Island House

The Airbnb in Roatán was absolutely beautiful! The views were incredible, and the house was decorated really nicely. You can tell the hosts put a lot of thought into little things like having a coffee maker, coffee pods, and kitchen basics. It felt super homey and cozy. That said, we did run into a few issues. The water situation was tough — we didn’t have hot water at all during our stay, and sometimes we didn’t have any water at all, which made it hard to shower or even brush our teeth. We were told we might’ve used too much water, but a maintenance guy later said there was a leak from a broken part, so that was frustrating. There were also a lot of bugs inside the house — we found roaches in the rooms — and that made us pretty uncomfortable. Some stuff in the kitchen was hard to find too (like the blender pieces were in totally different places), and the pots and pans were super small for such a big house, which made it hard to cook for everyone. We have been to Roatan many times and love staying at Lighthouse Estates. Ochos Palmas was so comfortable and the beautiful outdoor spaces made our trip. We loved the swings at the Palapa and thr overall spaces that were ample for our family of 9! Island House was also so awesome facilitating an early and late check in-out. We really appreciated the mid-week cleaning service too! We hope to come back to Ochos Palmas soon!
