The house is fantastic and everything as as great as it advertised! Herman was very helpful with reccomendations and always responsive when I reached out to him. Do yourself a favor and have Herman get you lined up with Julia, she'll come to the house with all the ingredients to make you breakfast, lunch, or dinner and its fabulous!

The house is quite unique and cool from an architectural standpoint, yet was still comfortable and home-like. We loved watching sunsets from the roof and hanging on the beach in the shade of the property’s palm trees. Having Doña Julia come to tidy up every few days was also very nice.

Herman’s house on the beach in Chuburna is beautifully designed and thoroughly comfortable. I chose it based on reviews, its unique appearance, privacy and location away from touristy areas. Progreso, however, is 20 minutes away and offers a supermarket, restaurants etc. Having a car is highly recommended for those who want to visit points of interest in the Yucatán, such as the Mayan archeological site at Uxmal, the flamingoes in the Celestun biosphere. and various cenotes - all experiences well worth the drive. The Mayan museum in Mérida is also wonderful to visit. Herman’s onsite list was very good guidance for what not to miss. Thoroughly recommend this house. Linda

Herman's place was fantastic. The house is spacious, modern, very private with private beach section, great roof terrace, it was clean, everything available (equipment in the kitchen, sufficient towels, washing machine etc.) and every 2 days a cleaning lady came. We were warmly welcomed, received many good tips about the surroundings and Herman was very helpful and accessible. Also, when the power went out due to a storm, someone immediately tried to fix the issue. For the location of the house, because it is rather secluded, it is highly recommended to have a rental car on site. Highly recommended for a peaceful and relaxing stay. Thanks, Herman.

A great place for a family of 4 to relax by the beach and explore. The house is well planned and you have everything you need.

The house is amazing. The beach is private, gorgeous turquoise water and beautiful birds. Every window except one has a view of the ocean. Kitchen well equipped - we found nothing wanting. The weather was hot the week we were there and we were worried about no AC and it was not an issue. There are tons of ceiling fans and an amazing cross breeze. The roof provided the perfect spot for star hazing. We would return every year if we could.

Excellent host and beautiful home, pictures do not do it justice. Plenty of local restaurants and easy drive to Mérida, Cenotes and ruins.

Very unique deserted location. Beautifully designed house located right at the beach. 3min driving distance to local attractions and bird watching. And yes, we law plenty of flamingos. The host Herman is really great and took his time personally to greet us the day we arrived and helped us with anything we needed. We'd definitely come back. Very enjoyable vacation!

Hello Hermann We would like to thank you again in this way. We had a great unforgettable time at your great house right on the sea. We especially loved that you already let us into the house at 10 a.m., as our flight in Mérida arrived very early. The fact that the cleaning ladies come 3 times per week is a special luxury that we would definitely like to mention positively here. We also can't praise your helpfulness and great recommendations as well as the private tour on the Hacienta and the best food here at all. We will definitely miss the sundowner on the great roof terrace. The house is ideal for vacationers who want to be far from the hustle and bustle and get to know the original Yucatan and its inhabitants. Away from mass tourism. We were there in November. It was very pleasant from the temperatures, but at noon it was always a little stronger. But it was no problem for us

This is an incredibly beautiful home, so thoughtfully designed and artistically decorated. We enjoyed relaxing on the back patio and swimming in the ocean which we had pretty much to ourselves every single day. The huge kitchen was a treat to cook in and an even lovely space to enjoy a nice meal. Every night we enjoyed playing board games and listening to the waves outside. This was a much needed vacation from the cold and Herman’s place far exceeded our expectations. We had a great time fishing with Julia’s husband and then afterwards Julia cooked up our catch of rubios and cha chi and it was hands down the best meal we had the entire trip. I can’t say enough nice things about this house, comfortable beds everything you need to feel fully relaxed. Thank you so much Herman your hospitality is top notch.

The house is really somethings special and we spend 10 beautiful days there. We especially loved to enjoy the stunning sunsets on the rooftop terrace, the fantastic dinners that Julia prepared for us and the extremely privacy also on the beach - we rarely met others there, what was exactly the right for us. A big thank you to Herman who was very helpful also in the organization in advance.

If you're hesitating to rent this house, don't hesitate any longer. The house is perfect and includes everything you need and more. The view is sublime and the beach is very pleasant. The villages of Chuburna and Chelem are magical and Merida is very easy to access. Also, Thomas is very friendly and easy to reach. Finally, a word about Ms. Julia who came to cook for us a few times. It is efficient, fast, discreet and the food was very good. Feel free to call on his services through Thomas. In summary, check-in was very easy, but check-out was less pleasant! Thanks Thomas for sharing your beautiful home!

Do not pass this house over. This house is gorgeous and great for a family stay. The pool is cool and refreshing. Beds were cozy. Happy they provided fans in each room to keep us cool at night. Loved that we could walk straight off the back patio/pool area right into the ocean. Really beautiful! I would HIGHLY recommend contacting Chef Luisa through the host- she cooked us dinner two nights. Some of the best food we’ve had in a while!

We had a wonderful stay with the family in a sumptuous villa away from the crowds and tourists. A break in time to recharge your batteries and live a magical moment. The villa is even more beautiful than in the pictures, Thomas Herman's son welcomed us perfectly and was super responsive each time when we asked him something. This house benefits from being known. The place is modern and beautiful. It’s my favorite beach in the whole Peninsula. The ocean is clear. Quiet and peaceful. You have everything close. It’s the best place to Enjoy some Time Off and Thomas is a great Host

Thomas is an amazing host and his home is so beautiful! The pictures don’t do it justice! I was traveling with my adult som and his girlfriend and my 2 teenagers. We had plenty of room and were very comfortable. The location is so perfect-it’s beautiful, the sand is soft and the water is warm and can be calm in the morning with some calm wind and waves in the afternoon and evening. There are no tourists around here, but if you want to shop and dine, the town of progreso is very close and easy to get to. I feel like finding this location was very lucky because it was just us and the locals who are very friendly and kind. We felt safe the entire time. We had Clari(who lives in the close by village) shop and cook for us several times the week we were here and she is a fantastic cook. Thomas was available for all of our questions and helped us find some places we were interested in visiting. We arrived very late and he was there to welcome us and make us feel at home. We had to leave at 4am on the last day and he was there to see us off with no complaint about the time. He is so friendly and helpful and has a beautiful home that I am so glad we found! I loved everything about staying here and it was hard to leave. I cannot wait to come back!!

Great house! we rented the house for a week with my family( 6 adults) and we had a wonderful time! The house is beautiful and big with well equiped kitchen and a wonderful patio with a nice pool, covered in case of rain. Nice little private beach too. There is no AC but there is fans in each rooms and a good breeze in the afternoon and even if it was very hot we were ok. We didn't to go on day trips but just wanted to enjoy the house. Big supermarkets 20 min away in Progreso and small ones 10 min away in Chelem. It really was a nice vacation and would love to go back. The house is right on the beach and quiet area. Nice room views of the sea. Also a nice rooftop to see beautiful sunsets. We recommand 100%

A stunning house in the most perfect location! The place is well laid out and well equipped in a quiet/private location but still very close to many things. We had the best week staying there and the hosts were easy and quick to communicate with us! Highly recommend to anyone and would go back to stay there in a heartbeat!

We absolutely loved this beach house! The location is private and tranquil. The house is beautiful and we’ll-equipped for all you need to enjoy time at the beach, from the kitchen to the kayaks to the hammocks. We were very comfortable and relaxed. You could stay here the entire time just enjoying the warm and calm ocean. (As one would expect; there were insects; we found it better to sleep with the doors closed. Not an issue during the day.) You can also enjoy nearby attractions (as we did) with Mayan ruins (Uxmal, stay a few days at Uxmal Lodge!) and many others (some currently closed due to COVID), visit the Celestun Biosphere Reserve (follow canoe/kayak signs to find Jose’s great tours of amazing mangroves), and enjoy nearby towns of Progreso and Merida for fantastic food. It’s a bird watchers paradise in Chuburna with lagoons and mangroves everywhere. Yes, definitely flamingos. Also so many other great shore birds and birds you’ll find in a jungle. We wrote extensively about the birds in the review for Celestun Guardians on Google or about Uxmal Lodge on hotels.com. We also enjoyed the restaurants in Chuburna and nearby Chelem. Can’t wait to return!

The only bad thing about this place is having to leave it. So serene, beautiful, and awesome! My wife and I loved the Beach House so much. Even better than the pictures. The hosts are A+ as well. Friendly welcome tour with a bottle of vino, arranged regular cleanings, and offered lots of help + alternatives when Telcel was having internet issues in the area one day. So happy we found and stayed at this amazing house!

We really don't want to leave, we postponed our stay 3 times from how well we had in this house. We are going to miss Don Felipe , everyone who made our stay of almost a month more comfortable. Paradise on a beautiful beach.

A home as gorgeous as the beach view! During my week long stay the design and details of the home never ceased to amaze me. The house was well stocked with cooking essentials, beach towels, games, hammocks, and everything in between. The pool was gorgeous and clean. We didn’t have the best weather during our stay, but the house was a great jumping off point to ruins, cenotes, and other day trips. There is plenty to do within driving distance, and we would definitely recommend renting a car. I have nothing but positive compliments regarding the overall hospitality and communication with the host and owner. Thomas the host went above and beyond by waiting at the house and stocking the kitchen with food and drink when our flight and arrival was delayed. Thomas was quick to respond to anything and checked in with us throughout the week. We would certainly return to this property in the future! It’s a house I will never forget!

We had an amazing week in this outstanding house. I wanted to pack it up and put it in my suitcase! Loved this house! If you appreciate modern architecture and are looking for somewhere truly special, this place is it. It is in a very quiet, non touristy location, which we liked. If you want fancy restaurants and tourist amenities, this is probably not for you. We enjoyed chilling at the house and beach, only leaving to get food supplies. Guido was the best host. Communication with him was easy and quick and he met us at the house on arrival. Just perfect! We would definitely book again.

Wow!!!! The best beach house house in Yucatan! This is unbelievable and unique, designer house of monumental stature! Designed by well known Mexican architect Enrique Cabrera. I have stayed in a few houses but not like this! Here you will feel like a celebrity, a millionaire or perhaps even a billionaire! This house is sparkling clean and has everything you will ever need, just bring your toothbrush. Very private with an electric gate, right on the beach- literally just few feet to the gentle and warm waters of Yucatan coast. We were here in February and water temperature was 27C!!! The beauty of this house is only matched my friendly and very thoughtful host Guido. He was available for any questions and any assistance around the clock! Knowing about my passion for fishing, Guido has arranged my private fishing trip with Don Filipe, who is also the house caretaker- my wife and myself will remember this authentic experience for a long time! I have online business and have recorded many professional quality videos inside as well outside of this gorgeous house, all people that have seen these videos were simply stunned with what they've seen and I've been asked many times about this house and how to rent it. The house is absolutely outstanding – cool architectural solutions, stunning design, very comfortable and well equipped. Located almost in the paradise on the empty beach surrounded by supernal silence and peace. Though in a very reasonable distance to the gas stations, supermarkets etc. 1- 1,5 hours drive to all the most important sightseeings on Yukatan peninsula. We are completely in love with this place and are already planning our next trip. This Chuburna house became something very personal and happy to us, so it’s a little bit hard to share this secret place with others)). But of course, extremely recommended for everyone, who cares about beauty, privacy and solitude.
