accommodation to flee the worst of accommodations seen for a month apart from changing the sheets ( better not to lift them to see the cleanliness of the mattress) nothing should be done in these listings between 2 guests. It's filthy dirt, it stinks , we don't know the initial color of the light switches because they're dripping with dirt, the screen is useless because it's too small so it sticks us. in short, a shame to dare to rent it at this price
Host Response
New mattress on the way Francis , sorry about that , you could have asked for different sheets ,when I saw you though , if they weren’t new enough . The room will soon be given a fresh coat of varnish & we’ve put a new bigger mosquito net in there as well . You seemed to be enjoying yourselves at Beverlys Hill when I did see you , thanks for staying & pointing out these things that were not up to our usual high standards . Hope you enjoyed the beautiful wildlife that live on the property & safe onward voyage !

We were comfortable, the garden is incredibly beautiful. It's like being in a treehouse, surrounded by nature. But the truth is that the room and the kitchen is needed. It coincided with very noisy local parties, and we struggled to sleep. Damaris was really nice and gave us helpful recommendations.

Nice location and beautiful views. Simon was very helpful and welcoming on arrival. the place could be a bit more clean and well mantained but other than that is a beautiful spot.

ATTENTION! Be sure to clarify before arrival if there is running water. We only learned upon arrival that there is no running water in the entire accommodation, which is obviously a longer condition. The non-functioning toilet flush smelled very uncomfortable. The garden and lounge areas are extremely nice. Also the room, which is very simple, is very nice, with a beautiful view. It's worth mentioning, however, that you notice every movement from the room from the floor above and understand every word. The bathroom and kitchen are an imposition, very dirty and would have to be completely overhauled. Simon is very friendly and helpful, but doesn't seem to be quite master of the location.

I’m sorry Catherina that you were staying in the depths of the worst drought & we had temporarily run out of running water in the Guesthouse . We did however have sea water for the toilet flush & bucket showers for everyone provided each day . As for the kitchen it is small but if it is used for one couple at a time it functions fine . In regard of the cleaning my home help was away for that week & the volunteer ( who seemed ok to me ) might not have been thorough enough with the small amount of water that we had managed to import . The cabina where you stayed is presently being rennovated to increase privacy as well as general stability . Thanks for your kind comments by the way !

The place is very nice and quiet. Unfortunately, we had no running water in our booked accommodation. Toilet walks at night were very tricky and can only be handled with a headlamp. Finally, there was only one shower that had running water… Due to the lack of water situation we left early.

Sweet wooden huts in a beautiful garden where you can watch a number of animals such as lizards, red frogs, hummingbirds and chickens. Hammocks in front of the cabins and in the common area invite you to relax. The cleanliness of the bathroom left something to be desired and there was no door to the toilet so you could see directly from the bed on the toilet. Due to the current dryness on the island, there was unfortunately no running water in the room for the shower and toilet flush. However, Simon can't do anything about it. Everything you need is within walking distance, such as grocery store, restaurants and water taxi. The nearest beach Wizard Beach can be reached via a small jungle hike.

Simon has a lovely little place here. It's a unique setup, part hotel, part hostel. I stayed in room #6 which had it's own private bathroom & the shared kitchen was on the mainfloor of the building next door. I liked the vibe here the most of all the places I stayed. Things to be aware of: the property is entirely on rain water..I rationed my showers, but never had water problems. It is very challenging to find anywhere to eat during the day in Bastimentos and the grocery stores have VERY limited supplies (Stock up on Isla Colon first). If you don't like bugs, this is not the place for you...they sneak in at night and scamper away during the day; there is a bug net for sleeping but you may wake up to find a jungle beetle or 3 on your floor during the night.

it is a pleasant place in nature that is its greatest value, the hosts were friendly and very conservative. many things were in poor condition, for example the fridge, the light bulb burned on the second day. The kitchen is not careful. It says they have a washing machine but it also didn't work. They should put a little more care to the place, which is a pleasant tropical adventure. The wifi only arrives in the common area. It's time to highlight that as well.

Beverly's hills is located in the middle of the town on arrival at bastimentos. We choose the room with a view (highest room). It had a gorgeous view. But to be honest the place can use a little TLC. Whith not to much investing this place could be much nicer... That said, Simon is a really nice guy, always in for a chat and advice. Make sure to go to firefly for dinner: really good food and nice place.

Beverlys Hills a beautiful place, surrounded by greenery, the cabin has all the amenities, super comfortable bed, air conditioning, bathroom, ocean view. Simon was always attentive to us, gave us information on which places to visit and you can leave Bastimentos towards any beach or island. How beautiful the Caribbean is! ❤️

Beautifully located in the middle of trees. Amazing views. Quaint cabin - just the comforts a wooden cabin offers: None 😬 Gives clean places, no toilet door available. Completely ok in itself, only the price-performance ratio is wrong here. $75 total per night without breakfast- otherwise you get a lot more for the same money. The host is very nice and answers messages super fast.
Host Response
Actually Carolina the suite with the view that I upgraded you to is $ 75 , the lower suite where you stayed for your second night is $ 59 ( high season ) , so your pricing comments are not accurate . Thanks for your other remarks though & for choosing us .

The accommodation itself is very nice. You sleep in individual cabins with your own bathroom (integrated in the bedroom - without a door). A kitchen for shared use is provided. You should know that the accommodation is called "Beverly hills" - then you should also find it faster than we... It wasn't special, but it was okay. We didn't hear much about the host, which was also due to New Year's Eve. However, I was also missing information in advance to find the place well.

Perfect if you want to avoid the partyscene in Bocas town. Up on a hill on Bastimentos. The huts are realy nice with a hamock on the balcony. From there you have a realy nice view over the village. Perfect to relax in a hamock and enjoy the view. Power broke down on the whole island, but the owners provided water in buckets for shower and toilet. If you stay on an island you have to expect that, so no big problam. Owners are entertaining, "Beverlys Hill" is definitely the right name for their place.

Unfortunately, we didn't have the best time in room number 6. Although the climb up the hill wasn't too bad, the insects at night were. And then I don't mean little bugs or mosquitos, no: multiple 5cm cockroaches and even a scorpion(!) in our room. Simon did offer his help by cleaning the room the next day but that didn't help as the bugs returned. Eventually, we proposed to move a room up ourselves (but we also found a cockroach there). I travelled a lot and I would say I'm a rather adventurous traveler, but this was a bit too much jungle experience for my taste. Perhaps the other (lower) rooms are better but then again there isn't much on isla bastimentos to go for. It's basically an island full of local (almost indigenous) people where they put a couple hostels on. I would recommend staying in Bocas town (off the main grid) or red frog beach for a better experience in Bocas del toro.
