4BR Villa in San Miguel de Allende

Excellent, 3 weeks ago

My stay at the accommodation was very pleasant. My family and I all enjoyed the tranquility, the location and the interior spaces. The rooms were comfortable and had everything you need. The spaces were large and clean. I liked the terrace enough to stay longer and enjoy the house. I would suggest that you take into account that the garage is small and the vehicle we brought could not enter, but we still parked outside the garage without any problems. I can say that the hosts' attention is 100%.

We came back. That says everything. I left a lengthy review last year so I will simply reiterate a couple of things - starting with Rosie: she is truly a super host. This was our third time at one of Rosie's properties and second time here. She is quick to respond, kind, supportive, gracious, informative. Rosie, Martha and Juanito make your stay so easy. And it is such an easy home to be in. Spacious, full of light, comfortable in all ways. The rooftop is a treasure - not only for the view but also for the shade and the abundance of blooming plants. This home is a find and we plan to return.

We had a wonderful month in this three-bedroom home, which is nicely laid out with bathrooms ensuite for each bedroom. The terrace is spectacular. We spent many evenings enjoying sunsets over the city with a glass of wine. The kitchen is well-stocked and made cooking dinners for friends easy and convenient. The gurgle of the fountain in the main floor courtyard created a garden atmosphere with the sliding glass roof open or closed. Rosie was very responsive and made all arrangements work smoothly.

We had the most wonderful stay here! The home is absolutely beautiful — the courtyard is stunning and the view overlooking the cathedral is just breathtaking. The decor is charming and thoughtfully done, creating such a warm and inviting atmosphere. The location truly could not have been better. We were within easy walking distance of major attractions and so many fantastic restaurants, which made exploring effortless and fun for our girls trip. The house itself was perfect for the five of us, with plenty of rooms and space to spread out while still feeling cozy together. The enclosed garage and private parking were such a huge bonus and gave us great peace of mind. Communication was excellent from start to finish, and Martha was incredible — such a sweet person and a truly wonderful cook. She made our stay even more special. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting!

My family and I stayed at Rosie's place for a week in January, and it was such a great find! We had our 23-month-old toddler along with us, and the baby pack-n-play crib, high chair, and baby bath were a lifesaver! Rosie gave great, detailed instructions for both check-in and the hot water, so we knew what to expect and didn't have any issues. My husband was able to work remotely on Microsoft Teams a few of the days during our stay by sitting at the desk by the wifi router (the wifi doesn't reach the roof or first floor very well, but we didn't need it to). We did have one minor malfunction with our potable water dispenser during our stay, but Rosie was SUPER responsive and she sent someone out to fix it by the next day! Amazing! Beds were comfortable enough, with the king being firm and many others being memory foam. Kitchen was well stocked. Laundry machines did the job. But the view from the roof was our favorite!!! Would definitely stay again on our next trip to SMA! :)

This home was beautiful and just as described. We specially loved the courtyard, the fountain and the rooftop. The beds were comfortable, everything was clean and well taken care of. Rosie was friendly and responsive. The house is outside the city center so you need to walk or get an uber; we took a lot of Ubers and each one was about $4 to get near the jardín so not expensive. I would feel irresponsible to not mention that because the area is quiet, I would highly suggest not walking around at night in empty streets - please grab a cab or an uber.

This Airbnb was truly charming — filled with gorgeous local art, thoughtful design details, and that beautiful patio centro complete with a retractable roof and a lovely view. It was quiet (which can be hard to find!) and made for a peaceful stay. Getting around was incredibly easy: just hop in a Taxi Rápido using the number in the house book, and for about 80 pesos you can get anywhere in town in minutes. You can request meal preparation or laundry and there are regularly scheduled cleaning days. We travelled with our three children and appreciate a kitchen, laundry, and additional sleeping options. In SMA it can get quite cool in the evenings and night so pack a cozy layer. The house has heaters and all the extra linens you might require. One small note for fellow “my back isn’t what it used to be” travelers: the beds are exceptionally firm, which is typical for the area.

The house was huge and well appointed with a beautiful terrace and an amazing rooftop with great views. Our only issue with the house was a consistent hot water supply despite following instructions . Some days all three upstairs bathrooms didn’t have hot water nor did the kitchen. Other days we had hot water in some parts of the house. Rosie sent a handyman over and the hot water worked in most areas while he was there, then within an hour didn’t work again. The issue defied logic.

Host Response

I know new places can be tricky and hard to get used to. The showers all have a blue and red sticker. The red is hot and the blue is cold. Don’t feel bad John, other guests have also pointed the water in the wrong direction waiting for it to get hot, but they point it to the blue sticker, and it will never get hot like that. I am glad that our handy man was able to help you out.

Convenience location, big and nice house. But the check in instructions is a bit blur, difficult to find the place and the first time. Meanwhile there’s some problem with my shower hot water(couldn’t get hot)

Host Response

I know when we travel we sometimes forget to read the instructions and pull up directions before hand. We send out instructions before your arrival so that you can have a smooth check in and always welcome any questions you might have. As far as the hot water, we always send you instructions on that too. The boiler takes a few minutes to warm up so we ask for patience during those couple minutes so that it can get hot and then you can adjust with the cold water to your preference. Also cold and hot are clearly marked. We thank you for your stay and we hope to see you come back again,

Beautiful, spacious with high ceilings + multiple places to gather within larger space; as much fresh air as you might want, or not. Rooftop patio has options for both shade and sun. View is terrific. Garden is lush. Big kitchen, fully equipped. Fresh flowers on dining room table. Beds are on firm side even with foam toppers. Close to plenty of restaurants, park, cultural options (we heard chamber work at nearby church; Luna Media at nearby restaurant; literary presentation at nearby hotel etc) Listen to Rosie: bring your comfortable shoes for walking. Getting home is uphill but it's definitely doable (healthy 60-somethings.) Yes - barking dogs in the neighborhood. It's SMA. Host provides white noise machine or bring your own! Two aspects we love the most: ground floor layout reminiscent of hacienda - rooms wrap around 3 sides of a courtyard. With the sliding roof, you can bring the outside into the courtyard. And most of all - we love Rosie and her team. Exceptional and gracious.

Casa Marvillas is a beautiful two story home with three bedrooms and an amazing large roof top terrace with commanding views of the city. We spent two months enjoying it…. The comfy home with flowering plants and trees throughout. It is centrally located within walking distance to the City Center, parks, and restaurants. Period furnishings and art pieces decorate the interior and a central indoor water feature lulls you into relaxation…In a very safe neighborhood, the house is tended by Martha the housekeeper and Juanito the gardener. Rosie, our host rapidly responded to all our requests and concerns. Loved your home John and Nancy

Rosie’s place was beautiful and big it was perfect for my family of 8 and her home was not a far walk from stores and restaurants , her place was extremely clean and she provided everything we never worried about running out of something . The area felt safe and peaceful . The Rooftop patio was our favorite part to relax at . Will definitely stay at Rosie’s place again when I visit San Miguel de Allende .

Super beautiful house that is even wilder in real life. A stunning rooftop terrace with impressive views of the city. In the house there is stone floor which is part of the charm of the house but unfortunately our 2 year old son fell on the floor and hit the hole in the head, so you have to be on that if you live there with small children. San Miguel is difficult to get around on foot with children sitting in strollers but it's easy to order an Uber, for example.

Our group of seven came to San Miguel for my nephew‘s wedding and Rosie‘s house was a perfect gathering spot to get ready for the wedding and host some small family gatherings. All of the rooms have their own bathroom, which was very wonderful for getting ready for wedding and we absolutely loved doing yoga on the rooftop deck. The kitchen is extremely well stocked, which was great because we cooked breakfast and some dinners there. We can’t say enough about this lovely home and highly recommend it. It is beautifully decorated with great character and there are a lot of wonderful outside spaces together. Also, it’s walkable to everything in San Miguel. Highly recommended!

Host Response

Thank you for choosing us for this special moment Debby. It was so nice to host your group. Thank you for being wonderful guests.

Didn't have hot water first night. Surge knocked out power and water the second night. Plumber needed to unstop toilets. Locks were difficult and one set of keys did not work.

Host Response

Heather did not stay at my place. She was not able to make it after all and sent her friend Laura instead. The house always had hot water. The issue was a user issue as they did not point the faucets to the correct location even though it is clearly marked with colors "hot" and "cold". They did not follow the rules and loaded the toilets with paper so they clogged the toilets and we had to send someone to unclog them for them. They also left the house door unlocked because they also didn't know how to handle or use the keys. The power went out in the neighborhood on their day of departure, which was beyond our control. We would not care to host this high-maintenance group again.

We loved staying at Rosie’s, particularly the layout (opening roof in the living space and the roof deck with beautiful views). Anything you see in the photos is the property not shared amenities with other houses. There is bottled water and refills. There were face washers, plenty of spare towels and some pantry items. Each bedroom has its bathroom. The king bedroom downstairs has a foam topper and is very comfortable. The queen bed on that floor is firm. There is a queen bedroom on the top/ roof deck floor. There are blockout curtains and a variety of pillows, mainly soft. There’s a washing machine, dryer and washing liquid. The location is about a 15 minute easy walk mainly downhill on cobblestones to the Parroquia. We used a taxi often to get home. Only use the green taxis with a number in the side. Do not use Uber. They can be bogus and hence not traceable. It is a quiet neighbourhood.

Rosie was quickly responsive to our messages. The home was as advertised...plus a beautiful view!

Host Response

Thank you John! It was great having you as our guests. Come back soon!

Rosie’s place was a great space for our extended family to stay while in SMA for a wedding. We were 4 separate parties of adults and each party had its own bedroom with bathroom and shower. The courtyard is beautiful and was where we spent most of our time while at the house. There was plenty of bottled water waiting for us. Rosie was super responsive to our messages while staying there. The only things to note are that the 4th bedroom is literally a separate space on the roof - you go outside and then into the little guesthouse. This is the space with the exercise equipment and bunk-style beds in the pictures. Because it was on the roof it was quite exposed to the noise at night, so whoever stays there should be a heavy sleeper. Also, as mentioned in other reviews there were fireworks starting Saturday night and continuing through Sunday morning. They were quite loud but I suspect they would be loud no matter where you stay in the city. Overall this was a great stay!

Overall it was a great place the only thing is that the pictures on the web do not coincide with the actual living quarters. The pictures make it look very beutiful but we’re very disappointed once we were inside the Airbnb.

Host Response

I am so confused on this one. The person that made the reservation was not the same person that arrived, so not even sure who created this review, but I wish they would of told me when they were there what was disappointing about it. I checked with them throughout the stay and they seemed to really be enjoying it. Hmm..... Very strange experience for me as a host as well.

When I travel I hope to find places to stay that make me feel at home — safe, comfortable, easy to navigate, and frictionless. Rosie’s sensational home exceeded all those desires. She bent backwards to make sure I was greeted when I arrived — at midnight!!! All rooms were spacious, spotless, and impressively functional. The architecture, patios, and rooftop were gorgeous and elegantly reflected the spirit of San Miguel de Allende. The home was perfectly situated for my business meetings at nearby offices and for my personal gatherings at fabulous restaurants all within walking distance. It was easy for me to feel at home. Thank you Rosie and Martha!

Great location! The place was generally lovely, though didn't match the photos and needs maintenance. There were pictures of rooms that didn't exist (gym is now a room with built in bunk beds - gym equipment was shoved into the office space, which meant there was now a room with bunk beds, but neither gym or office space was usable, so not as many spaces available as we expected. Wifi only works sitting right next to the router, so we could not get any wifi in courtyard, roof, or even the kitchen. Chairs on roof were broken, lightbulbs not all working, clocks not working. Two of four fans didn't work and it's HOT (she did replace after several days). The bathroom wall tile dangerously collapsed all over the floor while we were there (she did refund us a couple days as a result). Rosie was responsive to texts and house was clean with a great view from the roof. If she's able to address some of the issues/maintenance, the house would be lovely.

Host Response

Unfortunately Maren came to San Miguel during the hotter part of the year which is April and May. It is important to do weather research before your trip. We got her new fans so we had to put them together for her and she was bothered that someone was assembling them for her at the house when the intention was to make it as easy as possible for her as our goal will always be for our clients to have the best time. Her claim that rooms do not exist is false as all rooms in pictures exist. We have not had previous complaints about the wifi, and I usually myself work from there and have no issues. Before her arrival, the bathroom tiles were fine and she reported that the tile started falling, so we sent someone right away to check it out for repair. We always appreciate feedback on how to improve, so even though she didn't have the best time in San Miguel, we value her feedback as your comfort and enjoyment will always be my priority.

we had a fantastic stay - Rosie was very responsive and helpful with any questions. We were able to drop off our luggage early so we could explore the town on our first day. The house is well equipped and very comfortable. There were 8 of us and we never felt cramped - We mainly used the garden patio and the roof terrace - an oasis in the centre of town with gorgeous views of the cathedral and amazing sunsets. It is in a quiet area though walking distance to everything. Having 4 bedrooms and bathrooms was wonderful. We would gladly stay here again and would happily recommend Rosie's place.

Beautiful house, super well-located (few blocks from the Center, walkable to all shops, restaurants and galleries in town), and the host is kind and helpful. Thank you Rosie!!

Host Response

It was our pleasure Maria. Thank you for being excellent guests!

The private courtyard is beautiful and so is the view from the roof top deck. This was a very walkable location. We were within minutes from the center of town with restaurants and shopping in all directions. Check in and check out was super easy. I wish we would have had the outdoor furniture that the pictures portrayed, as we were so looking forward to spending a lot of our stay outdoors. The dining room table was inside the home and furniture on the rooftop deck was sparse.

Host Response

Thank you Patricia for your stay. We moved the beautiful outdoor dining table inside to protect it from the sun, but I wish you would of told us that you wanted it outdoors, we would of gladly loved it for you. Don’t be shy to ask us as our goal is that you enjoy the beautiful spaces to the max during your stay!
