To give this home 5 stars feels like not enough! From the beautiful home on the beach with the pool to the monkeys, macaws and the sloth; It was truly the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. Sarah was the most amazing host my fiancé and I have ever had. The guest book and her attentiveness, it felt like we had our own travel advisor. You can tell she cares about your trip and showing you the beauty of Costa Rica. I couldn’t be happier with this home and with our host (and the silly monkey guests that stop by for bannanas in the morning!)

This is by far one of the best Airbnb’s I’ve stayed in — not just in Costa Rica, but ever. The 4 ft pool, pool toys, and access to a beach my kids felt super safe swimming in transformed the vibe of the entire trip. The interior of the house is just as beautiful and tidy as described. Scarlet Macaws flew above our heads sporadically every day and we were greeted with a Basilisk lizard when we pulled in. Truly magical for anyone, but if you have kids? There’s no better place to stay in Costa Rica.

Luna del Mar is a magical place! Off the beaten path, and full of charm, the home immersed us in Costa Rica while also making us feel quite at home. Sarah was an exceptional host, providing an abundance of information prior to our stay in order to enrich our experience. She was also extremely helpful, kind, thoughtful, and responsive to a myriad of questions I sent her way. Our kids (4 and 7) loved the pool, toys, books, and drawing materials in the house. Our family enjoyed the semi-private beach, as well as snorkeling (fine — not the best location), surf lesson, chocolate making workshop (highly recommend — it was so fun and such a unique experience for kids!), and massage (wonderful!) right in the comfort of our Airbnb! We were delighted to experience a quinceanera a few doors down at El Coquito (get the tierra y mar fajitas — omg!) and savored the French croissants from La Chocolatica. Maikol (gardener) showed us the resident sloth and brought us fresh coconuts to drink!

Everything is perfect. Tidy and cozy inside, quick WiFi connection, shower works great, the gaps inside the house were very tight, almost no mosquitoes or other insects got in! Private swimming pool is a plus, couple of steps to the black sand beach, super fine sands, and almost private, we stayed one week, only 2 days got some locals suffering around. Many wild animals passed by, we saw kinkajou, parrot, scarlet macaw, white face money, raccoons, hermit crabs and crabs, many lizards and frogs, and the gardener showed us a sloth! He is super nice, show me around and got many fresh coco for us every time!! And you have to call the massage lady Leonela, she is one of the best! Highly recommend this paradise to anyone!!

My family and another family (with 3 small kids <6 yo) went to Playa Zancudo on a whim. We weren’t sure what to expect as we had to take a domestic flight which I highly recommend although it can be slightly bumpy. From there, Sarah gave us connections to a boat ride from Puerto Jimenez. She was always super helpful and giving us recommendations for local activities and logistics. The house itself is somewhat hard to get to but well worth the travel. We felt very safe with the small community. She recommended a local chef Fanny with the sea señoritas. They were fantastic and cooked authentic Costa Rican meals, even some fish we caught on a local charter. We saw all kinds of wildlife (sloths, capuchin monkeys, tons of macaws). The main living area can get hot as it is screened in, but the bedrooms have air conditioners, which is all you need. The beach is only a short walk from the pool, which was nice. Thank you so much for having us and sharing your beautiful property with us!

Sarah’s place in Zancudo was absolutely amazing - beautiful home, great beach access, and an incredible overall experience. Zancudo itself was awesome, and Sarah connected me with Captain Nelson for a couple days of fishing where we reeled in +150 lbs yellowfin tunas. We brought our tuna filets to a local restaurant in Zancudo, Pana Home, and they prepared it for us in all different kinds of ways. We had an amazing time and I can’t wait for the chance to come back!

I loved Sarah’s place. It was just what my husband and I needed. Peaceful, relaxing paradise. The beautiful surroundings and the pool, the animals( frogs, birds, monkeys, lizards, etc.) made us feel like we were in the blue lagoon movie. The locals were so friendly. Sarah gave us some options for a personal chef/caterer and we went with Muriel. She made brunch and dinner for us our entire stay with desserts. Muriel’s food was exceptional and her pastries were delicious. Sarah is the best host I’ve experienced on Airbnb so far. She responded quickly and checked in on us without being bothersome. We had massages at the house with Leonella which were excellent as well and reasonably priced. We will be coming back.

This place will exceed your expectations! What a gem! Sarah is an amazing host and wants to make your trip the best it can be. Always responsive with great recommendations. The location is private with a beach that is to die for. At times (most of the time through the week) it’s as though you have the whole beach to yourself! Words will not be able to describe what Zancudo is all about. I highly recommend this place! I hope to return! I would not hesitate to rent any place that Sarah is the host of!! Thank you Sarah!

We loved absolutely everything about Luna Del Mar and Zancudo. The house, the beach, the property, the wildlife, the pool…all of it was as just phenomenal. I could honestly write a novel about how amazing this experience in CR was for our family of four. After you book this place, be sure to study the guest book that Sarah graciously put together. There are so many awesome recommendations for activities, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. We loved Zancudo as our home base for this trip, and also took advantage of some horseback riding at Tiskita Lodge and off-shore fishing with Pavones Hunter. Everyone we encountered was kind and most spoke enough English to be helpful. Definitely stop into Chocola Tica for a delicious meal, creamy coffee, yummy pastries, and a beautiful view with a breeze. One thing to note for kiddos is that off the steps, the pool has no shallow end, all is 5ft. However several life vests of all sizes are provided as well as toys and floats. We will be back for sure!
