3BR Villa in San Miguel de Allende

Aileena

Excellent, 6 months ago

Paula was a wonderful host. She was quick to communicate and proactive in coordinating everything with the property manager before our arrival. Her housekeeper/manager, Theresa, was fantastic! She accommodated our after-hours check-in and welcomed us with margaritas, chips, salsa, and quesadillas. I sent a grocery list to Paula in advance and paid Theresa at the end of our stay. She prepared delicious breakfasts and lunches daily and is an incredible cook. While her English is limited, we loved practicing our Spanish with her. The home was tidied daily and kept in pristine condition. Juan, the gardener, maintained the beautiful landscaping and pool. The house is gorgeous and exactly as pictured. The primary suite is on its own private level with a sitting area and patio. Two additional bedrooms open to the pool patio and bar, each with en-suite baths. The rooftop terrace is perfect for sunsets, and the main level terrace is ideal for dining and relaxing. I highly recommend!

We LOVED our stay at Casa Tesoro! A gorgeous home with so much attention to detail and stunning gardens. Teresa, the housekeeper, was incredibly kind and made us feel right at home - and her daily breakfasts were delicious. Paula was fabulous as well - responsive and helpful. Having a beautiful, heated pool to return to in the afternoons was amazing. San Miguel de Allende is a special place — warm people, amazing food, beautiful architecture, and rich history - and staying in Casa Tesoro made it even better!

We thoroughly enjoyed the Villa in San Miguel. The house was better than we expected, with the housekeeper (Theresa was 5*). She prepared us breakfast and lunch almost every day. The rooms were spacious, great views over the city, and beautifully decorated. We walked mostly to the village, but due to the incline walking home, we often used uber or taxi, which are easy to find. This was one of my favouite homes and experiences ever. Highly recommend this villa. Great Value! 5*

We stayed at Paula's house and it was more than excellent! The house is very nice and in the San Miguel de Allende style with beautiful decor, and each room had beautiful details. The house is at the service of Teresa, who does the cleaning and cooking, an extraordinary person who is always attentive to please us in everything and who cooks delicious food. I definitely highly recommend this house to stay. Thank you Paula! ANA

The House was gorgeous and as described. The view was stunning. And Teresa, the housekeeper/chef was the cherry on top. To have a regional collection of food on hand when we arrived as well as having a local give us suggestions was brilliant. I would absolutely stay here again.

Thank you for your kind words! Please come back soon. You and your family are wonderful guests!

The most wonderful home and beautiful garden and surroundings. We felt it was truly Magical. Teresa who is the home keeper was so lovely, and made us feel right at home. Delicious breakfasts daily and soooooo sweet. The house is gorgeous and you can see every where the attention to detail. The host Paula was so responsive and helpful. The city of SMA is a place everyone should make time to go and see. The local people are so kind and lovely, the food is delicious, the architecture amazing and the history fascinating. We are so happy to have been there to celebrate my son's 25th birthday. (which Teresa was wonderful in getting the most delicious CAKE! and sparklers). Everything was perfect. The house is on a hillside, so you will have a lot of steep walking but you can get to town in about 12 minutes at a good pace. There are many stairs in the house, but we appreciated them for the exercise and the views. The pool was magnificent and like a bathtub (have the heater!) Amazing!

Thank you Lauren for your kind words. We look forward to your return next November. It is a splendid time of year. Dios los muertos is absolutely amazing! Wishing you joy and happiness this holiday season.

We paid a premium price for this property for 3 weeks. We have to leave after 2 weeks. The property is Haunted. We also discovered some human teeth in a jar either with no lid on the vanity. There are no fans and only 1 window/door with a screen. We were eaten alive by mosquitos. Infected Spider bites on my wife’s leg. We were only able to use the pool once because we discovered that it was infested with spiders and webs. Also the bedroom patio and roof top were covered with spiders and webs. Which was so disappointing because we were really looking forward to the evening view from the rooftop deck but the first time up there we ran into a scorpion. We requested the last week credit back from Paula due to the conditions of the property. We gave a weeks notice that we were not gonna stay. She refused to give us any money back.

Host Response

How does one justify replying to such a fantastical review? I am speechless. We left our home 6 days prior to Leon’s arrival and the house was in pristine condition. Leon forgot his keys and became combative, disrespectful and argumentative when it took me 25 minutes to locate our maid on her day off. He was given multiple sets of keys. He then decidedto leave four days early due to a “ family situation”. He asked for a refund and I explained to him my policy was firm and his notice was too short. He asked twice more for money. There are no ghosts, teeth in jars or spiders! As I am very accommodating to all guests I had to house and garden fumigated. He stated the spiders were outside. We clean our pool weekly there are no spiders or webs. We have 1-2 fans in all guest rooms. When I did not issue Leon a refund he decided to write a dishonest and malicious review. I can only surmise this is his method of trying to shake down hosts. Please see that all our other reviews are 5 stars.

We had a wonderful stay! Do not hesitate, this place is fantastic. The location is a bit out of town, we loved the walk down but did take taxis home (very inexpensive and easy to find). We loved the pool and the tranquility but mostly we loved Theresa...she truly makes you feel at home and takes wonderful care of you. Her meals are delicious and she is a kind and sweet person with a great sense of humor. We have stayed in SMA many times and this place was a favorite, we hope to return. Paula took the time to help me plan our visit via phone before our arrival which was very helpful and kind. Thank you Paula and Theresa!!

Host Response

We plan to add screens when we get there in August. Did you use the standing fans? For future reference, April and May are the hottest months in SMA. Despite the heat I am happy that you enjoyed our house and our lovely Theresa. Please come again.

We loved our stay!!!! This home is beautiful. The indoor home worker is a joy to know, kept the house looking great, cooked great!!!!! meals, and was a pleasure to talk with. I would go back without hesitation. One thing to note, this is a multi-story rental and on a high hill. If you have troubles going up and down stairs this may not be the place for you. It would still be beautiful, but a bit difficult. That was not an issue for us, and we truly could not have been happier with our stay.

Paula was a great long distance hostess, very reachable by phone and she gave us lots of useful information regarding our stay. The location overlooks the city which is fantastic however one of our party found the short walk into town and back challenging but the rest of our group (in our 70's) loved the exercise. Cabs were always at the ready however to take you into the town center which was very close by. The property comes with a daily cook and housekeeper by the name of Teresa who was wonderful. I would highly recommend a stay here.

The house is incredible. The architecture and furnishings stand out in the neighborhood. The best part was Senora Theresa, the housekeeper and chef. She cooked a yummy breakfast each day and stocked the house with groceries. She treated my kids like her grandkids! The house is on a very steep hill. We walked down a couple of times and it took around 15-20 mins to the main square area. But super easy to call an uber to bring you down and up. We would definitely return to SMA & the house!

Thank you for your 5 star review.

First of all, the photos don’t do the place justice. Paula has created a beautiful home with furnishings that do the place justice. There are several places for you to sit down and relax. Inside and out. A rooftop which will give you a beautiful view over SMA, (plus amazing fireworks at New Years), an indoor seating area upstairs, another outdoor seating area below the rooftop, an indoor seating area a floor below where the kitchen is, another outdoor seating area and a place to eat at the kitchen level and then another area by the pool. We simply did not have enough time to enjoy all the areas😊 Tereza was absolutely wonderful! She is a wonderful cook. She prepared 2 delicious dinners for us and breakfast every morning ( except for Sunday and New Years Day, though she would have come if we wanted her to on New Years Day) Her margaritas were also very good! If walking is an issue for you, this might not be the best place for you. Otherwise, don’t hesitate and book it now!

Our second time, and it won't be our last. Great place, great location, great spaces and good service.

This home is a definite “Do Not Miss” and outstanding on every level. From the moment you open the door to the beautiful outdoor fountain and garden you know this is a special place enhanced by the loving housekeeperTeresa. She goes above and beyond and is an excellent cook. We all miss her 5* guacamole! The layout of the home achieves best in indoor/outdoor living, comfort, and privacy with beautiful gardens. You feel like you are living in an art museum with luxury beds & linens and an amazing roof top to view the beautiful sunsets with Teresa’s margaritas. Additionally all bedrooms have beautiful in suite bathrooms and charming fireplaces. Bedrooms on the lower level allow direct access to the pristine outdoor swimming pool. Honestly the only negative from our trip was we wish we had spent more time just relaxing in this gorgeous home.

Everything - from Paula’s communication and recommendations to her gorgeous property - was just perfect. Don’t miss the rooftop at sunset, taking a nap on the main veranda, or the large pool (well worth the heating fee!) which kept our kids happy all week! The bedroom setup was perfect for our family of four and my parents and the home design was a feast for the eyes. That said, the real MVP of our trip was the amazing housekeeper, Theresa. Theresa made the house feel like a home and our trip extra special with her cooking and her warm personality. This home is a do not miss; I had previously stayed at the Rosewood down the hill in SMdA and Paula’s home blows that property out of the water in every category. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Paula’s house really became our home for the last month. The grounds are spectacular, the many outside areas were perfect to relax in and see the amazing views. The property was very private. Plenty of comfortable spaces and sitting areas within the house to sit, read, sip some tequila and enjoy the many gas fireplaces. Each morning, except Sunday, Elvia (the amazing housekeeper) made authentic Mexican breakfasts and kept the house extremely clean. BTW, the WI-FI worked great 99% of the time. We will definitely return and are already making those plans.

Thank you Richard for your 5 star review! Looking forward to your return.

What words to describe Paula’s property- gorgeous, beautiful, amazing…. We have stayed in many unbelievable properties all over the world, and this has to be right up there on the top. Stunning architecture with extraordinary attention to detail – gorgeous antiques, tapestries, paintings and sumptuous furniture as well as fireplaces in every room. Terraced gardens surround every patio, cascading with flowers, and culminating in an incredible swimming pool. The house was impeccably clean, and the kitchens and bathrooms were stocked with everything one could need. The views of downtown SMA from the roof are spectacular- amazing to watch the NY fireworks! Beds were extremely comfortable and 3 full bathrooms (that were also beautiful) were a major plus. Paula also is a gracious, helpful, and very responsive host. Elvia (cook/housekeeper) was welcoming and prepared wonderful lunch upon our arrival with great margaritas and very nice breakfasts. A++++

Brad, Thank you so much for your amazing review. I am so happy you enjoyed our home and SMA. We would love to host you and your family again. Happy New Year! 🙏❤️

Casa Tesoro is exquisitely decorated in a traditional Mexican style with stunning art and impeccable attention to detail, having both grandeur and intimacy. The many gas fireplaces were a highlight; in winter it can be downright chilly in the mornings and evenings and the fireplaces kept us comfortable all over the house. The views of San Miguel de Allende are breathtaking from the upper rooms and terraces and the gardens are dreamy. The pool area is lush and completely private due to it being sited at the bottom of the property. Do ask to have the pool heated during the cooler months. Elvia (cook/housekeeper) and Juan (gardener) were warm and helpful, yet always discreet. Elvia’s cooking was out of this world and guests should ask her to make dinner at least once! The owner went out of her way to accommodate us and to make us feel welcome. Hard to imagine a better place to celebrate Christmas. We are grateful to have been guests and hope to return.

This is an authentic example of SMA Spanish/moorish design. I’ve been traveling here for twenty years and have stayed at many homes. This was by far one of my favorite. Elvia the housekeeper and cook was the icing on the cake. Lounging by the pool was very relaxing and watching sunsets from the rooftop. It was cold in the mornings so the fireplaces in all the rooms was nice to easily turn on. The terraces are lush and well appointed. We watched some of Paula’s movie collection - dvd’s as well. The hike up to the house is hard. If you’re not in great shape you’ll have to take a taxi. We highly recommend.

It’s difficult to express in words how spectacular this home is. You truly have to see it in person. From the moment you enter the front doors from the hilly cobblestone street, your jaw will drop as you walk though the beautiful courtyard overflowing with greenery, flowers and fountains, towards the front doors of the home, or to the stunning staircase to the backyard. Trust me when I say you’ll feel like a king and queen staying here. The property itself feels like staying in a piece of history. You feel transported to another time with the architecture, yet included are all the modern comforts you want in a house. In the mornings we’d sip coffee in front of one of the several fireplaces, or enjoy the sunrise from the rooftop and catch hot air balloons in the distance. The views of the valley and San Miguel are breathtaking and can be enjoyed from the rooftop or master bedroom patio. We looked forward to a little exercise walking to and from town each day, it’s a lovely walk through the quiet neighborhood where you can admire the architecture and stroll through the beautiful Benito Juarez park on your way into town. We’d walk several miles a day, so be sure to pack comfortable walking shoes, and if you aren’t up for the walk- you can easily catch a taxi or Uber. After exploring town, we’d come back to the home and relax in the pool which felt wonderful after hours walking in the city. The outdoor area is surrounded by walls covered in luscious green vines, flowers, gardens, and rosemary & lavender galore. It’s quite the peaceful retreat. The remainder of our evenings were enjoyed in the spacious veranda with our family, and on the rooftop to watch the sunset over the mountains. Elvia, the house maid, was a sweetheart and a joy to have around. Every meal was phenomenal. Upon arriving Elvia had dinner and margaritas waiting for us, which was the best way to kick off a vacation. I highly recommend having at least a few meals prepared by her. Favorite dinners included taquitos and chicken mole. Breakfast with fresh squeezed OJ, fruit, and chilaquiles is a must. Paula is a wonderful Airbnb host, she is very responsive and had many recommendations for us to do around town. She took time out of her days to call us and answer questions we had to make sure we were prepared for our stay. We are already planning our next trip back.

Our party of six stayed at Paula’s from 10/7-10/14. Upon entering, we could not believe what a stunning home we were walking into. It felt more like a castle than a home. The decorating, style and furnishings gave it such a high-end feel. The architecture of the home and grounds were jaw-dropping. There is major wow factor to this home! The home has 3 bedrooms – 2 downstairs and one upstairs. The main floor consists of a living room, kitchen, half bath, and an outside patio that overlooks San Miguel and the pool *(which is also stunning). Keep in mind, there are a lot of stairs to get to each level. And the house sits at the top of a steep hill, so if you are traveling with someone who has mobility issues, keep that in mind. We regularly walked down to the city, which is about a 15-minute walk. On the return trip, we’d take a taxi because those hills are challenging, especially after a meal and a cocktail. We spent afternoons in the pool after walking the city in the morning. It was an oasis. The pool is heated (if you pay for it) so you don’t need to worry about it being too chilly. After getting out of the pool and showering, we’d go to the roof deck for a cocktail before heading out to dinner. You can’t find a better vantage point overlooking the city. It’s breathtaking. In my opinion, the best part of staying here was our housekeeper, Elvia. She is warm, a hard worker, and she kept the home spotless. Oh, and she prepared tasty Mexican breakfasts most days and even taught us how to make homemade mole sauce. She stayed one evening to prepare dinner for friends who visited for dinner. Another bonus – Elvia has a sister who is a professional masseuse, and she came to the house with her table and gave me the most incredible massage. If this home is 5 stars, Elvia is 6 stars. Between Elvia, the home, the pool, and the view, we needed nothing else. San Miguel is an incredible city, and this home enhanced what was already a great trip. I would highly recommend!

We stayed in Paula's home from June 6, 2022- June 11, 2022. Immediately after booking I was in communication with Paula. She is a great, attentive, fast responding and simply kind host. She answered all my questions and even provided a great transportation company that got us to and from the airport. I highly recommend them too (BaijioGoShuttle) Upon arrival we were immediately greeted by Elvia, who is the reason this place is a must to stay in. Yes, the home is beautiful, even better than the pictures, but Elivia's cooking and care while we stayed made it an exceptional trip. If you have ever traveled with a group, we were 6, with 3 young adults, you know waiting for everyone to get ready for the day can be stressful. However, having breakfast and lunch on most days made our mornings easy and the afternoons relaxing. Most importantly we were able to really enjoy this gorgeous home. A brief rundown of our favorite dishes, chilaquiles, the best guacamole you will ever have, chorizo and eggs, shrimp taquitos, chicken taquitos, and chicken fajitas. The gardens are gorgeous, the pool was a bit cool,(our choice not to pay extra to have it heated) but since we went in June,on the really hot days the pool felt amazing. The house has spectacular views but with the view comes a steep hill that the home sits on. I read reviews that it was walkable. I would say in the summer heat it is not. It is very steep and walking shoes, not sandals are a must. Going down is sort of ok, but coming up hill , I would say no. Lastly, the temperature in the home at night was hot and the home is not air conditioned. While it has fans, the rooms are still warm at night. We did end up opening the balcony doors at night and leaving them open throughout the night. Luckily, that helped but we did get some mosquitos bites. I hope my review helps the next family lucky enough to stay at Paula's enchanting home, it is extraordinary . Monica

If you want an amazing place, this is for you. A house with its own and great personality, with incredible views, 15 minutes walking distance from downtown, with beautiful spaces, large bedrooms and a spectacular pool. Additionally with great service (Elvia is so kind and a great cooker), and with a very responsable and dedicated owner. Now and in the future, one of our favorite places to rest.

A beautiful house within les than 15 min walking from downtown SAM. It’s beautifully decorated and has the most amazing views from the rooftop terrace. It’s perfect for up to 6 people with lots of privacy and space. I definitely recommend. Absolute highlight is also Elvia. She is kind, good hearted and brightens everybody’s day with delicious breakfast. She is an excellent chef as well and we truly enjoyed every meal she made for us upon request. We highly recommend this property.

While this was our first time traveling to San Miguel, I can't imagine a better Airbnb. We've been lucky to stay at some amazing places around the world and this house was one of if not the best. Paula's house is both a work of art and an exceedingly comfortable place to call home. And then there are the specifics: - View: The house sits upon the hill overlooking town. The views are spectacular both day and night. - Location: Paula's home is close enough to walk to town, but far enough removed to be a peaceful and quiet refuge. - Property: Every detail both inside and out has been meticulously thought through. The gardens, the landscaping, the patios on all different levels - Everything offers so many places to relax. You'll feel spoiled. - Pool: The pool is amazing. The photos simply don't do it justice. - Elvia: To have Elvia greet us each morning with homemade breakfast was such a treat. She's so kind and thoughtful. She also cooked us two amazing dinners, welcomed us late at night upon our arrival with margaritas and homemade enchiladas that were divine. During the week she kept the house impeccably clean. Have her make mole sauce - it's the best we've ever had! - Host: We can't thank Paula enough. We had a delay and last minute change with our flight from the US. We called Paula from the airport and asked if it would be possible to check in two days early. With just a few hours notice Paula arranged to have the house ready and to have Elvia receive us. It was the nicest and most accommodating gesture an Airbnb host has ever given us. We can't thank Paula enough. She's a fabulous host and will provide recommendations for restaurants, shopping, activities and anything else you may need. Choose this house and you'll have a stay in San Miguel that will be unforgettable. Thank you, Paula!

Jason, Thank you for one of the best reviews written about our house. I am so happy you had a wonderful time! Please come back. You and your family were exemplary guests.

Our host provided us with the most spectacular stay innSMA. From breakfast to pool to evenings by the multiple fireplaces and roof top terrace all was exceptional pleasure. The villa/house is perched high up the hill from town center. Walking into town requires excellent foot ware. I do not suggest walking up hill to the house as it is very steep and the land elevation is already a mile high. Taxi’s are easy to call or flag down by hand and they are very affordable and comfortable. We loved our stay! CPS

Rarely does our family all agree. We’ve all agreed Paula’s SMA home is a must-do-again. Beautifully designed, well appointed, comfortable, private, this home is a retreat. Everywhere you looked was beauty - the art, the landscaping, the setting, the pool, the terraces, the views over the valley. Breakfast was prepared by the housekeeper Elvia an extraordinary cook. She prepared some of her specialities for our dinners - delicious. I’ve eaten lots of guacamole in my life - nothing touches Elvia’s. Tucked away here and there around the house and property are plenty of places for private alone time. The views of SMA from the upper terraces and porches are spectacular, but there is one view that reigns supreme - make your way up the steps to the roof terrace to watch the sun set behind the mountains. You can walk to the historic central district, or Uber and taxis are everywhere. Our time in Paula’s home was perfect. We will be back.

Thank you Freda for your wonderful review. We welcome you and your lovely family back with open arms.❤️🌹

This home is truly spectacular. It is perched on a hill offering stunning views of the steeples of SMA and the sunset from the rooftop terrace is gorgeous! We were warmly greeted by Elvia who had prepared delicious guacamole and margaritas for our arrival. The house is so beautiful- filled with art and surrounded by beautiful gardens. We had many meals on the terrace, watched sunsets on the terrace and swam in the blue tiled pool. The beds were luxurious and so comfortable. Elvia made daily breakfast that was a highlight! The home is perfection and it was a privilege living there for several days while visiting SMA. Paula helped so much with travel details and recommendations- we can’t say enough good things about this home!

Host Response

Thank so much Molly for your glowing review. We are so happy you enjoyed our home, Elvia and San Miguel. You are welcome back anytime!

A great house in a great location ! We enjoyed the pool and the rooftop sitting area. The housekeeper, Alvia, was a delight. She made us breakfast each morning and one night we stayed home and she served us dinner on the beautiful porch. She also put us in touch with her brother, Luis, who drove us wherever we needed to go. Paula, the owner, is very responsive and easy to get in touch with. You will enjoy your stay here. Bob from Austin.

San Miguel is truly a magical city and Paula's villa was stunning in every way and even better than the online photos present. Paula was very responsive and helpful with tips to maximize our SMA experience. The rooftop deck has the best views in the city, the pool is such an important addition given the sometimes very warm weather (we paid a little extra to have it heated - highly recommended for nighttime swims as well!). Great landscaping and Elvia the housekeeper and cook is fantastic and is happy to help with laundry and makes some of the best food and drinks tailored to your personal grocery shopping list. The home was cleaned every day along with turn-down service and breakfast each morning (and lunch and dinners also possible if you arrange in advance). The home is centrally located and only a 15 minute downhill walk to the Rosewood Hotel /City Center. The house is on the top of a steep hill, so please note that the walk downhill is pretty easy but you will likely want to take a taxi basically every time returning to the home as the uphill walk is difficult on the cobblestones. Overall an amazing experience and the perfect home for our group and we highly recommend!
