4BR Villa in La Paz

Excellent, 2 months ago

We had an excellent time in this property, the house is really nice. The kids had a great time at the infinity pool. Great communication with Saidee, she was very responsive.

Great place to stay.

Host Response

We look forward to your return on your next fishing adventure to La Paz :)

The house is perfect as seen in the photos, the owners are super attentive. The only thing that takes away some points is that it is somewhat remote and the road is very lonely.

I'll start with the positives. This is a very nice well kept home with a nice pool and good space for a large party. I received a pin with the accurate location a few hours before arrival. There was an issue with a mouse nest in the oven when we opened it but it was fixed in about 12 hours, but it raises the question of how thoroughly the house was actually cleaned before we arrived. We did run into issues with host communication and not feeling safe around the area. There were multiple house alarms that went off nearby early in the morning. This cause Rich to show up in the back yard suddenly at 7 am as he thought that the home was being broken into. I'm not sure if that has been an issue in the past but it gave us concern. In addition there are dogs in the neighborhood that will chase your car (and kids if out walking). In fact Rich did not recommend that we leave the property to walk at all. There is no gate surrounding as many nearby properties have. We didn't feel quite safe due to the area so we just wanted to put the concern out there. We in the end decided to move properties, something I've never done before, to ensure the safety of our party which is where things got a bit worse. I contacted the host through airbnb to request to shorten the stay and got absolutely no response. I then contacted Airbnb directly for help and was told to book another place and move if safety was a concern. Airbnb attempted to contact the hosts, Rich and Bev for another 24 hrs until finally they responded to them. Then Bev called and said she would be at the home to check us out within 15 minutes and proceeded to check every bedroom and bathroom while we were still packing to leave. All the while making comments such as "maybe our desert isn't for you" which really put us off. I think as a host, comments such as those are inappropriate. I think response time should be better to inquiries, and if I'm on vacation with my family I don't want to lose time having to ensure our safety or have to contact Airbnb for additional support. So in short, it is a nice home, not the best area and a bit of a drive to La Paz. The host should respond quickly and respectfully to all guests as this does affect the experience.

We stayed at Rich and Bev's El Centenario house for 6 nights in June 2021, and had a lovely experience. The house is as advertised... the pool, hot tub, fire pit and air conditioning all worked well. The house was clean and well equipped. And the property manager hosts were incredibly communicative, helpful and responsive. The main house, casita and master-bedroom dwelling are all spacious and very nice. As noted in at least one other previous review, a family with small children would probably want to squeeze into the main house with its two bedrooms and three beds, as the master bedroom suite is not in the same building. And the guest casita feels even more detached, with access via the front driveway. It is a great place for 3 or 4 adult couples... or one family with kids and some additional adults. I personally stayed in the guest casita and found it incredibly comfortable. Everyone enjoyed their rooms, and we made use of all of them with our group. The village of El Centenario is about a 20-25 minute drive from the heart of La Paz. Our group ended up making that drive 1 or 2 times per day for activities in La Paz, including renting a catamaran for a day from the marina. The village itself has a small grocery on the highway which is handy, and it is about 10 minutes to get to the Walmart and such on the edge of La Paz proper. There are also a few simple restaurants, but they aren't nearly as good as many of the restaurants in La Paz. The whole "neighborhood" consists of dirt roads and does feel a bit "out there", especially on first arrival. But Bev checked us in and the house was so nice that we quickly settled in comfortably. The pool is amazing and is definitely long enough for proper lap swimming even! Overall it is a great get away.

This is a great house in a quit (except for some dogs!) location. Good view and very spacious. The kitchen is well equipped and beds are comfy. Bev is the property manager and was great to work with and has many contacts such as chefs, transport, etc. I highly recommend this house for a nice vacation in the La Paz area.

My three friends and I wanted a comfortable environment for our stay in La Paz - and Rich & Bev's house in El Centenario exceeded our expectations ! A beautiful home with super comfortable furnishings and spaces, and wonderful tips for local restaurants and attractions helped our group relax and luxuriate. Really a fantastic place to stay, and Rich & Bev will be our go-to contacts when we return to the Baja area. Many thanks for a wonderful stay --

Beautiful house, and excellent hosts. They are by far the most responsive and easiest hosts to interact with that I've experienced with vacation rentals. They make sure every question is answered quickly and any issue is taken care of immediately. The house is really an excellent place for groups - the fire pit and hot tub were key for us, as we stayed on an unusually cold week in January and the kids spent most of the first couple days in the hot tub! Rich takes good care to ensure it is working properly for guests. The fire pit was a lovely place to relax at night once the kids were asleep. We were a group of two families with young kids, ages 2 to 7. The home is essentially three separate buildings, a common set up in this part of Mexico. One family stayed in the main house, with two bedrooms. The other family slept in the casita, which had a double bed and a fold out couch. We were unable to use the beautiful master bedroom as it would be difficult for us to sleep in a separate building from our kids (each building has its own lock, key, and should be kept locked at night as the premises is not secured - so young kids cannot realistically sleep in the main house while parents sleep in the master). Upon our check out, we mentioned this issue and they did say that one of the sleeper couches could be moved into the master, so that could be an option for kids who are good sleepers. From the house, it is a 20 minute drive into La Paz central area, where the boardwalk and restaurants and shops are. It was an easy drive and we had no issues driving back and forth each day. The El Centenario neighborhood is pretty much all dirt roads, but our minivan did just fine on the dirt roads. The hosts are in the same neighborhood so they are able to come over quickly in case of any issue. The hosts helped us book a cooking service which we took advantage of for some of the meals. The cook makes delicious food - we loved the posole and the enchiladas. The service is expensive but worthwhile for the convenience, especially if you have a bunch of kids. The kitchen is fully stocked so cooking meals is certainly feasible, and there are supermarkets around and even a Walmart 10 minutes away to get groceries. Overall, we loved the house and found it to be a great place for our stay.

Rich and Beverly were great hosts. Their place is amazing. Bev's attention to the guests is superb. The food and service provided by the cooks was delicious. The rooms and living area are very comfortable. The pool and hot tub were great, we stayed there and enjoyed the great view for an entire day. Bev's knowledge of La Paz really helped us out, she recommended delicious restaruants. Everything about our experience was top notch. You can see that this group of people really enjoys doing what they do, and that reflects in the great service and experience we had as a group. Congratulations and keep up the good work!
