This place truly immerses you into the culture and atmosphere of San Miguel, as it is and was. Location, amenities, view, services... impeccable. Viki is outstanding and the entire property is like stepping into a private museum of tradition and heritage. Remarkable place.

I highly recommend experiencing a stay in this true gem. It's an old house, full of history and charm, with impeccable maintenance. Every space is meticulously cared for, and the property is a true work of art. For my husband and me, it was one of the most beautiful and peaceful places we've ever stayed at. The location is unbeatable, and both the host and the house staff were always very friendly and helpful. We traveled with our dogs, who really enjoyed the stay and all its stairs. 🐾 We loved feeling that it was a very safe place for them, extremely clean and well maintained. Don't miss the opportunity to stay here. The experience is worth much more than what you pay. Thank you for having us and allowing us to enjoy such a special place. We would definitely come back! ❤️

A rare find 10/10 accommodation, highly recommended! This place is like a museum inside a home. Located in the center of Sant Miguel. If I go back to this city, it will be mainly to stay again at this 400 years old colonial house. There will be a maid welling to make for you breakfast/ lunch upon request. Nice and cozy pool, and a beautiful rooftop where you can watch the old city and the sunset. Luxurious, cozy, and authentic home. Also the host is a well traveled and a professional gentleman.

This was our second time staying at Robert’s place. Really glad we came back and were able to share the experience with the friends we brought along.

San Miguel is our home away from home!! We've stayed in so many Airbnb's & casa San Andres is truly the best location, walking distance from everything, never felt the need to taxi or Uber. As for the home, as soon as you walked in, it was very welcoming. From the decore, the cleanliness, the beautiful landscaping, & the breathtaking views from the terrace! It was truly one of our favorite homes! We also enjoyed an amazing dinner, prepared by Viki, the cook. She's a great cook! It was one of our favorite meals! The room on the 2nd floor was a little warm, making it a little uncomfortable to sleep. However, when speaking to the maid right before checking out. she mentioned there were fans available. I never asked, so that was my mistake. Roberto was an amazing host! I never had an issue communicating with him. He was very responsive and always responded in a timely manner. Our experience at Casa San Andres was great!

Robert's place is amazing, very clean, private, and well-appointed. It's a very relaxing and peaceful place. The wi-fi worked well. The location is perfect. We were within walking distance of everything. We opted for having snacks upon our arrival, and breakfast made at the house on the morning of our departure. All was delicious. Many thanks to Isabel. We very much appreciated Robert's responsiveness and the plethora of helpful information about the house, the services available, and ideas for exploring SMA. I have stayed at many AirBnb's in SMA over the years. Robert's is truly one of the best.

We had an amazing stay at this Airbnb in San Miguel and would absolutely book again. The home was exactly as pictured, beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. The house staff was wonderful and truly made the experience special, especially with the incredible mango pico they prepared for us. The host communicated clearly and made everything from check in to departure smooth and stress free. The location is also unbeatable, close to everything and perfect for exploring the city. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting San Miguel!

It is a lovely, very authentic home. You will feel as if you are living in colonial Mexico. The views from the upper terrace are spectacular. Most importantly you are close to the best parts of San Miguel. If you are in anyway compromised in the mobility department…this is not for you. All of SMA is a challenge in walking … with uneven surfaces and many stairs. If you are able to manage it, it is so worth it!

Perfect location!

Truly one of the most beautiful homes I've ever stayed. Every surface is a feast for the eye -- from art, to objects, to textiles, to tile, to lighting. It's perfectly located on maybe the most beautiful street in San Miguel -- with views of the cathedral and all of the vistas around it. You feel like you're in a hidden gem -- with a lovely little pool, wood-burning fireplaces, and all sorts of gorgeous nooks and crannies. What a gem!

This is the second time I have stayed at Robert’s place. It is beautifully decorated and comfortable. The outdoor spaces are equally gorgeous. There is something intriguing to see literally everywhere you look. Utterly comfortable as well for all six guests. Maybe the stars of the show are the lovely staff, especially Viki, who is an exceptional cook. We truly felt we were in the lap of luxury, while right outside our door was beautiful San Miguel de Allende. I dream of returning!

First time in San Miguel did not disappoint. Robert’s place was like nothing we’ve ever stayed in. What a find. Felt like a different world. Traveling with two kids (ages 10 and 13) plenty of space and used the pool everyday (thankfully it was heated and they loved it after long days of walking around). Also Isabel - made it great breakfasts and was so nice. Would definitely recommend and we can’t wait to come back someday.

Robert's home is the most beautiful casa in all of San Miguel de Allende. It is uniquely furnished with outstanding art, local ceramics, oriental carpets, and fascinating books. Every single room is filled with warm colors, soft light and comfortable places to sit. We felt as if we were living in a dream! Even the bathrooms are works of art with gorgeous tiles and paintings. Although, there are many levels between the rooms, it creates the charm of the home. My 90 year old mother stayed in a bedroom at the top of house and was delighted with the warmth, light and balconies of the yellow room. Vicki is such a fabulous cook (and my mother is Mexican) that we took breakfast in Robert's dining room every morning then enjoyed tasty soups and salads in the afternoons. We had the lovely pool so heated we could cool off on hot afternoons. We even enjoyed a night swim on our last evening in heaven!

This is really a perfect place if you are 4 to six people, want to be located in the historic center of SMA and like Spanish colonial style. After excursions and walks around town, you can return here, enter through the door into the courtyard wall and relax in the peaceful patio sitting area, take a dip in the pool, or enjoy the beautiful salon with windows onto the street and be entertained by the passerby’s. The weather was cool during our stay and we enjoyed the fireplaces on the patio, in the salon and the bedroom. The wood was easy to light with fas lighters, and the supplied wood was fragrant. The bedrooms open off the courtyard and were private and relatively quiet (for SMA). The bathrooms were clean with plenty of hot water and the fixtures drained well. The house staff were great. Ignacio comminicated well, and Isabel was there most days. She prepared wonderful breakfasts to order, and made the rooms each day. She respected our privacy but also was helpful and enjoyable.

Robert's house is impeccable, everything is perfectly thought out for an incredible stay, Isabel's service was excellent and her food delicious, the location is privileged and everything is close to you, there is a boarding house around the corner where you can park your car, the rooms were very comfortable as well as the common areas, we really liked the decoration, very San Miguel style, it's really worth it

The cost of extras such as the pool is high. It would really be worth considering making an agreement with a car rental company since the house does not have parking spaces

Host Response

We try to keep our prices as low as possible, but they cover our expenses. We haven't increased them since 2020, even though everything has gone up a lot in the last five years. And like most properties in the historic center of San Miguel, we don't have parking. Only a small percentage of our guests come by car. As we mentioned in our house information, those who do so should know that they will have to look for street parking or pay to be in a parking area.

Simply magical! Historic beautiful decor, super comfortable beds and furniture overall, wood burning fireplaces, gorgeous bathrooms with tiled tubs (loved!) and the pool and area around the pool was tranquil and pristine. Beautiful flowers at every turn. Coffee on the terrace w 360 views was special. Everything was walkable! The housekeeper Viki was kind, welcoming and super efficient! We loved her. We loved the house! The Host Robert was quick to reply and super helpful! We had an amazinf time. ❤️❤️

Casa Nueva España gave us the days we needed to relax and at the same time, enjoy the city of San Miguel when we wanted to. The location is unbeatable, even for us who arrived by car, there is a parking lot 2 minutes from the house. Downtown is very close and you have all kinds of establishments within reach. My children really enjoyed the afternoons with a warm pool. Isabel's cooking is delicious, certainly much better than many restaurants! She made us feel at home, always very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back to visit SMA and stay at Casa Nueva España again.

This home is so very unique and insanely gorgeous. We could not get over the city views, the beautiful areas to gather and relax, the pool, and, wow!, the art in every room! Every time we walked into an area, we'd see something new to our eyes - just stunning decor. We felt very comfortable and safe in the home and surrounding areas in San Miguel. The home is perfectly located to walk everywhere. The housekeeper, groundskeeper and manager were so very helpful and responsive and made our stay extraordinary. We cannot wait to come stay again! Highly, highly recommend staying in this lovely home.

This is a beautiful, historic property decorated with amazing art and antiques. I really appreciated all the details in Robert’s house! The location was on one of the most scenic streets in SMA and a five min walk to the main sq- couldn’t have asked for better. Robert was a great host and his recommendations for restaurants/drinks/shopping were all great. And Viki was so sweet and a fabulous cook!! Definitely recommend this place!

What a beautiful home in the perfect location. Our family really enjoyed the 400 year old Colonial! The location was ideally located to enjoy San Miguel de Allende. In between the main square and Benito Juarez Park. The owner provided a staff that prepared daily breakfast or lunch and also did our laundry! She is wonderful. The home is as described and looked even better in person. They have carefully curated and designed. We would definitely stay in this home again and with this owner who has another property in the area!

The house is even more beautiful in person than the photos in the ad, the layout of the house is very cozy which made us use all the spaces; Isabel's food is delicious, it is easy to select a menu and always on time to serve it, adapting to your schedules. The location is really good, 2 blocks from the cathedral. The only downside is that in the mornings you hear a lot of fireworks and church bells. I imagine it's good luck if it's for a party or special celebration.

Our group thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We used the pool just about every day. If you're looking for a quiet area of town, this is not it. The church bells start early! Explosive fireworks (assuming it's a Holy Week tradition, and not always present) were loud and even startling at times, but didn't go past 10 PM. If you're looking for a walkable area and a home that feels both historic and cozy, this is the perfect choice. Good restaurants were within walking distance, like Mestiza and Cafe Rama. El Manantial was perfect for tacos and margaritas! Loved the park and the plaza for local culture and the diverse bird population. We enjoyed Isabel's tortilla soup, but mostly ate out. I loved my mornings in the library. Loved City Market and wish we'd gone earlier in the week to stock up on more items for the week. If you are lucky enough to stay here, enjoy! SMA is a beautiful place, and it's the ideal spot from which to enjoy the lively city.

This is the absolute most beautiful place to stay with a very warm staff. It was centrally located and a beautiful space for our group. The added staff made it a luxurious vacation to be taken care of so well.

The house is nicely located between Parque Juarez and the Jardin. The house itself is a large rectangle much longer than wider. You enter the house on the right side of the rectangle and are immediately greeted by a large open outdoor space lush with plants that leads to a sitting area and then the dining area followed by the kitchen, and yet another sitting area. On the left side of the rectangle you begin with an ornately furnished living room, followed by an office, the master bedroom which leads into a wardrobe area and bath. There are two bedrooms upstairs of more modest size along with a shared bathroom. There are many positives in this home, e.g., the location, it is relatively quiet despite the next-door construction. It’s obviously very spacious and tastefully decorated however it is dark as many of these colonial homes tend to be. As mentioned there are many steps as one needs to go up or down to go from one room to the next. We were very appreciative of the pool.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a 300-year-old house in San Miguel Allende, and it truly exceeded all expectations. The house is impeccably maintained, showcasing the classic charm of an old Mexican hacienda. The decor transported me back in time and added an authentic touch to my experience. One of the highlights of this stay was the exceptional location - being in the heart of San Miguel Allende meant that all points of interest were easily accessible on foot. It was a joy to wander through the vibrant streets and soak in the rich culture of the area. The host of the house was incredibly communicative and made sure that every aspect of our stay was seamless. Additionally, the house staff were attentive and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. A special mention goes to Isabella, whose delicious breakfasts started each day on a high note.

Wonderful location and absolutely a designers haven. Only a short walk to the Jardin. The house is full of character and charm. Roberts staff saw to every need quickly and made the stay effortless. We would definitely choose to stay again when we return.

Our stay at Casa Andres was nothing short of a fairytale. As previous reviews and the description outline, Robert's home has been meticulously decorated with unique art from around the world. Every day I discovered new details that had been overlooked previously. The master bed was delightful, perfect for the days we wanted to sleep in. The pool was heated to the ideal temperature, and the rooftop patio has a phenomenal view. Viki made a delicious welcome pot of Pozole (highly recommend) along with several other snacks which were greatly appreciated after a long morning of travel. Robert's communication was top notch...he's a true delight and highly professional. The location is as good as it gets, close to the Jardin and Parroquia, shopping, nightlife. The fridge was stocked upon arrival. I mean, what more can you ask for? Bravo to Robert for creating a unique, warm, and welcoming home and allowing others to step inside his creation, if only for a short while.

What a truly beautiful property! The condition is outstanding. The Gardner made sure it was always clean, well designed and all plants looked healthy and offered shade and a gorgeous environment. The kitchen was fully equipped. The staff was outstanding. I can’t say enough about this amazing colonial home. I would caution anyone with mobility or stability issues, however, as there are multiple levels and many stairs.

Host Response

Barbara, thanks so much for adding this note about stairs and multiple levels. It is in our listing notes, but some people miss it. It's always good to point it out again!

This place is really lovely. It's an historic home that is beautifully furnished. Isabel, the housekeeper/cook is wonderful. Her meals were delicious and she was extremely helpful. Robert responded immediately to any problems we had. Unfortunately, our first night there was the coldest night maybe in the history of SMA. Like most homes in SMA, there is no heat. We were not able to get the fireplace going & the bathroom heater didn't help much. I don' t know if anything would have helped because it was 40 degrees! Robert's exhaustively complete instructions provided the name of doctors who made house calls, & one came to look at my husband who was sick. It warmed up and things got better. While the large main bedroom could definitely use brighter light (we weren't able to read at night), the living room is a fabulous room. The location is amazing, the house is beautiful, the trip was fabulous. Robert is a great host, the town is stunning, the house very special.

Host Response

Thanks for pointing these things out, Pam! I've asked my staff to put brighter bulbs in the principle bedroom and bath. We're also upgrading the bath heaters as needed to work better when we have unusually cold weather. It is rare, but it can happen. Thanks again!

Our family enjoyed every day at Robert’s home. We had our (almost) 8 year old granddaughter with us, and she was so happy to start her day, after a delicious breakfast prepared by Isabel, playing in the pool. And after our daytime adventures, she looked forward to her pool time again. The house was clean, comfortable, and “authentically” Mexican. Was just the experience we wanted. It was well located….about 2 flat blocks to the jardin. Although we have traveled to San Miguel often, we had never spent Christmas there. It was magical! We celebrated our granddaughter’s birthday at the house, and Isabel helped us hang papel picado and string up a piñata! One of the highlights of our trip was painting catrina dolls with Guadalupe, an experience suggested in the listing. We highly recommend it, for adults and children. Robert was always responsive and helpful, and we appreciated his attentiveness. We highly recommend Casa Nuevo Espana!

Robert's place was delightful. It is a beautiful, historic home...comfortable and welcoming. It is walking distance to restaurants, shopping, & sight seeing. He provided a comprehensive list of things to do which was very helpful. The highlight of the trip was Viki. She was terrific! She not only kept everything spotless, she excelled in the kitchen and cooked the most delicious meals. Highly recommend the poblano soup! It was a wonderful birthday trip.

Our stay at Robert’s place in Mexico was unforgettable! We spent the week celebrating our birthdays. The house was even more stunning than the pictures, spacious, and clean. The pool was a dream: clean, deep, and perfectly warm, making it the perfect spot to relax. Isabel the housekeeper and chef was incredible! Every meal she prepared was delicious and she went above and beyond to make our birthday celebrations extra special. We can’t wait to return someday. Thank you Robert!

Robert was excellent at communication, and the place was spotless. The housekeeper, Isabelle, was very helpful with anything we needed. The kitchen was clean and well-stocked, and the living room was extremely impressive. The location is amazing, and the house overall is very impressive. However, there were a few drawbacks. The blankets on the bed were old, cotton, and torn. Given how impressive the house is, upgrading the bed linens would definitely enhance the experience. Also, it’s a very old house, and two of the bedrooms are quite small. Lastly, there’s a neighbor across the street who practices drums, and they can get quite loud. But I guess that’s just part of the local atmosphere at night!

Host Response

Thanks to Blaise for pointing out that the blankets needed to be updated! We've already replaced them. As for the neighbor and his drums, we have reported the situation to the authorities and hope to have it resolved soon. We have a group of neighbors who are also concerned, and they are working on it as well.

One of the best rooftop experiences in San Miguel.

Rob's place is a dream--honestly offering the definition of a magical San Miguel de Allende experience (and i know, having been nearly 20 times including my wedding!) The house is cool, creative, clean and welcoming; Viki, who takes care of the day-to-day, is the best; and Rob is as easy to communicate with as anyone i've met on Airbnb. What about the location??... uff... to die for. Enjoy it, folks... it IS what you're looking for.

This is our third time staying with kids in SMA and can vouch that the location, staff and home are top notch. Viki and Juan were great. While we could talk to them a bit in Spanish, we often used [commonly used messenger app] to message with Viki to make sure we weren't miscommunicating the details for breakfast, etc. You can tell the building was designed and appointed by an architect with a vision, it all works really well. Aldama street had other smaller Airbnbs nearby such that my brother's family was able to stay close by.

This is my second time staying at this home. It is a hidden treasure and experience has been second to none. You can’t beat the location and view of the town from the terrance. Vicky is an exceptional cook with great recommendations. Juan was there for any type of maintenance incident and Ignacio is a great manager. Rob was anlways accessible and made the stay there that much better. I will recommend this place to my family and friends. This house is truly a paradise.

Great location. Loved the pool and Isabel the housekeeper was very nice. Struggled with the hot weather and not being able to cool the rooms adequately. We did receive an extra fan, but not enough for all the rooms. There were also many steps, especially in the twin bathroom. I was glad I brought nightlights. Overall we had a great time and were happy to have all the space and the lovely patio. Robert also answered all the messages quickly and accommodated our ever changing arrival and departure times due to airline changes.

Host Response

Thanks so much for taking the time to review! The heat wave in Central Mexico this May and June was been unprecedented, and I'm sorry you weren't able to get cool enough. July, August and September are generally much cooler months in San Miguel. I was surprised about the comment steps. We've been living in and renting it for over 25 years and this is the first time someone has mentioned it. Many people rent our place year after year because for a colonial home in the Historic Center of San Miguel, it is mostly on one level. Thank you for pointing it out! For future guests, I will update the description to mention the location and number of steps between rooms. Thanks again, Dana, for being such a great guest. We hope to host you and your family again soon!

This place is just absolutely beautiful! It is like a dream mexican hacienda with a gorgeous pool and terrance at the top where you see the main church so close is unbelievable! It is way more beautiful than the pictures, everything in it was just perfect. Vicky cooked breakfast for us the whole time and everything was so delicious. She made our stay even better! We’re already planning to come bak to this beautiful house very soon!

AMAZING, this place makes you feel transported to colonial times in a street with breathtaking views of the San Miguel Chapel. Just couple of small blocks from the main square and accessible to dozens of restaurants. The friendly staff (Vicky & Juan) made us feel at home with outstanding service attitude, the only regret we had was not to have more time to stay!!! Our host Robert and Nacho were always very proactive and communicative, we look forward to stay again in Casa San Andres and will recommend it to all our friends.
