The stay was exactly as described and even more beautiful in person. Thank you to Sergio and Gabriel for being such great hosts!

We stayed in Casa Alferez for two nights. It was a perfect, tranquil retreat before spending a week in CDMX. Somehow the place looked even more incredible than the photos. We enjoyed seeing how the spaces looked different depending on the time of day and sunlight. Sergio helped us arrange for a ride to check in and check out, which was helpful considering the remote location. We are glad we stopped for groceries on the way in because we didn't leave the property at all. Sergio and the house manager Gabriel were responsive to all of our questions.

It is an iconic house that is worth visiting for its architectural design. The wooded atmosphere and the rain make the experience more enjoyable. Super recommended.

The place is stunning! My stay there was awesome and I would return again and again. Sergio is an excellent host and was very helpful and kind. I shared w/him a few personal issues i had with family coming and he was very accommodating. A Host that listens and tries to make thing right for the guest. We took a whole shopping cart of goods for our meal prep (strongly suggest) from cdmx. To my surprise the kitchen was fully stocked with tea, coffee (even coffee grinder!) olive oil, spices and complete kitchen equipment for food prep. I would strongly recommend this house for relaxation, spiritual pursuits, hikes, reading and family gatherings. My family of 4 enjoyed the fireplace, REAL records and games in the conversation room. Thank You Sergio for creating this amazing space and sharing it with us all!!!!

Our stay at Casa Alfarez just outside Mexico City was nothing short of extraordinary. The brutalist architecture is breathtaking, a striking masterpiece of design that feels both powerful and deeply harmonious with its surroundings. Every space reflects impeccable taste, intention, and a remarkable architectural vision. The curated art and design pieces are exquisite, adding layers of character, sophistication, and a truly distinctive charm to the home. In the evenings, lighting the fireplace transforms the atmosphere into something incredibly warm, intimate, and unforgettable. Sergio is a superb host, gracious, attentive, and effortlessly ensuring that every aspect of the stay feels seamless and elevated. His hospitality perfectly complements the uniqueness of this exceptional property. An unforgettable experience we will absolutely return to. Highest recommendation.

Had a lovely time at this stunning brutalist palace. It truly lives up to the photos. And the conversation pit is even more comfy than I could have imagined. We went during a particularly cold time, and Sergio provided lots of extra blankets, heaters and firewood, but best to come prepared with some layers just in case. We had a rental car with us and the parking right out front was super easy, as was driving to the location from Mexico City. Thanks for the unique stay!

I'm a huge fan of architect Ludwig Godefroy and was stunned when I first saw photos of this house a few years ago - it was the thrill of a lifetime to actually get to stay in it for my birthday this year. The beauty, luxury, joy of the conversation pit must be experienced in person. The bed was exceptionally comfortable with very high quality linens, the kitchen is quite well stocked for food preparation, and there are beautiful walks straight out the door into the forest and mountains. As others have noted - hot water is intermittent and for sure bring in all your own food supply; the neighborhood also lost power twice (common in Mexico) which means no running water, so suggest you bring quite large water jugs if you can, so you're prepared. Small inconveniences compared to the rarity of staying in an architectural masterpiece such as this. Highly recommend and we hope to come back someday.

We had an excellent stay at Casa Alferez - the house is incredible and really well equipped. The fire kept the whole place warm, and there's plenty of nice touches like the record collection/sound system, books, and beautiful objects to look at. There was a bit of construction noise from a nearby property but the Sonos sound system worked perfectly to lessen that. An incredible opportunity to stay in an architectural gem!

Amaaaaaazing cabin. If we are talking just about the property itself, 10/10. The vaulted ceiling is hypnotizing, the forest is beautiful, the design details are thoughtful, the space is really unique. The owners clearly have good taste and considered how to make the space great for long chats and lovely meals. The sheets on the beds are super soft, the lighting placements are really smart, and of course the conversation pit is the cherry on top. Around the property was a bit of a different story— there’s construction happening across the road, which we thought would be fine but they were literally cutting stone 8-5 every day, sometimes later. Also there is a dog daycare/retreatt nearby so we heard groups of dogs barking all day…. Or at least that’s what we think it was—I couldn’t believe how many dogs i heard so we went up the road to see, and thats what it seemed to be None of this is the property owners fault, but worth considering if you are looking for a quiet escape

Incredible place as the photos suggest. The conversation pit was a massive highlight and we loved to hang out there with a fire. Couple of points of note, the neighbour is doing renovations / construction so it wasn’t as peaceful as we would have loved and the hot water was intermittent. But overall breathtaking location and one we would certainly return to if back in CDMX. Make sure you have everything you need if you don’t have a car as the local shop only had a few supplies. 100% recommend and have already told friends it’s a must visit.

Highly recommended! We needed a break from the city and this was definitely the best decision. We thoroughly enjoyed the house, the forest, and the tranquility (although the neighbor's house is being remodeled, the noise was minimal). It is about a 10 min drive from the Marquise, in the village that is nearby there are several tienditas and locals where you can buy anything you have forgotten. Sergio was very nice and a top host. We hope to return soon.

UNFORGETTABLE!! If you have a chance to stay at this absolute gem and architectural work of art, I cannot recommend it enough. The house is even more grand and breathtaking than the pictures. The kitchen was well stocked with coffee and snacks so it was easy to stay comfortable and enjoy the space during our time. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves so much in the cabin and hope to return someday soon if Sergio will have us again. Sergio and Gabriel were so helpful and responsive throughout our trip and made us feel so welcome and at home. We have stayed at a lot of rentals in the last 10 years..this one has got to be the astounding. 11/10 experience. Thank you for having us, we are grateful!

Very special and unique house.

Sergio’s place was a dream come true! He was an exceptional host and helped us with feel at ease before and during our stay. The home is beautiful and pictures just don’t do it justice. Sergio gave us some wonderful recommendations and even help us connect with a local who was our driver for the entirety of our stay. Hey was also a great and very honest man! Very punctual getting us from our accommodation into Mexico City and surrounding areas. I cannot express my gratitude and satisfaction enough to Sergio, our host, and to Miguel, our driver. Overall a spectacular trip! My bf and I have already added this place to our list of must return places! Book it!

We had such an incredible stay at Sergio's house. Clear and prompt communication from booking to check out. The place is truly a dream — so thoughtful, comfortable and beautiful. The kitchen had everything we needed and more, and the grill outside is such a bonus. The weather was cold when we went, though Sergio has this planned for as well and there are plenty of blankets, extra layers, slippers, fire pits and the gorgeous fire place to make sure you don't feel it. We will definitely be back, and next time for much longer hopefully!

A super place to disconnect from the city being, in turn, very close to it. Architecture is the protagonist of the stay: unusual spaces generate interactions between guests very different from any other accommodation I have visited. Windows make vivid pictures on the walls and skylights illuminate the house in many ways throughout the day. The light games are amazing. There is a very good selection of accessories that complement the stay like fireplaces, horns, coffee machine, games, etc. really a very good experience. Communication with Sergio the host is excellent, highly recommended!
