This place exceeded our already high expectations. It is stunningly beautiful, private, spacious and safe. There are many different areas where one can relax and gather together. The staff is fantastic, and we so appreciate the work and kindness of Irma and Gustavo! The location is also great. The casa is only a few blocks walk from la Parroquia as well as many restaurants and shops. We rarely needed a taxi to get around. Patricia was very responsive to our questions, and we appreciate her working with our needs. Staying here was like a dream and couldn't have been more worth it! We would not hesitate to stay again.

Nestled in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, this historic home is steps from everything. Yet the moment you step inside, the city melts away. It is a private, sprawling oasis: sun-drenched courtyards, a sparkling pool, a bar, dining areas, a library, and a secret garden that feels like something out of a novel. It’s even more breathtaking in person than the photos suggest. I stayed here with my bridal party for my wedding weekend and it was everything I dreamed of. Every room is beautifully appointed and air-conditioned, the home-cooked breakfasts were a daily highlight, and the house staff is warm, attentive, and truly exceptional. We also hosted our welcome party here and our guests were enchanted. It was the perfect introduction to the soul of Mexico. I toured many homes before choosing this one, but the decision was made the moment I walked through the door. Patricia, thank you for sharing your extraordinary home with us. Past reviewers have thoroughly and accurately described the house. Really it is more a compound well suited to a big group. It was fantastic to have the staff there to support us. Do not miss out on Irma’s cooking. We look forward to staying again.

This property was absolutely stunning in every way - incredibly gorgeous, well kept space that can fit a very large group in a central location. The host was great to work with, responsive, and flexible to our needs. The groundskeeper was very friendly and helpful. I can't say enough good things about the property. The only drawback is that, since the property is so large, wifi can occasionally be spotty in some rooms but the positives vastly outweigh this minor inconvenience. Do not hesitate to book - you won't regret it. Looking forward to staying here again in the future!

The home is spectacular and offers lots of wonderful places to converse, hang out, work and celebrate. The staff made 6 different delicious meals for us — all but 1 as breakfasts. All were very good — the fruit in the morning was incredible , too. When we had a minor issue, it was addressed immediately and with kindness. Extraordinary place in this wondrous location!

very nice stay... like a little 7 room hotel, all rooms separate connected by a large patio area. the staff was very helpful, although it was $130 (not the $100 stated in the listing) per day. the food they cooked was amazing, and they were super friendly... overall a pricey stay but definitely worth it! the pool water could have been a little cleaner but this did not impact our stay!

The house was absolutely beautiful in the best location in town. The staff was amazing, so accommodating and made incredible meals. The house was so clean and big. It was a perfect location for a big group. Everyone had their own space. We had a wonderful trip!

We had a wonderful time at the “Refugio de los Pecadores”. As many people have reviewed, the photos don’t do the house justice. It is big, beautiful, nicely decorated and with many common areas where people can hang out. The location is incredible within walking distance of the main plaza. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Irma’s cooking was delicious and Gustavo’s service was on point. They have everything super well organized and made sure the house ran smoothly, making our stay very comfortable. The hosts are super responsive and both Patricia and Alberto clarified all our questions in a clear and timely manner. I must mention that we stayed with our family at the refugio during our wedding weekend. We got ready there for our wedding day, with the hosts permission, and the staff was very flexible and helpful to make what could have been a very stressful day, a very enjoyable and memorable day!

Irma, Gustavo, Estella and Andres were excellent! Always made us feel welcomed and were extremely attentive. Service was great. The location was very convenient. Enough parking for 6 cars or more. Place was clean. Would highly recommend!

Couldn’t have found a more centrally located bnb with both a pool and gated parking. The staff were fantastic and were very meticulous about saving grocery receipts. They were great about accommodating food sensitivities and meal schedules. Thoroughly enjoyed our time in San Miguel.

We had a wonderful stay at Patricia's place! The staff was so helpful and attentive with all of our requests....and the food was amazing! We had them surprise us for each meal and we were never disappointed. We really enjoyed 'snack time' after a day of sightseeing! The layout of the house is great for large families or groups! With plenty of room to come together or spread out and find a personal quiet nook to read and relax in. It really is in a great location too! We were able to walk just about everywhere from the house!

Great location, great house, great staff.

I recently stayed at the house with 10 girlfriends to celebrate my birthday. The accommodations were excellent. The rooms were good sized, beds were comfortable and the heaters worked well in January (mornings/evenings are cool). The rooms were cleaned/straightened daily. Each morning we enjoyed breakfast prepared by Erma, who is delightful. On the last night, Erma presented us with a fantastic dinner complete with a birthday cake. We loved being within walking distance from nearly everything. I used the email feature to communicate with the host, but really appreciated a phone call as the trip neared to clarify some details. Gustavo, Ermas son, was so helpful with calling a taxi (when needed) and carrying luggage to/from rooms. Erma also coordinated massages at the house. One of my guests did speak fluent Spanish, which did GREATLY facilitate some of our requests. The trip was extra special and I look forward to returning to SMDA and staying again in this lovely home.

Patricia’s house was absolutely beautiful. We chose to hire the staff and they were so kind, attentive, and helpful in everything we needed for our stay. They helped us call taxis, Irma’s food was a highlight of our stay, they kept water in our room filled up, and they brought out snacks whenever we asked for them. We had an inter-generational group of 12 and all of us we exceedingly comfortable. Our trip will be a treasured memory that we carry with us forever.

This was by far the most special, beautiful and unique place I've ever stayed. For our large, multigenerational family, we had Thanksgiving at the hacienda that none of us will ever forget. Patricia coordinated an amazing level of details that made our stay incredibly comfortable and special. The on-site staff were very friendly, professional. The property itself is full of surprises; on-site massage spa, a 3 story library, a bar, a variety of living/hang/dining spaces and all bedrooms were spacious and truly beautiful. We are grateful for the opportunity to stay at the hacienda and grateful to Patricia for being an accommodating and truly caring host.

The house is beautiful, large and full of nice touches. We had an amazing few days and were very well taken care of by the staff. Delicious food and snacks, always ready to please us and find what we needed. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, at night they made the beds and even hung our clothes. We enjoyed the house bar in the evenings after arriving from the rooftops. It's great for groups of friends and family. Make sure you leave enough time to enjoy the house.

This place is amazing! We had 9 adults and an 1.5 yr old. Patricia and Alberto helped us plan everything for our family leading up to the trip. The staff onsite, Irma and Gustavo, were so wonderful and really took care of us. The house itself is gorgeous and very well maintained. It is perfectly located in the city and easy to walk to everything. We loved staying here and can’t wait to come back!

The pictures do not do justice. This home exceeded all expectations and was outstanding. Location is perfect and ideal for walking around the central city. House staff was also fantastic and accommodating. Will most certainly stay here again if in San Miguel.

Every other review pretty much says it all. The photos absolutely do not and cannot do the Refugio justice. I tried to make a video-tour of it, but the video got way too long. A week was not enough time to start taking the spaces for granted. AND the service was something I had just never experienced in an AirBnB. Irma, Gustavo, and Estela were amazing. They were always ready to help with anything we needed--super warm, and kind. Irma's cooking was fabulous. We were given a menu, but we told her to just make us whatever Mexican dishes she wanted to. Great idea. Two members of our family of ten had some dietary restrictions, and she made sure they always had great options. We never met our host Patricia in person--the household staff took care of check-in--but we have talked and messaged with her a lot. She was always really easy to get in touch with. We want to go back.

This is one of the best airbnbs I’ve ever stayed in. The pictures don’t do this gorgeous house justice. The staff is beyond amazing and make you feel at home. The house is clean, the food is amazing, and the view is incredible. We can’t wait to come again!!!

This house was incredible! Like multiple people have said the pictures do not do it justice! The staff was amazing and so kind. It was a great opportunity to practice my Spanish. We loved our stay in San Miguel and can’t wait to come back.

Absolutely wonderful property, location, hostess, and staff! Like others have said, the photos don’t do the property justice. Beautiful gathering spaces, perfect for a group. We had breakfast each day and it was wonderful. Irma and Gustavo were so helpful and kind. We’ll look forward to returning!

Where do I begin? This house is even more magical in real life than we were able to glean from the photos. The villa is massive. We stayed here with 12 people and never felt on top of each other. There are so many seating areas, a wonderful bar, a pool and a staff that makes you feel like you are a part of their family. The villa is a 5 minute walk from the main square but when you are in the villa, you feel like you are the only people in San Miguel. I cannot recommend this house, the hosts and the staff highly enough. If I am ever fortunate to be in San Miguel with a large group, this is the only place I want to stay.

This place is absolutely incredible. As other guests have stated, the pictures simply don’t do it justice. It’s so big it feels like a hotel. The location is only a couple blocks from town square. My group was in town for a wedding and we felt very spoiled with the help of Irma Gustavo & Coco (house staff). Paty & Alberto were very responsive through the AirBnb app and even arranged breakfast to be waiting for us the first morning we arrived. We enjoyed every minute of this beautiful home while in San Miguel! We can’t wait to go back.

This house is very special, it is huge and there are so many area where you can seat and enjoy, The staff is so nice and helpful and Irma ‘s food is absolutely delicious . We were big group / family and all of us really enjoyed our stay

The house is a dream. The pictures do not do it justice. It's hard to put into picture the layout which spans an entire block. Each corner of the house has a cute sitting area for 10-12 people/dinner or just hanging out. Decoratively, has fountains, beautiful bouganvilias, birds throughout the courtyards of the house. For the women in the group-each bathroom has it's own blow dryer,; has a magnifying mirror for putting on make up. A shower - very hot or cold water (depending on what you like). Each room is very private so eventhough you are a big group, you can seclude yourself in one of the corners of the house or your bedroom. There are various places to eat a meal - inside or out, very big dinning table. If location is what you want, just a couple of blocks from main Cathedral and at the center of shopping (girls). Each room is different so it accomodates many styles and number of people in case you bring your kids. The caretakers were 3 and very very very extremely accomodating. Soo soo nice. Cooking - very sad we only got to eat the breakfast but each day, we ate a different mexican style breakfast in addition to fruits, toast, coffee, juice, jam and eggs/omelets. We went for a wedding so our schedule was jam packed - my only sadness is to not have gotten to eat the delicious lunches and dinners they also prepare. For the partiers in the group - a BAR!!! inside the house. For the religious - a chapel - beautiful-maybe someone wants to have a formal catholic celebration? A pool that is perfect to hangout in as it is surrounded by sitting areas! AND for the spa lovers, in the upstairs area above the pool we had our hair and makeup done - room for a masseus as there is a table for having a massage. Patricia (the owner) was extremely helpful before arriving and explaining the house to us. Definitely best house i have ever seen! Oh and lastly, rooms were made maybe 3x a day. They just catered to us and pampered us at all times. (sorry for mispelled words)

The house is special. The location is perfect. The staff was helpful. and it seemed liked everyday we found a new room to explore. If you are headed to San Miguel, stay here!

Everything was excellent!! We were given all the flexibility we needed and we were taken care of wonderfully. We were very happy and will be back soon

The place is exactly as described. The pictures do not do the house justice. The property is the length of a city block! The little details like the showers are hot and towels smell amazing was noticed. Irma and Gustavo run the place so well. We loved the daily made service. Our group of 13 could not stop enjoying the house and the food made my Irma and her assistants. The dining room fit all of us plus the 11 piece mariachi band we had one night. Did I mention the secret rooms? The two story library had a third floor!!! The sitting room at north end of the property was my favorite. We booked massages one day. Why? Because there was a spa room with table! The listing said six bedrooms. We found and used a seventh. The best "premier room" is a lot of steps so be warned if you take that one. Many thanks to Patrica for letting us use washer and dryer. Got a big group? This place was a great find for us. You will love it.

The house is very conveniently located in downtown San Miguel. The house actually looks much better than the photos. Although the house is very nice, what made it a spectacular experience was all the staff who served us. They did everything possible to make our vacation unforgettable. The food was delicious and they even cooked special dishes for our 2 infants. One of the best AirBnBs we've stayed in.

The house is a unique old construction. You will not be disappointed since the first time you laid eyes on it. We visit San Miguel de Allende at least once a year and we rent a different luxury house every single time but this house is one of the best we’ve ever seen. The location cannot be better, but the most remarkable item is the terrific personal that serve the house. If you like Mexican food, Mrs. Irma will blow your mind with a superior cooking. The owner is very attentive and will make you feel like her personal guests

The pictures do not do this place justice, it is very nice and in perfect condition. The location could not be better, it is central and everything is a few steps away; in any way by car it is easy to get to other tourist places. If you are planning to travel as a family, disconnect and forget about work, this is the ideal place to stay.

Most incredible Airbnb I have ever stayed in. The place had a chef, cleaning staff and house attendant to help with anything we needed. The place is way nicer than the photos.
