Great place to stay!

We had a wonderful stay and wish we had booked this property from the beginning. The location was perfect—walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, and other conveniences, yet it still felt like we were surrounded by the beauty of the Costa Rican jungle. We saw plenty of wildlife while feeling safe and secure throughout our stay. The home was very clean, well maintained, and stocked with everything our family needed. The hosts were incredibly responsive and accommodated us on very short notice after we unexpectedly needed a new place to stay. Being located on the main highway also meant much more reliable power than the more remote properties in the area, which gave us real peace of mind. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this Airbnb to anyone looking for the perfect balance of convenience, comfort, and an authentic jungle experience.

Fantastically beautiful cottage with all the necessary amenities (barbecue, kitchen utensils, bathrobes, air conditioning, etc. -- but no dishwasher or washing machine). The house was neatly tidy and very clean. However, we did not feel entirely comfortable with the cameras in the garden and were sorry that we had to turn on the hot water and the air conditioning again and again during the many power outages (in the entire neighborhood). Also be aware that from the main road, you have to drive about 10 minutes on a dirt road (which didn't bother us). But all in all, we had a wonderful stay in this luxurious house! A nice bonus was the capuchin monkey that climbed over the fence every evening, the hummingbird that nested in the garden, and the toucans that we saw flying in the tall trees of the rainforest!

Host Response

Thank you so much, Tim, for staying with us and for taking the time to share such a detailed review. It was truly a pleasure to receive you. We greatly appreciate your feedback and will consider the possibility of incorporating backup systems (UPS) to minimize the inconvenience caused by power outages. Casa Amalfi is immersed in the tropical rainforest of the Costa Rican Caribbean, where the electrical infrastructure can present these types of challenges. The cameras located exclusively in the outdoor areas of the property (common areas) are intended to provide greater security for both our guests and the facilities. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the wildlife that surrounds us: the monkeys, hummingbirds and toucans are part of the magic that makes this corner of the Caribbean so special. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again to Casa Amalfi on a future visit to Costa Rica ✨

Nice pool and overall beautiful looking place. Near a couple restaurants and pharmacy. You can hear many of the animals and critters around. Overall a nice place but pricing a little high for reasons stated below. It’s 10-15 mins into town. Beach wasn’t as close as I thought . If you can find the small entrance it’s about a 10 min walk. Some things a little outdated and needed fixing for the price. One shower didn’t have hot water, toilets were finicky and screen only windows were coming off. There were two areas that had roof leaks. There is no A/C in the main living, kitchen and bathrooms. Just in the sleeping rooms. However due to bugs and weather you couldn’t open windows because there are no screens . A couple areas only had screens. A little different than expected. Intimidated to have food there and cook with how quickly ants and bugs come in. Not sure this is typical for all places. Would have been beneficial to have washer and dryer for the size and price

It was a good option for our family. We liked the pool, the house was clean with nice touches. The stove and oven are portable, but worked well for us (we cooked most of our meals). The drive was a bit longer inside the neighborhood than I would liked it to be, but not an issue with a small SUV or 4x4. About 15-20 min drive to great restaurants and 20-25 min to Punta Uva and Manzanillo beaches (we found those two as our favorite). We thank the host for their attention to details and a great accommodation.

Very nice place. However, the noise from nearby construction sites was annoying and we were not able to fully enjoy our stay. The location is quite remote and the road leading there is in poor condition. The pool water was cold, and some facilities are starting to show signs of rust. Overall, the experience was okay, but it did not feel like a 5-star standard.

Host Response

Thank you so much for staying with us and for your 5-star rating. We really appreciate you sharing your experience. We're sorry to hear that the noise affected your rest. Our neighbors are about to open a new concept in February, which probably explains the increased activity. As it's a growing area in Puerto Viejo de Limón, these situations can be temporary. Our property is located off the main road, in a tropical jungle setting where the streets are rustic and fit the sea and jungle surroundings, though it's easily accessible by regular car. Regarding the pool, it's not heated (as indicated in the listing), and we recently had a cold front in Costa Rica that affected the water temperature. We sincerely appreciate your feedback. We strive every day to make our guests feel at home and enjoy the natural beauty around us. ✨
