We had a great family trip and will be back!

A true gem! Very highly recommend. Casa Palapa was absolutely perfect for our group of four adults and one kid (2 years old). The layout of the house is amazing, with so many places to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings. The pool was such a hit with everyone, including the 2 year old who spent hours every day playing in the water. Easily walkable to the break and near a bunch of delicious beachfront restaurants. The daily housekeeping was a godsend and helped keep us comfortable throughout the weeklong stay. We had someone cook for us at the house for 3 of the 6 nights, and highly recommend! It was so nice to relax after a day of sun and sand in the beautiful house. The beds were comfortable, the towels were fluffy and clean, the kitchen was very well stocked, and the kiddie books left out for our daughter were a huge hit with her! We can't wait to return when our kid is old enough to learn to surf!!

everything was really really great! the house was rustic but super well maintained and very warm

This place really is as good as it gets. We brought our 18 month old son and grandpa for eight nights. This place is absolutely fantastic. The staff is amazing. Rocio was one of the best people we met on our entire trip. She cooked us dinner six out of eight nights and each night was fantastic. The staff on site was attentive and really nice to have every day. Just far enough away from the busyness and party atmosphere of Saladita but close enough that walking to surf every day isn’t a big deal. The house is really a magical piece of architecture. So many details and amazing construction. Half of my trip I was lost looking at The property. You really can’t beat this place. All of the furniture inside and out felt super clean which is amazing being so close to the ocean. We would highly recommend this place and if we ever return to Saladita, we will stay here. Again if you stay here use Rocio you will not be disappointed.

Host Response

Hi Abe! Oh my goodness, thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful review. My mom, Rocio and I are very happy your family had a wonderful stay. Rocio enjoyed cooking for you and getting to know your family. My dad was a lifelong surfer and poured his heart into the design of the house-even constructing the master bed/bedroom at a slight angle to directly face the point. I love your "magical piece of architecture" sentiment.. :) My parents put a lot of love into our home and it makes my heart happy that you could feel that :) Should you return, we will welcome your family back with open arms.. Cheers, Kris

We had an amazing stay at this property for a week in March. The location could not have been better for our needs... a 5-10 min walk down the beautiful beach to to surf or eat at one of the several low-key restaurants. Surf tip: rent a board from Lourdes (they have many quality boards to choose from, and very reasonable rates), and they will let you store it in their rack right near where you paddle out to the point, so you won't have to walk back and forth from the house carrying a longboard. The beach near the house is a little quieter than closer to the point, which we loved. Perfect for swimming, boogie boarding, fishing, etc. The house itself had everything we needed for our family of four (kids 6 and 13). It was spotlessly clean. We really liked hanging out by the small pool which our 6yo loved, and looking out over the ocean. Highly recommend Eli's meal cooking service, which we much preferred to the restaurants. Great house, great host, and great staff. Thank you!

We didn't want to leave! From the moment we arrived, the location and views from this house captivated all of us. It's hard to describe, but it was just immediately comfortable for all of us (family of 4, two teenagers). The house is designed so that everything flows to the outdoors and towards the beach and ocean. And with the weather we had (80's and sunny every day) that was where you wanted to be. Add on to that the 7 minute walk to a fun and friendly point break, with a lineup full of all levels of surfers (Tip, if you don't like to surf with crowds, you will need to get up early). We also had Eli cook us two amazing meals (shrimp tacos and enchiladas), and Rocio arranged massages in the house as well. If we ever go back to Saladita, there will be no doubt about where will be staying. Thanks Kris, Rocio, Eli and Dani for a great end to our Spring Break!!!

Casa Palapa is the perfect family vacation home to experience the best of Saladita. The house, perched just up from the idyllic quarter moon beach, offered a perfect view of the incredible low key point break that we surfed every morning during our stay. It was removed enough from the activity down the beach to feel private, but still just a 5-10 min walk to the restaurants and surf shops that line the southern end of Saladita. Unusual for an Airbnb, our beds were made each morning while we were surfing. I highly recommend having Eli, who the owner Kris recommended, do the shopping and prepare your dinner each night. Her cooking is wonderful and very reasonably priced. We look forward to returning soon!

My friends and I could not have enjoyed our stay any more and only wish we could have stayed longer. This house is spacious and beautiful, the host and caretakers are incredibly responsive and the location was absolutely perfect.

Host Response

Hi Holly! Thank you for the kind words about your stay and our staff. If we could wish anything for our guests it’s that they leave feeling exactly how you and your friends did :) We’re so happy you enjoyed your trip. We hope to see you again.. -Kris and Casa Palapa Staff

This place is so cute. Amazing location with a great view of surf, close to restaurants, and amazing staff. It is also quiet with the sound of ocean at night. I wish there were board racks for surfboard, but there are spots to store them. The internet upstairs was spotty, but they will be replacing that soon. A few minor lighting issues, but such a great response time and fabulous hosting.

Host Response

Hi N Silas! It was wonderful hosting you and your group :) Thank you for the lovely review! We hope to see you again. -Kris and Casa Palapa Staff

We had an amazing stay and will definitely be back. Erwing and the staff were very helpful polite and professional with good local knowledge! The food that was prepared by the staff was so delicious! The property was very well maintained and clean. Can’t wait to come back! Thank you!!!

Host Response

Thank you, Matt! I’m so happy you had a great trip. Come back anytime :)

it was a beautiful house. location is fantastic. the management and house staff were accommodating and friendly. The wifi was down the whole time we were there however. and while i know this is a frustration for the homeowner as well, the other houses next door mostly had their wifi working. so id venture it just needs a small upgrade and then house is perfect. kris doesnt deserve any demerits for tech problems - but had to be honest.

What is my impression of this house? Spotless. I would describe it as a nicely done rustic kind of Spanish/Mexican Colonial-many comforting touches have been done. Very thoughtful. I woke up the first morning and realized I could watch surfers from bed (upstairs room). I loved the birds on the property. There is some sort of fly catcher that built a Weaver‘s nest. White Wing Doves nest in the palm tree in front of the house. Grackles (bird) also had a nest in the same palm tree. It was so cute. Cinnamon Wing Hummingbirds float quietly through the miniature birds of paradise by the pool. I loved having my coffee at the lower palapa deck and watching the waves break. Sunsets are great there too with a glass of wine. Loved the infinity pool. The hostess is very responsive to any kind of questions. She will provide the means to communicate usually via text. I really felt comfortable with her as a host/owner. LOVED IT!

Pretty house right on beach and close to waves. Very helpful and accomodating staff. House is in need of some upgrades tho. Sheets were polyester, I would recommend cotton. Non-teflon pots and pans would of been nice. Lots of furniture was either broken or just very old. We had to tape a bar stool with a broken post… towels were mosty ripped and stained. Drawers in bathroom were very difficult to open as wood was pretty old. Photos to get to house need to be updated as there has been construction since directions were posted in house manual and directions no longer get you there. Its a pretty spot and we did enjoy ourselves but for the cost I expected house to be in better shape.

Host Response

Thank you. I am glad you enjoyed the proximity to the surf and thought the house was pretty. If you had contacted either me or my co-host Erwing during your stay we would have addressed your concerns in real time. My staff and I had an all-hands meeting this week to address each issue you listed. After speaking with our staff I learned of your unusual towel habit. You requested 20 towels per day and spread them out all over the entryway, kitchen and living room because you didn’t want to walk on the floor. We do not have the inventory to supply 20 towels per day while also washing the used ones each day as you requested. You accessed the staff-only laundry room and took more towels. This may have been the worn towels you mentioned-not all towels in the staff laundry room are meant for guests. I also learned you operated a sort of surf hostel out of the house during the surf contest with guest swapping happening (and also requested fresh towels and sheets for new guests.) It is against house rules at Casa Palapa to sublet rooms. You also booked for six people but brought more. It is against house rules to bring more than six people without requesting and paying an extra guest fee per person. Thank you for the alert on the polyester sheet set-they were inadvertently purchased by an employee and all linens are back to house standard (100% cotton or bamboo). The salt air is hard on beach homes in Saladita. We have a carpenter on speed dial who regularly inspects all of our wood furniture. If I had known about the barstool I would have had it swapped out. We hope you find a better fit in your next rental in Saladita. -Kris and Casa Palapa Staff

Kris' Casa Palapa in Saladita is wonderful. It was easy to book, she was accommodating (had a crib and gate and toys for our 1 yo and 6 yo), she gave us lots of information about safety and travel. Arriving there was amazing. Yanet and Angel, who work there, are incredible. We arrived to flowers and smiles. Yanet and Angel are incredible cooks. They made our stay easy. I have never had a vacation in which I truly was on vacation--they took care of everything from cleaning, to shopping, to cooking. Estella from Play Spa Massages provides incredible, intuitive massage in home. We had the best time and will be back! Thank you Kris!

My friends and I stayed at Kris' place on our surf trip. We had a wonderful time! The house is right on the beach, a walkable distance to the beach and restaurants. The house has a lot of character and so much details. You can see that a lot of love has been poured into it. Yaneth and Angel were there to greet us when we arrived and show us around. They also cleaned the house every day and made the beds. And on top of that they cooked us dinner every night, we just had to request it the day before and she would ask us what we wanted. The food was amazing and really affordable. The best! All in all we had an amazing time! Thank you all!

What a perfect week I had with my family! The house is beautiful and location perfect. Boys paddled to the break from in front of the house and I could walk to watch them in minutes. Angel and Yaneth were so kind and friendly and their cooking was insane!!!!! I highly recommend you book them to cook for you your entire stay. Any issues we had (which were so minimal) were taken care of immediately by Kris and Erwing and we had the pleasure of meeting the next door neighbor Curtis who gave us the history of Saladita. So interesting and funny. The trip was a perfect 10 out of 10 and we'd go back in a heartbeat!

This is a charming and authentic house that fits within the area. It is quiet and at a great distance away from the point which can be loud & busy in peak times. There are lots of magic spaces and places within the house to relax especially the rooftop palapa. The option of beach or pool to cool down is great. The staff are very friendly and Yaneth cooks beautiful meals. Lots of artistic features within the house and is perfect for those who love Freda Khalo. We were sad to leave and recommend this house for anyone wanting to stay at Playa La Saladita.

Host Response

Hi Michelle, Thank you for the lovely, detailed review. I am so happy you felt the magic at the Casa and delighted you had a lovely stay. Come back anytime! Kris

Had a lovely stay with friends. House is close to surf break and easy access from the main point. The house has lovely views and a large back covered pool and patio to sit and watch the ocean. The caretaker Erwing is very responsive and can arrange activities or transportation even help when your car gets stuck nearby. The house sits at edge of the jungle so be prepared for with plenty of mosquito repellent or coils in the evening. The pool is nice for taking a dip and is protected from direct sun.

This is a hard review for me to write. Truth be told, I would much rather keep this gem of a house a secret - to protect it and make sure there is availability for us to rent it again...but I know the secret is soon to get out - so here I go. This spot is very magical. The house layout it well done and the decor is beautiful. We ate most all of our meals outside at the community table - however hanging in the kitchen at the counter top and sitting area was lovely too. The bedrooms are BIG and spacious each with their own large bathrooms - hallelujah! One of the bedrooms is right off the kitchen, but it's also deeply set back - it was a none issue for our group. The only issue I could see is if you had loud early risers who wanted to make a noisy breakfast in the morning? The fridge is plenty big making it nice to load up on groceries (I recommend picking up food in Zih before heading in) There is a large freezer for bags of ice! Kitchen is plenty stocked although we had half our meals made - HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend! The pool is more of a dipping pool - so no need to bring a floaty (I mean you could probably fit 2 in there?) but there are seats inside the pool and it's the perfect size dip and chill! We had our whole group of 6 easily chilling in and around the pool. The palapa upstairs is a true delight to have morning coffee and watch the sun come up and check the surf. The whole house caters to lounging and staring at the ocean. Listening to the waves at night was pure magic. We were a group of surfers who brought and stored our own boards at the house. The walk to paddle out took about 10 minutes? It's a beautiful walk and was easily doable for our group. The thing is - there are many fancy houses being built up around the area, but there is really no need to look further than this nugget. It has everything you want and need, plus a lot of soul.

Can’t say enough about what a great location this is. Beachfront, 8 minute walk to the surf break and the half dozen restaurants in La Saladita. The outdoor area including pool and terraced seating area was resort-like and immaculately kept. The indoor seating area just behind the sliding glass infinity doors is so well designed to take in ocean views and sunsets. You feel like you never need to leave your house. There is a house right next door that would share your outdoor space, but it was vacant when we rented for a week in March so definitely not an issue for us. Kris was very responsive to several questions I had, and was super helpful in giving us information about the area. Loved La Saladita and this sweet place - hope we will be back.

My friends and I stayed at Kris's house for a week and absolutely loved it. It is right on the beach and a short walk to a great surf spot. After surfing each morning we were able to relax in an amazing pool which looks out over the point. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Great great location! Amazing communication with both hosts. Extremely helpful hosts to help us with anything we wanted/ needed. Easy to find, 35 minutes north fork Zihuatenejo airport. Such an easy access to beach and the great wave. The pool is medium size but perfect. The house is spacious and open, great in the evenings, with light on the front “terrace”. There is a bedroom/ bathroom that opens in the kitchen space, so keep that in mind. Whoever sleeps there will be waking up by whoever is in the kitchen in am. The space at the top is lovely for sunset and evening chilling. My only “negative” comment is that I think the house needs a little overall TLC, although I am sure having a house literally on the beach is hard to maintain with corrosion and everything.. but a little TLC would bring this house up to a 5 STARS!

This is a great house. The beach is great also. The house has a ver equipped kitchen, big fridge, a small grill, and there was also all kind of spices and seasoning stuff, It has the cleaning included which is big help! Comfortable beds, the terrace is wonderful, with a big and comfortable dinning room, you can spend there all day . The place in the roof is also very nice Air conditioning in the rooms works perfect , as you can open all the doors, breeze will keep fresh the common areas There are a lot of books and board games that you can use It is pretty close to the surf spot Internet worked fine the two weeks we were here It is good that there are a lot of bathrooms

The house has so many amenities, books TV and thoughtful touches. Gorgeous location! Kris and her team are so attentive and have great communication. It was a wonderful trip!!

Host Response

Hi Kristine, Thank you for noticing!! We are so happy you enjoyed your trip. It was a pleasure hosting you and your family.

Kris' house was absolutely fantastic for our group of 4. We had an amazing time using all the spaces and the house was perfectly located for access to everything on the beach. Several of us were working during this time and we LOVED the table out by the patio that had an outlet - a small but powerful touch ;) Erwing was a great co-host and helped us with any questions we had. Really great hospitality and cozy spaces. We will definitely be back!

Host Response

Hi Jane! I am so happy you and your group had a great time and enjoyed the various spaces around the house (and made productive use of the outlets for work!) and beach amenities. Erwing had great things to say about you too and we hope to welcome you back! Take Care...Kris

Kris’s house it’s beautiful in a beautiful location. But had some issues that she needs to repair like fans, apple tv. The cleanliness of the place needs to be better.

Host Response

Hi Gildardo! Thank you for your feedback-I've been in touch with my management team. -I'm told they sent a TV tech right away and he fixed the TV. The Apple TV and Neflix app need personal IDs to sign in. -We were not aware of a fan not working-we are checking them. -We are auditing our housekeeping and making sure there are not any areas being missed. We have year-round housekeeping. The open-air concept and salt air add to the beautiful views and vibes but also require diligence and constant upkeep which we put a lot of effort into. Thanks again for the feedback! -Kris

The place is incredible, first the location, the privacy of the area in which the house is located is enviable and with the practical option of moving in the hustle and bustle if you want it a few kilometers away. We loved the facilities, the rooms are nice and comfortable, eating with that view in the dining room is truly enviable, the sunsets are made of film, the pool is super comfortable and has very parent terraces. The food option they offer is very good, Esther and Toño are very friendly.

Thanks for everything! we had a great stay. All our needs were timely met, even though we travelled with my in-laws who are very demanding. Erwin was always very attentive and ready to help with anything. The property is perfectly located and has a nice touch, spaces are very comfortable and the ocean breeze is fantastic. We’d definitely like to come back.

Hi John! I'm happy you enjoyed Esther's cooking! It was great to have you stay at Casa Palapa during your Saladita trip. Come back anytime! :) -Kris

Super cute house right on the beach could not ask for a better location. The staff is absolutely amazing and they give you a lot of tips on things to do, what to do etc. they will also cook up anything you’d like! We had a small issue and they resolved it right away. It feels very private, the beds are comfortable, and there’s nothing more beautiful than lounging in the pool watching a sunset every night. We only had two couples but the place can easily sleep three couples comfortably with the 3 bedrooms, open space in the living room and the outdoor space where we ended up spending majority of our time.

Host Response

Hi Dorothy, Thank you for the lovely review and for being so open to communication before and during your stay. I appreciate it. Thanks for the tips as well. Happy New Year and we would love to host you again should you ever find yourself in Saladita... Kris
