We enjoyed our stay at Pilar's place very much. The location was perfect to attend Ilisa Language School nearby, an easy 10 minute walk. The apartment was clean and cozy and had everything we needed (we cooked for ourselves most of the time). It was easy to walk to restaurants in San Pedro and Curritabat, and we used Uber to get to/from San Jose. We felt very safe and highly recommend this apartment for a stay in San Pedro. Pilar and her husband were very attentive and available for any questions!

Pilar and her family are very friendly people, always willing to help you on your trip. Super central location and accessible to malls and restaurants.

I cannot thank enough Pilar and Gerardo for the way they welcomed us in their house. The place was very clean and cosy and they had absolutely everything we needed - from kitchenware to plug adapter, includind extra blanquets and others. But the highlight of our stay was definitely the kindness of the hosts. Gerardo took us to a restaurant in his car on the day of our arrival and took some board games and treats to our kids during our stay there! The surrounding area is very calm and easy to walk around but it does not have many shops in the neighborhood. I would definitely stay at this house again.

Doña Pilar's Airbnb super excellent comfortable,it has all the amenities, the kitchen is super equipped,everything is relatively close, a super safe place. Doña Pilar, an excellent host, I was very helpful with all her guides of the places, she was always attentive to us. My mom was operated on and we were in the super comfortable Airbnb and Doña Pilar was always supporting me and guiding me for everything, thank you for being attentive. I would go back to giving myself at this Airbnb because they treat it like family.

Our days at the Airbnb were just perfect. The amenities of the place, the host is super accessible and attentive, the neighborhood and surroundings are safe and quiet, with a great location and accessibility to amenities and we would love to return.

We stayed here for 3 months and can say that Pilar and Fabrizio were phenomenal hosts. There were tons of fresh towels, a fully stocked kitchen and the whole space had a warm and cozy feel to it. We really loved spending time on the terrace as well. The neighborhood was very walkable and there are so many parks/playgrounds within walking distance. The university is also about 15 minutes away and there are so many places to eat within that walk. There are at least 3 grocery stores within walking distance and also an amazing farmer’s market on Sundays about 10 minutes away. Pilar and Fabrizio were attentive to all of our needs and they both made us feel really taken of while we were there. We’d definitely stay here again if we’re in the San Pedro area and we’d suggest staying here for anyone who is visiting the area.

I can't say enough good things about this place! The apartment was very clean and had everything you could possibly need. It is located in a quiet and safe neighborhood and we had no issues getting to places around the city that we wanted to visit so it's in a great location. The hosts were fantastic and always willing to help out if needed. The private terrace is amazing! I highly recommend staying here if you're planning to spend some time in the San Jose area.

A super cozy stay! We spent two weeks there during Christmas and New Years and the place had holiday decorations and complimentary coffee, snacks and sweets for the kids. The place is extremely clean and larger than in the pictures. Everything you need is there including tons of toiletries, fluffy clean towels (a rare find these days), games, maps, comfortable beds and more. Pilar and her family were incredibly kind and even offered on several occasions to take us to the grocery store. Great value and would stay again when in the area!

I had a wonderful stay at Pilar and Gerardo's property. The apartment is COZY and EFFICIENT, located in a peaceful street, quiet as to ensure having a good night's sleep. It is a comfortable place to spend the holidays alone or in company. safe and very clean. Mrs.Pilar and Mr. Gerardo are always present if something is needed.

A perfect place to relax in the middle of town. Pilar was always very attentive, she helped us with everything. The apartment is wonderful, and has everything you need to make at home. Everything works perfectly, very nice, clean and quiet. We look forward to returning.

We spent 5 wonderful days at this place. The hosts were very helpful, gave us many tips and always responded immediately. The place is super equipped - from coffee maker to washing machine, there is a lot available. Downtown is a 40-minute walk or Uber in 10 minutes. La Prosa (about an 8-minute walk) offers a varied breakfast offer and the cappuccino with cinnamon is highly recommended. We would come back.

To begin with, the hosts were very nice with us, very helpful and communication with the host was excellent. We loved our stay there especially since everything was clean. It is enough to fit in a family. The area was very quiet and very exclusive/safe area. The apartment was everything we were looking for from location to size and comfort. My family and I will definitely stay here again if we have the chance. It really went over our expectations! We really appreciate the host for leaving snacks, coffee, tea, water, etc. That was really nice from them. To finish off, we definitely recommend this lovely apartment to anyone.

Had a really wonderful stay with my family at this home. Doña Pilar and her family were very accommodating and lovely. Their home was really clean and well equipped. They even have a manual with everything that you need to know for the stay including recommendations for almost everything (restaurants, shops, activities, etc.). The home is located in a quiet and nice neighborhood and is very accessible. So grateful and happy to have stayed here for almost 3 months. Will definitely stay here again. ❤️🥰

After staying a month in the apartment I can say with confidence that this is a gem. The owners are lovely, exceptionally helpful people, the neighborhood is quaint (and quiet compared to downtown), and the unit is clean with all the needed amenities. Super to have the full kitchen and washer/dryer. Downtown access was easy when desired with readily available Ubers for just a few dollars. The two easy walking distance restaurants are delicious (one for breakfast or lunch, and the other for lunch or dinner). If you walk a little further there are many food options, plus Uber Eats delivers. Day trips into nature are readily available from many tour companies or a private driver. My preference is a private driver for longer trips and an Uber for shorter. In the unit there is a safe for valuables and a lockable cabinet for laptops, but the norm in Costa Rica is many locks and I never felt unsafe. The private outdoor patio space is modest, and very pleasant in the mornings and evenings. There's a limited view of the hills over rooftops when seated, and plants for charm. During my stay days were a lovely 80-85F and nights were 60-65F, perfect for sleeping. A few things that are not always options in foriegn countries are available in the apartment, for example the tap water is drinkable, tp can be flushed, there's always hot water available, trash pickup is twice a week, good internet speeds, and available netflix. Overall it's a great value and a very comfortable stay!

We stayed at Apartamento #72 in the quiet district of Don Bosco 10 days before (see this report). Actually, this is already proof enough that we were very comfortable. I am very happy to point out again that there is really nothing missing at Apartamento #72. Pilar pays attention to every last detail. I have hardly ever experienced this quality level. If we're in San José again or San Pedro, then only Apartamento #72 is possible for us.

Apartment #72 of Pilar & Fabrizio is located in the very quiet and safe neighborhood of Don Bosco in the San Pedro district. In about 10 minutes by foot, you can find various good shopping opportunities at Ruta Nacional #1. The apartment has an optimal layout of the room. The equipment is very complete. There is nothing missing for a longer stay. Check in was perfect. Renato, a brother of Fabrizio, welcomed us. Communication was quick and friendly at all times. I highly recommend staying in apartment #72 to everyone without restrictions. Many thanks to the whole family.

This place it just reflect the true Pura Vida life that Costa Rica is famous for. Pilar, Gerardo and Fabrizio are amazing host. Attention to detail, cleanliness and very warm and welcoming people. To the point that the day I arrived my flight was delayed and by the time I arrived to the apartment everything was closed and I haven’t had dinner. So Mrs Pilar awarded me a delicious Tico home meal and Gerardo… brought me a beer. Pura Vida is here look no further.

If you’re looking for a place to stay in San Jose, this is the property for you. You won’t be disappointed. I’m a study abroad student from Chicago, and me and my boyfriend stayed at this property when he came to visit. The entire house is beautiful. You have everything you could possibly need. WiFi, Netflix, YouTube, a personal patio with wall art and cotton robes 🥰 We even received complimentary snacks, waters and beers. If I ever return to San Jose, I would definitely stay here again. I’m telling you, you won’t be disappointed. ☺️

Very great place, great location.

This is a thoughtfully and attractively furnished, sparklingly clean, safe and modern place to stay in San Jose, not far from the University of Costa Rica. There is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant that you can walk to. Otherwise, it's a short Uber ride to the main museums and sights downtown - and if you're really lucky, as we were, your host Geraldo might be going that way and give you a lift! Geraldo (good English) and Pilar (for practicing your Spanish) could not have been more attentive and helpful during our two-night stay. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking at home, and there is even a charming little outdoor patio. So many thoughtful touches everywhere. We recommend Pilar's Place unreservedly.

The accommodation is just as you can see in the photos. It's comfortable and very clean and in a safe place. In addition, its location is very convenient, it is about a 15-minute walk to several restaurants. The attentions of Doña Pilar and her husband are unbeatable, they were very attentive and helpful at all times! We have no doubt about why they've been rated Superhosts!

This place has everything you need for a smooth stay in San José, bedrooms are very comfortable, the kitchen is fully equipped and there are even washer and dryer for you to save on luggage you bring on your trip. We would definitely come back here next time we plan to visit San Jose

The apartment was spotless, spacious, tasteful, and extremely comfortable, with lots of amenities and a wonderful kitchen. We are seasoned travelers with Airbnb. There is no need to look further for a lovely apartment in a quiet neighborhood of San Jose (San Pedro). It is near the bustling University, and a quick and easy taxi or uber ride to and from the main sites of interest. We were so touched with the generosity and thoughtfulness of Giraldo and Pilar...they afforded the proper amount of privacy and attentiveness at check in and a few times during our stay. We loved Giraldo's tour. In his own car, of San Jose and a local farmers market. He was so kind also to offer a few travel tips. This was a very good value, and perfect for our family of four. We loved our stay!

Nice place clean and good location

Pilar’s apartment is located in a quiet, well-lit, conveniently located residential area in San Pedro, San Jose. My sons and I never had to wait more than three minutes for an Uber car to arrive, and we were in walking distance of the Avenida Central and Mall San Pedro, as well as a good number of reasonably priced places to eat in the University area. We never felt unsafe walking back to the apartment in the evening. Pilar and her husband, Gerardo, were extremely accommodating as hosts. Our first morning in San Jose, Gerardo drove us in his car to an area near the University and then gave us a walking tour of the surrounding area. He recommended a great place for a typical breakfast and then spent a considerable amount of his morning helping us to buy and install a SIM card for our cell phone. The apartment itself is on the second floor and is secured with both a solid metal door and a barred gate, both of which contributed to an overall feeling of security. The apartment was immaculately clean and comfortable, with a well-stocked kitchen, a TV with a Netflix subscription, and an abundance of conveniences such as towels, robes, slippers, and laundry soap. There was a plentiful supply of hot water with good water pressure, a washer and dryer within the apartment, and a pleasant little second-story patio with plants that can be a good place to sit and catch a cool breeze. My 12- and 13-year old sons loved their stay there and were even given a treat as a parting gift. This is a great place to stay and will be our first choice when we return.

This is a very comfortable place to stay on a visit to the San José area--the patio area was beautiful. Pilar and Gerardo helped us to arrange a great day trip to Irazú volcano, and it was easy to communicate with them and their son. I would recommend it for a nice calm place to come home to.

A really great apartment for a stay in San Jose. It’s well designed and has many thoughtful touches to make it it extremely comfortable (lots of fluffy white bath towels, bathrobes, coffee, tea and wine, quality linen and pillows). We loved hanging out on the colourful terrace! The hosts went out of their way to be helpful and make us welcome which was really appreciated. Highly recommended !

Absolutely wonderful hosts! Spoke enough English to help us out, a great binder of surrounding stores, Tips, maps etc. Such a cute and clean space, loved the terrace. Pilar added wonderful touches, we were there over Valentines Day and she had flowers out, as well as snacks and a little wine. Ended our trip in absolute comfort. Lots of pillows, towels and bedding. Kitchen utensils and all the things needed if you want to buy food. Absolutely 5-star Air BNB

This place is fantastic. Pilar and her husband went out of their way to make sure we felt at home and had everything we needed during our stay. The place is very comfortable, secure, and is in a quiet neighborhood close enough to the city that you’ll only be a few minutes’ ride away from anything and everything in San Jose. We had originally booked only two nights, but loved the place so much that we ended up extending our stay here for almost a week. Next time we’re in San Jose we will definitely stay here again.
