After a month in Costa Rica, this was the place where we had the best time. It's just the right distance from the crowds. The hotel is in a beautiful location where you have a view of the sea and the pool from your own sitting area. The children can have a great time while you read a book, and when you're done with that, you walk over to what feels like your own private beach. All amenities and the room are in perfect condition. The hostess Valerie was there every day during the day, and constantly made sure you had everything you needed. The contact felt personal and very friendly. Thank you, Valerie, for the great days. We already miss Samara.

Kim and all the staff were really very welcoming. The hotel was intimate. The outdoor space is beautiful. The beach chairs are very comfortable. The outdoor dining area with the BBQ is great. The only downside is that the bar next door was noisy. The location is a 15-minute walk from the center of Samara. The pool didn't work 2 out of 3 days. And it's difficult to sleep on the bed in the living room/kitchen since the space is not air-conditioned and the windows are mosquito nets, so you can hear the music from the bar and the sound of the waves. Thank you so much for everything!

Family friendly, small, quaint, dated, felt communal, no a/c in living space but still an enjoyable place to call home.

We really enjoyed spending a few nights at Samara Beach to celebrate New Year's on our recent trip to Costa Rica. The Fenix is a cozy hotel with 6 rooms set in a curve around a small pool and a stone's throw from water's edge. It was the perfect "tiny house" set up for our family and the beachfront had lovely hammocks and beach chairs to sit in and enjoy the views. Due to the holidays, the rooms were all full with families and a bit crowded when everyone was dining outside but all the guest were friendly and chatty. If you enjoy meeting other travelers and making friends, Fenix is a perfect property for you! The property was very safe and they provide nighttime security and a safe for your valuables. Easy to find and several good restaurants were just a few minutes walk down the beach. The property has been updated between our booking and our arrival and the owners are still making improvements. A perfect beachfront getaway in Costa Rica!
