We had a great stay at Steve's place in Playa Pelada. Everything worked out fine, great communication with the host. The house itself is lovely, with lots of character, and just off the beach. Would definitely recommend!
Steve’s property is everything we could have imagined and more! We had everything we needed for first time visitors to Costa Rica. Steve held our hands through the whole process! We used a shuttle (that Steve arranged!) from Liberia airport and can recommend that for anyone. Most people around us seemed to rent SUV 4x4 cars. We did just fine with TukTuks and walking! We highly recommend a tuktuk for hot times of day! The yoga pavilion is a perfect spot for peaceful practices. The walk to the beach is so short and lovely! And THE BEACH… sigh…is so magical! Walk to Sunrise coffee and bodega. Super easy walk down the beach to restaurants: La Luna and Olga’s. About a 20-30min beach walk to Howler’s and great shopping in Guiones! We are forever grateful we chose this property and thank Steve for hosting us! We will count the days until we can get back to Playa Pelada… and Steve’s gorgeous oasis! Thank you, Steve!

Really nice experience. Magical place. Quiet and calm and local.
Lovely unique place in the less developed and more 'Costa Rica' beach. Brilliant hand built craftsmanship structure. Spotless clean. Wood environment. Not for 'city slickers'...but if you've ever owned a cabin cottage or camp or has spent much time in nature you will have found your dream holiday. If you're looking for more developed this isnt the place for you. We were overjoyed that it felt exactly like our island cottage in Northern Ontario but in the tropics. Immediately planned our return visit. Very quiet beach perfect surroundings.

Cool place in a great location. Some of the amenities are shared, which works out well if you’re blessed with good neighbors. Really cool pool breezeway area that I wasn’t expecting— good for meals or games, or just reading a book in the shade. Construction next-door from dawn to dusk. This seems to be a Nosara-wide problem, but be aware.
We had a wonderful week at Steve and Julia’s property - the house was beautiful, and we felt happily immersed in the nature of Nosara. Can’t wait to go back!
Host Response
Abbey, we were so happy you guys stayed with us! Glad you all enjoyed your stay. Please say hello to Ella and of course Ray. Steve and I got such a kick talking with him. Never short of things to say😎❤️🙏
This was exactly what we were looking for: Tranquil, gorgeous surroundings; quick walk to the beach; wonderful timber architecture; a friendly and responsive host. We loved it and would come back! Oh, and we saw the resident monkey family, including several tiny babies. It was one of the highlights of our stay :)

We loved our stay at Casa Pagoda. Steve was super helpful and responsive, and the rental was beautifully crafted and cozy. The property felt private and tucked away, but within 5 min you can walk to the main street in Playa Pelada to get basic groceries and dinner. The private path out to the beach was convenient and Playa Pelada was calm for swimming and boogie boarding. You can walk down the beach to a few restaurants, and take a short path south to Playa Guiones to watch the surfers. Our rental car fell through but we were able to get around via tuk tuk quite easily. We woke up to howler monkeys in the trees and I saw two toucans while drinking my coffee one morning!

Steve and Julia are extremely welcoming, The accommodation is very pleasant, made by Steve himself and in close proximity to a wild beach mainly occupied by locals. We will be back with pleasure to stay at this property.
This place feels really special, worked well for our family of 4. The ability to walk to the beach, and the magic of the creek and beach meeting were big joys for us. It felt good to stay in a place that was built so intentionally, soulfully.

A Magical Escape in Pelada! This casita was a true gem! From the moment we woke up to the sounds of the jungle, we knew we were in for a special stay. It felt like a peaceful retreat, far away from the hustle and bustle, yet conveniently close to stores and great restaurants. The beach path leading to Pelada Beach was absolutely magical — easy access and such a beautiful walk! The casita itself was beautifully built, with a cozy yet spacious feel. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook meals, making it feel like a home away from home. We couldn’t have asked for a better spot to relax and recharge. Highly recommend this tranquil, nature-filled retreat!

Great stay
Casa Lapa is truly a gem and Steve is an amazing host! The beautiful construction is amazing and the pictures do not do it justice. We loved the proximity to the beach and being close enough to walk the beach to Olga's (craft beer festival while we were visiting!)but far enough away that the bustling "night life" wasn't distracting. The location is peaceful if you don't mind being woken up by howler monkeys and macaws...which is part of the Costa Rica experience! Being end of the road is fantastic because dust really is an issue during the dry season. Steve was an amazing host and provided great directions that allowed us to find our way even in the dark. I will definitely plan to stay here again during future Nosara visits.
