This amazing place is far from everything! We had booked two nights, but it was only one because we had to turn around when we tried to drive there the first time. It started to rain heavily and we had taken the wrong road, which meant we didn't get there before it got dark! Start early and 4WD is a must! The road to the property is really challenging. We tried to follow the directions but at first did not understand that it is a MUST to start in San Isidro. It's not possible to drive via Uvita as we tried. The place is divine, but best suited for adults who want a quiet place to recover. There were some walking trails, but they were relatively short, and some of them would need to be inspected and cleared a bit. We did not do any other activities on the farm as we had already stayed at another farm house. However, we tried the evening meal prepared by the Salvadoran couple. If you don't, you have to bring food because there's nothing to buy there! Do you have picky kids like us? Just order for the adults and cook for the kids yourselves!

The directions are as described in the advertisement. Google Maps leads you directly to the accommodation. Four-wheel drive is definitely necessary, and you should not drive even in heavy rain. The place was clean, very large and spacious. The three of us had Finca Anjala to ourselves. It is in an absolutely quiet location and perfect for unwinding, relaxing and simply exploring the area. We also had an additional fly screen for the bed. We would also strongly recommend that. Another plus for us was that the soaps provided were sustainable and scented with essential oils. We definitely recommend booking breakfast and dinner as well. Because the food is a spectacle in itself. Super delicious and definitely enough for everyone. It was the little things that made the stay wonderful, such as the farmer simply picking us up in the morning to feed the chickens. That made our little one very happy. Thank you 🤗

Host Response

Thank you very much for such a thoughtful review. I’m so glad Finca Anjala gave you the quiet, spacious, and restorative experience you were looking for, and that the small details, from the meals and sustainable soaps to the morning moment with the farmer, made the stay feel so personal and memorable. The access is certainly part of being in this peaceful setting, so arriving with the right vehicle and avoiding heavy rain conditions is important, and I truly appreciate you sharing that practical guidance for future guests. It was a pleasure to host you, and I would be very happy to welcome you back anytime.

Let's start with the good part: it's a beautiful location and very clean. This is a very unique property in a secluded location. However, the road is extremely hard to access; it's an unpaved road with a steep slope on the side of a cliff. You need to be very skilled with off-road driving and have an appropriate vehicle. We got stuck trying to get there and had to tip one of the locals to drive us up the mountain. Host was not present, chat support provides useless AI answers (e.g., "Are you stuck with your car? So sorry... call your insurance."). The local staff are nice and kind, but they don't know a word of English. You are quite dependent on them, so you had better speak Spanish. It's really out in the wild—if you get sick or injured, you're on your own. My family and I were attacked by a massive bee swarm and leaf-cutter ants on the property. We had to leave early to seek medical attention. The host ignored us throughout this ordeal, but luckily, Airbnb refunded us.

Great stay at the Finca. Cabin was comfortable. Our son loved tending to the animals. Trails were the right amount of challenging. Unfortunate that the kids zipline was broken, but otherwise all was as advertised.

Host Response

Thank you for staying with us at the finca. I am very glad to know the cabin felt comfortable for your family and that your son especially enjoyed spending time with the animals, which is always such a special part of the experience here. I also appreciate your mention of the kids’ zipline and regret that it was unavailable during your visit, although I am pleased the rest of the stay matched your expectations and that you enjoyed the trails as well. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back again in the future, and I wish you and your family safe travels and many wonderful adventures ahead.

We have stayed at several Airbnbs and none compare to this one. The location is secluded and beautiful. The farm is a beautiful piece of property. René and Digna were great hosts. René went out of his way to show the kids where a sloth was in a tree, feed the chickens, play with the dog Scott, and lead us to the cheese making activity. Digna's food was always timely, authentic, and wonderful. We were never short on enough for our family of 6. My kids loved petting the cats and dog. Digna showed us how to make tortillas and René helped us make sugar cane juice. We got to milk the goat and drink the milk. René was so patient with us as we tried to understand what he was saying and repeating it to use a translator app if necessary. He is such a happy guy. The beds are super comfortable. Each morning we woke up to the sounds of so many birds. We also took two hikes while we were there. The trails are very well marked. The waterfall was a beautiful view. We would definitely stay again.

Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt review. I’m truly glad your stay felt so special and that the farm, the seclusion, and the natural setting made it unlike any other Airbnb you’ve experienced. It means a lot to hear how René and Digna helped create those family memories, from spotting wildlife and caring for the animals to the hands on experiences like cheese making, tortillas, and sugar cane juice. I’m also happy the meals were plentiful and authentic, that the beds were comfortable, and that you enjoyed the trails and waterfall. Waking up to the birds each morning is one of those simple moments that stays with you. It was a pleasure hosting your family, and you’d be very welcome back anytime.

Private stay up in the mountains! Relaxing, tranquil and right in the jungle! Close to nature! Lots of jungle and farm noises. Rustic, open air, clean and comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed and it even had hot water for showers! Great for a rustic cabin type stay in nature! My daughter loved the animals! We loved the hike to the waterfall and swam in the water there. Hosts were helpful and kind.

Host Response

I’m really glad you enjoyed the peaceful mountain setting and the feeling of being right in the jungle. That mix of rustic, open air comfort with the sounds of nature and the farm is exactly what makes the experience special for guests who want a true getaway. It’s great to hear the cabin felt clean and comfortable, the kitchen had what you needed, and that the hot water was a nice bonus. I’m also happy your daughter loved the animals, and that you were able to do the waterfall hike and swim there, those are the kinds of memories that stick. Thank you for staying with us, and you’d be very welcome back anytime.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but when a place truly surpasses your expectations, you have to. If you enjoy a peaceful environment, nature, and quality time, this is the place for you. And if you have kids, they will make priceless memories here. I admire the owner, Irene, so much. Seeing her vision, her hard work to build this farm, and her deep love and respect for nature is truly inspiring. Very few places allow nature to lead and build around it in such a thoughtful way, creating an unforgettable experience. The food was wonderful, and her employees are so respectful, kind, and always happy to help and show you around. Irene, thank you so much for this amazing experience.

Host Response

Thank you for taking the time to share something so meaningful. Reading words like these truly makes all the effort behind this place worthwhile. The vision has always been to create a space where nature leads and where families can slow down, reconnect, and create lasting memories, so it’s incredibly special to know that came through in your experience. I’m also grateful you enjoyed the food and felt well cared for by the team; they put their heart into what they do every day. It was a real pleasure having you here, and you’ll always be welcome back to continue building more memories in this little corner of nature.

Rene and his wife made the trip for us. They spoiled us and our children with the right amount of attention and help. Bonus for us that we didn't realize until the last day was that we were the only ones... There are two rentals here and the public areas are divided by only a beautiful display of huge tropical plants so not super private and if the others were noisy and rowdy you'd be in the party without being part of the party. I honestly expected to find more things trying to eat us there, but the end of dry season was relatively bug-free. The whole place was incredibly safe and secure and I didn't worry at all about our kids wandering around the place. We were there beginning of February during the dry season. The waterfalls are beautiful and water was calm and safe. It wouldn't be the same if it rained and I would be more cautious especially with kids. It's a steep climb up and down and small kids will demand to be carried up the mountain.

Host Response

Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful and honest reflection of your stay. I’m really glad the experience felt special for you and your family, and that the atmosphere, safety, and setting allowed you to relax and enjoy time together without worry. It’s great to know the timing during the dry season worked in your favor, especially around the waterfalls and overall comfort. I also appreciate you mentioning the layout and the natural terrain; it’s helpful context for future guests, particularly families with young children, to arrive with the right expectations and mindset. It was a pleasure hosting you, and I’m happy to hear the place left such a positive impression on all of you.

To rest, enjoy and share with family, Finca Anjala is an ideal place. This nature reserve offers visitors lush and varied vegetation, a pleasant climate, an atmosphere of peace, serenity, oxygenation and entertainment. Contemplation or immersion in the refreshing waterfall, together with the comfort of the house, increase the resources that make the stay a refreshing and unforgettable experience. ‎ Definitely recommended.

We had an absolutely magical stay at this farm in Costa Rica. The place is a real slice of heaven, surrounded by lush, calm and rejuvenating nature. The setting is authentic, exotic and perfectly maintained, ideal for reconnecting to the essentials. The hosts are welcoming, caring and passionate, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. We leave with unforgettable memories and a single desire: to return. A place we recommend without so much as a second thought! PS: You need a good 4-wheel drive vehicle to access it

This place is hard to describe in words. An oasis of calm, relaxation in harmony with nature. Experiencing this was indescribable. Our children (4,8,9) loved this place and the animals there so much and cried when we had to leave.

Host Response

Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt reflection about your stay. Moments like these are exactly why we do what we do. We truly appreciate your trust in choosing our home, wish you a smooth and happy journey back home, and would be honored to welcome your family again in the future.

What a magical place! We had an amazing stay with our 6 & 4 yr old daughters. They loved all the activities including coffee picking, feeding chickens, kids zip line, waterfall hike, etc - we only wished we could have done tortilla making and gone to the lechera too! And the food we ordered from Digna was incredible! She’s an amazing cook. Yes, it is a little tricky to get to (need 4x4) and we got our share of bug bites, but it was the perfect place to disconnect in nature as a family. Irene has created a beautiful environment - you’ll love it!

We’re truly happy to know that your stay felt magical and that your daughters enjoyed so many of the activities, from coffee picking and feeding chickens to the zip line and waterfall hike. Good cabin, which suited our family of five well. Really a cozy place with animals and hiking trails. We ordered lunch and dinner on the spot and you just have to say that the food was amazing. Can only recommend this place.

Host Response

Thank you for sharing such a wonderful review. It’s great to hear that the cabin suited your family of five so well and that you enjoyed the cozy atmosphere, the presence of animals, and the walking trails around the property. We’re especially glad to know that both lunch and dinner were a highlight and that the food made such a strong impression. Your recommendation means a lot, and we’d be delighted to welcome you back whenever you return.

Ie had a wonderful 2 night stay. It is very remote and 4x4 is definitely recommended. There is a second accomodation beside. The living rooms are open air and face each other, but nobody was staying there so was very private. The caretaker lives on-site and was friendly. We stayed on property the 2 days and hiked the well laid out trails through the jungle to the waterfall (we are knowledgable adventure tour operators and advise caution in the jungle and near the river, especially at the waterfall). We also took a walk through the coffee field. It was all very beautiful. Just a note, it's a bit out of town so arriving prepared with tue food and water that you need for your stay is helpful. There is a sink that you can hand wash in and a clothes line, though it was too damp for our clothes to dry in the 2 days that we were there. Also no running hot water for showers, but it was very fresh and had lovely shampoo provided made from plants on the property. I'd love to visit again!

Host Response

Thank you for sharing such a detailed and insightful review. It’s wonderful to hear that your two-night stay was memorable and that the remoteness, the trails, the waterfall, and the surrounding nature created such a special experience. Your perspective as knowledgeable adventure operators adds meaningful context, and we appreciate you highlighting the importance of caution in the jungle and near the river. We’re glad the open-air living spaces still offered a sense of privacy during your visit and that the caretaker’s presence contributed positively. Your notes about preparing with food and water, the hand-washing setup, the damp climate, and the absence of hot running water are all helpful observations, and they reflect the rustic, off-grid nature of the property. It’s great to know that the plant-based shampoo and the overall atmosphere added to the experience. We truly appreciate your thoughtful feedback and would be thrilled to welcome you back whenever you’re ready to return.
