Excellent, 1 month ago

As avid Airbnb users, I can confidently say this was one of the best Airbnb stays we have ever the pleasure of experiencing. The photos do not do justice to how beautiful, clean, comfortable and peaceful the house is. Daniel & Fernando were perfect hosts - helpful, friendly, accommodating and informative. Having Kary at the house daily to help with cleaning, breakfast and general questions was what pushed this into an A+++ stay. Kary is so friendly, kind and helpful and a wonderful cook. I definitely recommend taking advantage of Daniel's offer to have a dinner in the Cosina de Humo on the terrace - not only was the food delicious, the atmosphere they have created out there is magical. This will be our go to place to stay on all future trips to Oaxaca. Muchas gracias Daniel, Fernando y Kary!

This spectacular home sets a high bar for all other properties to follow. Take a beautifully designed home, add 147 potted plants (Yes, I counted) and you wind up with a visually stunning and deeply calming space. Add a fully stocked fridge; Add Marisela the house attendant who was wonderful, as was all of her food and our stay was truly unforgettable. Not sure what I enjoyed more… coffee & yoga on the roof top every morning… or the Mezcal tastings in the basement speakeasy every evening.

Our group was so excited to stay at Fernando’s place and yet it exceeded our expectations. The decor was beautiful, the outdoor space was serene. Kary greeted us on arrival to show us around the home. She had delicious fruit, guacamole, and salsa waiting for us. The mezcal bar was such a lovely treat and we enjoyed tasting all the different options. Kary also came to cook us breakfast one morning which was so lovely and delicious. We also arranged with Fernando to have his team cook us dinner one evening in the outdoor kitchen. Two of our guests are vegan and they were able to curate a menu to suit all of our needs. The meal was amazing and it was so special to be able to eat in the outdoor space. This was such a nice touch and we appreciated it so much! One of the highlights of our trip. The home is outside of the main town area but we walked into town easily every day. Would stay here again and again!! A lovely experience. Thank you!!

One of the most amazing Airbnbs we stayed at! We loved the cul de sac location, how walkable the airbnb was to the main center areas, the availability of delicious restaurants and markets, and the ample space that our family with young children of 6 and 8 years old had. The housekeeper who came everyday was incredibly helpful and kind. She not only helped prepare breakfast each morning but also helped in cleaning our rooms throughout the day. My husband worked remotely for a few days and had no issues with Wifi. We even brought our own starlink but it wasn't necessary because the wifi worked so well (for all the of the intense internet needs across meetings, virtual calls, etc.). We were also able to order lunch in advance so my husband could just walk into the kitchen and have a delicious meal each day prepared fresh for him. We also really appreciated the hosts responsiveness and recommendations to make our stay outstanding. The tour service and airport transfer recos were A+++!

Fernando's home is truly remarkable. The photos really do not do it justice, and we're so grateful we had the chance to stay here. The kitchen was perfect for group gathering in the mornings before heading out to so many walkable destinations. The bedrooms were so clean and comfortable, and each bathroom was pristine. The real star is obviously the mezcal cellar behind the hidden door! Such a fun aspect of the home and also a great spot to lounge with a large group. We were a group of 6 friends and all felt like we had plenty of space. Thank you again and we would love to come back!!

What a lovely place! Let me say first, even if the house had not been beautiful having Kary there to greet us with guacamole and salsa when our flight arrived five hours late would have been enough to earn endless praise. Waking up to cut fruit, eggs, coffee, and cocoa was also really lovely, and Kary made this a really special stay. The house itself is also beautiful - the photos almost don't do it justice, especially the comfortable beds and linens, and the very large outdoor area. The outdoor kitchen is a really cool feature, and the option to have someone come cook a meal there was very neat. FWIW, we were there with two small children, and had to do a bit of crowd control to make sure they didn't climb the stairs or break any of the cool ceramics (which we just moved to a higher shelf, so not a huge deal). This was not a negative for us, but you will need to mind very young kids. Also - the gate on the street is not locked, and street parking is safe and easy.

The property is truly exceptional, boasting a fantastic location. Just a short walk from Santo Domingo, it’s surrounded by charming local eateries that make exploring the area a delight. Fernando was always one step ahead, ensuring a smooth check-in and providing thoughtful recommendations throughout our stay. Marisela prepared a delicious breakfast every morning and shared valuable local tips that made our experience even better. Alcalá 226 is worth every penny—we would absolutely return without hesitation.

There were three of us staying in this very modern, but grounded in place home during Christmas week. We were pleased to have used the car service recommended by the owners for airport transfers and a road trip. Sound does indeed travel in this concrete house ! The ability to wander into town, explore the markets, shops and museums was terrific. Marisela was gracious in her caretaking :). The entire home was used from the Mezcal library to the 3rd floor terrace. It was our first trip to Oaxaca, and we all agree, it won’t be our last. Wow !

This place will hold a special place in my heart as well as my family & friends. Not only were we celebrating my 40th, Dia de Los Muertos, but also I got engaged here, right on the patio overlooking the stars in front of candlelight and my family and friends! This place not only inspired me but other guests whose profession is design and art. Marie was amazing and when we had a little issue with the oven one night trying to cook dinner, she insisted on cooking us breakfast the next morning! We shared so many family and friend memories here, even did our little yoga and meditation sessions on the balcony! I think we’ll be back in the future, possible for an anniversary! It’s truly magical here!

This house made us feel like we were locals. It was a quick 10-15 walk from the heart of downtown Oaxaca. Upon arrival, there were welcome drinks and snacks ready for us. We really liked that Fatima, the woman that helps clean the house, stopped by every day during our stay to clean and organize the house. She also made us some snacks one of the morning we were there. The home was beautifully decorated. We wish we could have spent more time in the house to really enjoy all the spaces. I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent place to stay, we were welcomed with some very tasty complimentary snacks and lots of fruit! They helped us do laundry and find our way around the city. Thanks!

Lovely older home in traditional Mexican style, nicely decorated. Furniture is somewhat low to the ground and may be uncomfortable for some. Mosquitoes can be a problem but plenty of repellent available. Rooms were all air-conditioned, which was very nice. The downstairs master bedroom is a bit remote and below ground level lending itself to a musty feel. Host was very responsive to our questions. Fatima was an exceptional addition to our experience. She was present every morning for housekeeping, preparing breakfast if requested and concierge services which all made our trip a wonderful experience

We loved every minute of our stay at Fernando’s home. Fatima’s welcome and delicious meals were such a personalized treat. We felt enveloped in nature and loved the peaceful street. As first time visitors to Oaxaca, we embraced all of his recommendations and loved every single one. Chepiche breakfast is a must and so close to the home! I loved the basement speaker system and the well stocked kitchen! Coffee on the upstairs porch was also a dream. Fernando always responded to my questions in a timely matter. I hope to return in the future and highly recommend this rental to anyone! Oaxaca is amazing!

The most magical stay for our family visit to Oaxaca. Found at the end of a private street you are at your oasis. Open and beautiful design. So many thoughtful touches including local art and soaps. Miss Marisol is so attentive and wonderful - such a treat to come back to a clean place each day and the complimentary snacks and water were so fabulous for us - especially our kids. I can’t say enough about this place - will recommend to all our friends! Really a stand out stay!

We had a beautiful stay at Alcala 226. The house was stunning and Mary, the housekeeper, was a dream. The extras - a stocked fridge, breakfast and snacks, the mezcal samples - made the stay even more special, and I didn’t think my kids would ever want to leave. The location was ideal, off a quiet street but still close to everything including a lovely breakfast place around the corner. We took some time to look into the history of the home and family, and we fell in love with their story. I’ve already ordered Bricia’s cookbooks, and we plan to visit their restaurant next time we’re in LA. Thank you for everything. We can’t wait to come back.

The stay at this property was incredible. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Communication/Booking: - The hosts were very responsive to messages and very accommodating with requests like allowing us to check-in a few hours early and storing our bags in the property on the day of check out until our flight time. Property/Neighborhood: - Remarkable house with excellent finishes and small touches throughout that really elevate your experience. The fridge is well stocked with drinks and on the housekeeper brought fruits and snacks regularly. The day we arrived we were surprised with guacamole, salsa, and chips to munch on after our travel. - Mezcal cellar is great and we had a fun time tasting various mezcals. - The terrace is beautiful and well adorned - All rooms and bathrooms were clean - Location is great. Within 20-25 min walk from all the major attractions within the city. - Loved this stay and would 100% recommend to anyone visiting Oaxaca with a larger group.

Fernando was an incredible host. He went above and beyond what was expected. He made us feel as though we were friends or family and welcomed us into his home. He had Fatima meet us with an array of snacks including an amazing homemade guacamole and salsa. And he had her make fresh juice and left us beer and sparkling water in the fridge. I absolutely didn’t want to leave. If you’re visiting Oaxaca it’s definitely the place to stay. Thank you Fernando for making us feel so incredibly welcome and at home. I will definitely be back!!

Overall our stay at the casa was lovely. It’s a peaceful environment and has space to hang out after a long day. We loved the aesthetic. The kitchen was well stocked and the mezcal bar a nice touch. Fatima was kind and brought morning goods. Everything was cleaned regularly. When we arrived, the master bedroom, very spacious room, was filled with mosquitos which made it impossible to use for 2 nights until they remedied the situation, which they did, although it continued to be smelly for another day or two. This was disappointing. Also note, the master is a lot of stairs to access from the outside. We were 3 people staying, so it was comfortable however if you were 8, I’m not sure it would be. The living room doesn’t have a ton of furniture. We enjoyed the terrace the most. It’s sunny and a nice place to hangout. The location is off the beaten path which worked for us. We love Oaxaca and thx for sharing your home with us.

The photos don’t lie—this is an absolutely stunning house! Located on a quiet, private street an easy 10-15 minute walk from Oaxaca’s historic center, it’s a lovely oasis with comfortable interior spaces and a beautiful roof deck. The hosts provided a wealth of helpful recommendations and instructions, and were responsive when we had questions. The friendly house manager Mary/Marisela added a touch of hotel-style personal attention that you would normally not have access to in a rental. Our family group of five adults found we had ample space, both for the times we wanted to share and the times when we wanted to be alone. We would return here eagerly if our travels bring us back to Oaxaca.

Amazing place to stay for a few days. Accommodations were very comfortable and clean. Plenty of space and the Mezcal cave was awesome use of space!

We had a great time staying in this home. It was an amazing oasis to day long activities. Location was convenient walkable to the city center and bus terminal. Fatima was a great host, she came every day and made the beds and cleaned the kitchen. It was nice to arrive with snacks and provisions in the fridge. We asked if Fatima could teach us how to use the outdoor kitchen equipment. We had a lovely day making tortillas. The empanadas and tacos were delicious. I have recommended this place to all my friends.

This place is incredible! It’s hard to say what was better — the gorgeous space or the top notch hosting. The welcome snack when we arrived made such a big difference, because it meant we didn’t have to go find a place for dinner after 9pm. It was also delicious, and so nice to have Mary show us around. The place is close to a super cute neighborhood, Jalatlaco, and about a 20 min walk from the center of town. The mezcal basement and tastings are also such a cool touch. A really special place with excellent hosts. Just two very small things to note — bring your own shampoo and conditioner because not all of the bathrooms have them, and if you are sleeping on the top floor and like a dark room, bring an eye mask. Overall, highly recommend!

We were a group of seven women who came to Oaxaca for our joint 30 birthdays. It was the perfect place to retreat back to after a day of walking, shopping and eating! When we first arrived, the team had organised a welcome platter which was so lovely and tasty! Fatima came every morning and made delicious breakfasts and her signature Oaxaca hot chocolate. The house was decorated beautifully with local art, plus they put in a beautiful Christmas tree and nativity set to celebrate the holidays. The team were v responsive and organised taxis for us when we needed to get back to the bus station. 10/10, would definitely come again and am recommending to everyone!

This place was perfect for our group. It is a short walk to the center of town. The house is spacious and very comfortable. The attention to detail was amazing. Maria was a big benefit. It was so nice to have her help daily. Because the design is very open sound does travel. One of our group was doing a lot of work calls and that wasn’t the best, even the Mezcal room transmitted sound up the open staircase. It is a very fun room. The internet was fast and more than sufficient for all our needs. I highly recommend staying here unless people are doing work calls.

While not exactly a surprise - after all we saw the pictures and description, Fernando's place was a very pleasant surprise. It is stunning, cozy, modern, and well located. What struck me most was the quality of linens and towels, the attention to detail in bathrooms and the kitchen. The surprising level of thoughtfulness to make you comfortable that is not even advertised in his ad. It was a truly remarkable experience, and I would love to be back soon.

The best Airbnb experience I have ever had. This place deserves a 10 star rating. It is absolutely gorgeous & extremely spacious. We were blown away with the service each day. Food upon arrival was delicious, fresh fruit was provided daily & the place was spotless every time we returned from our adventures. The kitchen was well stocked with coffee, tea & other necessities. The surrounding area was safe to navigate & had some beautiful architecture & great restaurants. Our host was quick to respond & very accommodating. I would return to this Airbnb over & over again!

If visiting Oaxaca definitely book this house. It was absolutely amazing with everything we needed. Fatima left us some amazing snacks & provided some beer for our arrival, which was a lovely gesture. She was very friendly & was happy to help us with recommendations & to settle in. The house was at the end of a quiet street so very safe but still walkable to restaurants & for sight seeing. Thank you Fernando & Fatima, we really enjoyed our stay.

This was the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. Not only the house itself, but Mary the concierge, was so incredible. The level of service for an airbnb was better even the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The home itself is beautifully designed and maintained including the beautiful plants throughout. The hosts also provide so many thoughtful details to enrich the stay for the guests from the mezcal tasting in the secret basement, to the kitchen being stocked with food, drinks and treats down to the cute handmade soaps with little handwritten messages on it. The amount of thought and effort the hosts put into creating the nicest experience possible is beyond admirable. You must stay here.

We absolutely loved our stay at Acala 226. Every detail was thought of and the house completely surpassed our expectations. Mary was a gem, providing daily housekeeping, laundry service, and even made breakfast for us two mornings upon request!! The location is in walking distance to many restaurants and shops. I’m an interior designer, and I was blown away by the architecture and decor in the home. Not to mention the incredible view from the master suite. Don’t miss the secret mezcal basement… five star experience! I will definitely be back!!!

this may easily be one of the best airbnb experiences i have ever had. stayed at this place for a week with my sister and her two daughters and we all loved it. it’s beautiful and so well decorated with art from local artists such as La Piztola collective whose work i admire and have been following for a while, as well as a new (to me) woodcarver whose masks i now love, adrian xuana. the welcoming snack was perfect and perfectly prepared by fátima, who is so lovely. the whole team in fact is super nice and helpful! we loved the terrace and relaxing up there after our long days walking. around. and really liked walking around the xochimilco neighborhood. the walk to the centro histórico is also easy. i can’t wait to come back to this house!

The location is fantastic - far enough from Oaxaca Centro to be at peace but close enough to walk over whenever one wants to explore. The property has plenty of nooks, hangout, and relaxing spots if you're in the mood to be alone or hang out with family and/or friends. Each section of rooms (top floor, ground floor, and main bedroom) had their respective vibes despite having similar decoration. We always felt at peace in the house and at the property overall. The Hosts were communicative and were very responsive to any questions we had. Also, as you've likely read on other reviews, Faty/Fatima was great and very helpful. She shows up every morning and had a variety of fruit, pan dulce, yogurt and granola, and hot chocolate for us to eat as we were getting our days started. She's also a great resource if someone needs recommendations on transportation and places to visit/go eat. You will NOT be disappointed when visiting here. When in Oaxaca I'll definitely be staying here.

We can't say enough good things about our stay at Alcala 228. The house is spacious, inviting, and beautifully appointed--extremely comfortable for our group of 6. It was a real treat to have Fatima arrive each morning to set up breakfast--she's very nice! Location is great for walking into the center and feels very safe. Fernando is the best airbnb host we've ever had--extremely helpful, terrific recommendations, and a great communicator. He made a real difference in our trip. Highly recommend staying here--you couldn't ask for more!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful Airbnb in Oaxaca, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment I booked, the experience was exceptional. Fernando was incredibly responsive and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was smooth and enjoyable. They helped us with transportation arrangements, making our arrival and departure stress-free. Additionally, Fernando provided fantastic local recommendations that truly enhanced our visit. The Airbnb itself is located in a quiet and safe neighborhood, which made us feel comfortable and relaxed throughout our stay. It was a short, pleasant walk to many amenities. The home was beautifully decorated and impeccably clean. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged. Overall, this Airbnb exceeded our expectations in every way.

Wow. Staying here is an incredible experience in itself. From the moment we first opened the door, this place felt like magic. The care put into every detail of our stay, from fresh fruit, comfortable accommodations, tasty mezcal, great recommendations, charging stations, absolutely perfect ambient lighting… to Fatima’s incomparable, thoughtful hospitality, I cannot recommend this home enough. Spending brief stormy afternoons on the covered rooftop was a standout, and all the outdoor space is just something so special. Fernando has an impeccable attention to detail & we truly felt cared for. Just wow.

Bricia's house was fabulous! From the vaulted brick living room and open kitchen, to the mezcal den, spacious bedrooms, and rooftop terrace, this was the perfect place to gather with family and enjoy Oaxaca City. Bricia's and her co-hosts were super responsive and accommodating, and it felt like they had thought of every detail: each room has air conditioning, there are parking spots if you have a car, and the house is serviced by a wonderful cleaning person each day who also puts out fresh fruit and pastries for breakfast. The house is comfortably located just outside the historic downtown on a quiet street with views of the surrounding mountains. I highly recommend Bricia's place if you want to have a fantastic time in Oaxaca!

Beautiful Airbnb and perfect for our group. Host was responsive and Mary was easy to communicate with. Great selection of mezcals and ample space for a group to spend time together. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend this airbnb!

Great airbnb! The host was responsive post booking. Once we arrived we were greeted with a full spread of fresh salsa, guacamole, fruit, juices and mezcal. Every morning there were fresh pastries and Mary was easy to communicate with. She helped arrange taxis for whatever we needed. Overall, our group had a great time and would recommend this airbnb.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this delightful house in a safe and welcoming neighborhood. From the moment I arrived, I knew I was in for a special experience. The house itself was absolutely adorable, exuding a cozy and inviting atmosphere. However, what truly made our stay unforgettable was the presence of a remarkable woman who brightened my mornings. Every day, she would come by with a basket of freshly baked bread and other delightful treats. Her thoughtful gesture added an extra touch of warmth and hospitality to my stay. It was evident that she genuinely cared about the well-being and comfort of her guests.

This was the nicest place I’ve ever stayed! The place was so well designed with quality details. The mezcal library and rooftop were major highlights. We literally chose to drink in the library one night vs. be out at the bars. Every time we had a question or needed help, the host or housekeeper were extremely responsive. I hope to return to Oaxaca someday just so I can stay here again.

Our family of five adults loved everything about the house, its location, and opportunities for hanging out together or private time. There are three separate garden areas landscaped with traditional plantings and each has its own vibe. From my first inquiry to our return travel day, Fernando and his team were quick to respond, offered great advice, recommended an excellent tour guide, and we felt very supported. And words cannot describe Fatima, our wonderful on-site host who arrived each morning with pastries, breakfast items, and made lovely platters of sliced fruit. She kept the house spotless, renewed towels, supplies, tidied the garden and even set up the coffee for the next day. Although we arrived in the evening she met us at the front door and offered us a traditional mezcal toast, a botana of local foods and gave us a house tour. I have never known such an outstanding home stay experience! A one-of-a-kind home. We'd go back tomorrow if we could!

Loved this Airbnb. Perfect for groups when you want privacy but spaces to convene and hangout together. Beautifullly designed, well stocked, and the mezcal tasting room is something special. The primary room has a beautiful terrace with plants galore -- lovely for morning coffee before it gets too hot. The location is really walkable to anywhere in the city and quieter than the centre for a good sleep. Special thank you to Mary who was the best. She was so helpful and responsive to messages. She kept the house pristine ...and her guacamole was the best we had (so far!) while in Oaxaca City. 😋

We had an incredible stay! The hosts were incredibly responsive from the moment we booked. They sent local recommendations, allowed us to check in early and we were greeted with a lovely spread of snacks and drinks upon check in! The house is even more beautiful than what's shown in photos. We felt like we had a private, cool and peaceful space to decompress after long days in the sun walking around town. The home was spotless, beds were comfortable and there were many spaces to catch up as a group or get some relaxing solo time. This home is magical and inspiring...definitely the coolest AirBnb I've stayed in to date.

Truly an ideal accommodation option when staying within Oaxaca, both for the property itself and the host. The property itself is situated in a perfect location; close, yet not too close (i.e.: walkable, yet quiet). It is spacious and clean, with multiple areas to kick back and relax (both indoors and out - enormous backyard). I can not speak highly enough about the host (Fernando). Highly responsive and very friendly. He went above and beyond with assisting in the coordination of transport for airport shuttle and day trip travel. Going the extra mile: daily housekeeping; freshly-made welcome snack; the option for a homemade breakfast in the backyard. Those that often travel know that you rarely ever get such supplemental perks. Definitely worth consideration. Happy travels!
