Very cozy place near the Old Bank and the nature. The host was very friendly, helpful and eager to give good local recommendations. The only minus was the smoke from a neighbour burning trashes on the first night, but after that we had a lovely stay at the cabin.

We stayed here for a month. If you’re looking for a beautiful jungle cabin with nearby beaches, this is the spot! We walked to Wizard beach every day, which is gorgeous. It’s a 25 minute walk on a trail through the jungle. It was a wonderful daily routine. The cabin has the basic necessities for a long term stay. The bed is comfy. I recommend this place for a good value stay in Bastimentos!

This is jungle living with a few modern amenities (wifi, fridge, stove...) I love the outdoor shower even though a few unwanted bugs joined me a couple of times; but what do you expect in the jungle. Yes there are screens for the space but you are still outside. I appreciated grabbing lime trees from the backyard, butterfly ginger flowers and verbain from the front, and making tea from sangria leaves. I often bought jackfruit, biribap, and gallons of fresh coconut water from the locals. Come and appreciate the experience of Bastimentos. You must do the BoticaBasti plant identification walk when you come. Zuly will teach you how there is an abundance of food and healing plants all around you. I realized I was here for 3 weeks before getting into a car or being in an indoor space. It's a different living reality.

There are things to improve, especially mattresses . Everything is in one room (beds, kitchen) , ok space for 2 , no more. Living in this authentic island is truly an experience

This cabin is simple yet welcoming! The view looking over Bastimentos cay is stunning and the house is tucked in the jungle yet so close to town. The cabin manager was very responsive to anything we needed and was so friendly! We loved calling this place home for a month and enjoyed the sunny peace, bird songs and the big porch where we spent most of our time. A truly special stay, in a magical location.

The view is amazing, we loved our stay in bastimento (old bank). Super relaxed vibe, nature everywhere you look and the locals were super friendly ♡ . Taisha’s place was just as listed. Simple, laidback beauty with lush surroundings. Yogo, who greeted us on our arrival was super helpful and generous, very diligent and always happy to help with anything we asked. We really enjoyed our walks to the amazing wizard beach. We hope to comeback, the place felt like our home for a month.

The cottage was very difficult to find. The directions are insufficient. It says we should just ask locals. Unfortunately, no one knew the place,we asked dozens of people. Finally, we had about 6/7 people around us until someone had an idea where to go. The way up there with luggage is extremely tedious. Luckily, someone came along and called loudly until a gentleman came out of the neighboring house. After a long time, he finally helped to carry the suitcases up. We gave him a very good tip. We had to call him again because the drainage in the kitchen was leaking, he did it right away. Then we didn't see anyone until the neighbor came and claimed we would let the water run. She claimed that until we let her into the house so that she could see for herself that this was not the case. Then she turned off the water to us. Her husband brought us a bucket of water. For 2 days we only had very, very little water then it went back to normal. We didn't see anyone anymore either. We still received a small bunch of bananas. On departure no one was far and wide. The cottage would be jumping in itself,it is missing comfortable seating. The location is also ok.

This place was incredible. The view outside the door is breathtaking. It’s near a path to an incredible coffee shop called Up in the Hill. Comfortable bed too. The island of Bastimentos is amazing, and I highly recommend this place!

A perfect cabin, with all the amenities you could ask for, tucked away on Basimentos. The place was great, awesome view. It was a perfect getaway to finish our trip after months of traveling and staying in cramped hostels with lots of other people. The people on the island are extremely friendly too!

The jungle cabin is clean, spacious and well equipped. Getting to it is an easy walk from Old Bank but it's far enough away from any noise at night. We loved the comfortable bed and spending time on the lovely verandah. You can easily cut onto the path to get to Up On the Hill cafe too - highly recommended!

We really enjoyed our stay at Taisha's place. Bastimentos is a truly beautiful island, with very rich culture and the nicest people. It is a true local experience and I would definitely stay here if I find myself in Bocas again.

Taisha's place is awesome. Tany is the co-host and she was in Basti while we stayed. She is super sweet, helpful and responsive. Sonia is Taisha's mom and she lives across the hill on the same property. She is the sweetest, coolest boss woman in old bank. If you get a chance to chat with her (or try her delicious cooking) then jump at it, she's awesome! Her property is gorgeous, and the best looking/cleanest place in old bank. Atta is the gardener/maintenance man and he is always around making the place look great. If you need anything ask him (but you should speak to him in Spanish) otherwise, ask Tany, as her English is perfect. There are a bunch of fruit trees, tea leaves, cacao on the property which you are allowed to help yourself too. We even picked up a coconut from the tree in front of the cabina, and Atta prepared it for us! The cabina is rustic, but it's very well made and it provides everything you need for a simple, yet comfortable stay. We only had cold water available while we stayed, but that wasn't really a problem as it is so warm the cold shower is refreshing and helps cool you down. If you want/need warm/hot water then you should check with them about this before you book, so as not to be disappointed. The wifi was a little patchy at times, and not super fast, but overall it's pretty good, and we only lost full connection due to power outage a few times. The cabina sits on the edge of the jungle, and you have the most gorgeous views. We saw a sloth in the tree right next to the cabina. The neighbour's all say hi to one another when walking up and down the hill, and to Sonia, and they all laugh and are very friendly. The cabina feels very safe and we cannot recommend it enough. It's only a 3 minute walk from the town (and 3 small general stores) and the dock or park to catch a water taxi. It's up a hill, but it's great daily exercise! If you're looking for a place away from the tourists and crowds (like Red Frog, on the other side of Basti, or in Bocas), and want to just chill and hang out with the locals, surrounded by the jungle, then this is the place for you!

Love the location and cabin and hope to return soon. Live real life in a wonderful community and get to know the locals. Couldn't be better than Basti. All made easy in this special place.

Amazing cabin surrounded by beautiful tropical flowers and trees, constantly visited by colorful birds and their songs, and just 5 min away from Old Bank’s dock. Excellent space with thoughtful touches and a perfect kitchen to prepare small meals (maybe add more cutlery). If you’re not too attracted by Bocas’ nightlife and crowded streets, this place is perfect to get away from the noise and get more in touch with the island’s nature and exuberant beaches

I immediately felt comfortable in this wonderful place. It is located in a beautiful garden, has a very nice covered veranda area and although it is only a few minutes to the place, you are felt there in another world. One morning, even a sloth was climbed through the tree right in front of the porch. The place was clean and simply decorated and decorated with some lovely touches. A good mosquito net is available, the door and windows also have fly screens and the bed is very comfortable. With the window open, you can see the stars from the bed at night and hear the sounds of the jungle. The neighborhood was very friendly and thoughtful, so I felt very safe. The WiFi worked great. My hostess welcomed me very warmly, and communication during my stay was perfect.

My friends and i would recommend staying somewhere else. This airbnb had no working wifi unless you were on the outside porch on the edge. There was one half roll of toilet paper for 10 days for what was supposed to be 3 people staying. We had an extra person and paid $100 which was fine. Only 2 towels for 10 days for 4 people as well. The sink was falling off the wall with a massive leak. There was no hot water, and the toilet broke on our 3rd day there. There is no working a/c and one fan. On the 6th night, we were woken up by someone banging on the door at 4 am demanding for us to open it for him to “fix the circuit breaker” because the “power went out”. When in reality one of the neighbours told us the next morning when he checked the breaker (we refused to open the door), that this was a scam and he cut our power himself in order to lure us out so he could rob us. Its not a safe area for tourists to stay as the local men harassed us every time we stepped out onto the main road. We left that day and stayed on the main island for the remainder of our trip. We were very, very disappointed with our stay.

We had an amazing time here. The location is great, bastimentos is the right place for everyone who decides to relax or visit all the other islands in the archipelago without having the party life in Bocas Town. We arrived one day later early in the morning because we took the bus from Panama City to Almirante and the Check-in was no Problem. Atta, the nice groundkeeper let us in and later on tunisha came by and let us know everything we needed. The cabin has a great view into the jungle, we even saw 2 sloths right beside us one morning! You can do so much exciting activities on and around bastimentos but we can definetly recommend the wizard beach which you can reach by an awesome hike to the other coast of bastimentos (25min but its really worth it) and the cayo Zapatillas. This are 2 small islands, you only get to them on a tour with the local guides ( we payed around 35$). As I said we had a great time there, the cabin is the right location to start every day in Bocas del Toro and we recommend it to everyone who wants to visit the archipelago. Daniel&Johanna

this place was lovely....private, comfortable and in the trees....easy access to the town (though on arrival it didn't seem that way :) ) and Gareth and Maritz were fantastic hosts even though they were leaving the day after I arrived. Tana stepped in with out missing a beat and Ata (the guardian) took care of my ridiculously heavy suitcase. I'd definitely recommend this place if you want to stay on Bastimiento's and have a feeling of luxury (note: there is no coffee maker....bring your own cotton drip if you want coffee at home)

Bastimentos is a stunning island. A lot quieter than Bocas, no cars, super adventure. Ready to get muddy? You will be richly rewarded, seeing animals and deserted beaches. The jungle house was the perfect setting for this experience. Go for it! Best hosts ever

Staying here was incredible. It is a 'tiny house' but it was absolutely delightful and it was enough room for my in-laws and my husband and I. There was a separate deck we had free reign of which was awesome. Sonia, Taisha's mom, took great care of us and even scored us amazing tickets for a last minute tour! The accommodations were fantastic. Beware that the shower is only cold at this point in time but it was refreshing after being out in the sun all day! It did not take away from our trip at all. Sonia gave us some key pointers on where to go and stuff as well. We truly loved our stay at this little jungle cabin. The only thing that took away from staying here was the neighborhood was pretty dirty and there weren't any beaches within walking distance that didn't have trash all over them. Unfortunately, the locals don't really seem to take good care of the beautiful island that they have. Honestly, though, Taisha's property is gorgeous and very comfortable! And Sonia was delightful! We greatly enjoyed our time at the jungle cabin.
