This is a large and beautiful colonial home and we really enjoyed our stay. It’s in a wonderful neighborhood - quiet, but you can still walk to a large grocery store and lots of great restaurants. And you are a short cab ride away from the center. The backyard is beautiful. The house overall is spacious and comfortable and has everything you could think of. Maria Elena is a very friendly, warm, kind, helpful and communicative host.

Maria Elena welcomed us warmly and gave us great advice. She responds very quickly. Her house is beautiful and traditional of Oaxaca. Very spacious.

excellent family time

This is the second time we have stayed in this house, which is not an Airbnb purpose built house, but someone’s personal home. The space is very large both inside and out, and we returned because it is perfect for three generations of grandparents, parents and two young children. They loved the backyard and the pool, and the many indoor spaces. The pictures do not do justice to the size of the space. And you are very near many small restaurants, as well as a large Walmart type supercenter with many American foods, if that is of interest to you. This is among the finest place we have stayed and we could not have asked more from Maria Elena the host, remembering that this is her own home. Highly recommend.

Located in a quiet, leafy, safe, part of Oaxaca, the property provided everything needed for an exceptional stay. The property provides an abundance of space, has an elegant charm, whilst still feeling homely and inviting. Despite some communication difficulties (language barrier), Maria was a kind and gracious host. Maria took the time to explain everything well, answered any questions we had and kindly drove us to another part of Oaxaca upon checking out. Highly recommended if you’re ever visiting Oaxaca.

Casa Colonial is a beautiful house with lots of great spaces to rest and read. The garden is spectacular and the location is great. Peaceful but still close to the Oaxaca centre. A great place and we definitely recommend it!

She’s one of a king , Maria Elena. As a family of four , it was so spacious to make us have our own space. The pool was a treat to use after a very hot day out. The kitchen was so well appointed and easy to use. Very peaceful . Many bathrooms to use. Thoroughly recommend. We hope to be back. I wish Maria Elena great health and success with her airbnb

Señora Maria Elena was a wonderful hostess who was very responsive and kind to me and the guests staying at her beautiful home. She even got me a birthday cake and made sure our checkout was super smooth! The house is in a very leafy and safe and quiet neighborhood so you do need to plan taxis to get to the Centro of Oaxaca City or plan a 35 to 40 minute safe walk.

Maria is a gem! This is one of the nicest Airbnbs we’ve stayed in. It’s in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood with no shortage of food or taxis. I would definitely stay here again.

100% best Airbnb experience in Oaxaca. Private, well-appointed, regal… this house was an absolute oasis for our girls trip. Quick cab access to the centro for activities, yet it felt removed and private and peaceful. 10/10 would stay here again.

Maria Elena was a gracious and attentive host. We had a wonderful stay in the beautiful casa colonial Oaxaca. The home was incredible and impeccably clean. Maria Elena made our stay so nice and even had special Oaxaca treats for us!

We absolutely loved this colonial villa! There was plenty of space for our party of 6 which included two preschoolers. The interior is remarkable with fabulous brickwork, wall paintings and an easy kitchen to work in. The pool had a shallow end about 2 feet deep and a deeper portion which stepped off to about 4 feet (the long arm of the L shape). It is located in a very nice neighborhood. There is a large department store about two blocks away with groceries, beverages, household supplies and other items. Also several restaurants were in easy walking distance. Maria Elena, our host, was extremely helpful and attentive. We can't say enough good things about her caring and friendly nature. She was very sweet to the little ones and gave us lots of useful information. Highly recommend this special place!

Maria Elena is one of the loveliest people we’ve had the pleasure of meeting while travelling. And her home is somehow even nicer in person than in the photos. Staying at their big, beautiful, comfortable casa is a rare privilege for which we are grateful beyond words. Stayed with my wife and my brothers and their wives for two nights for the Day of the Dead festival. Wonderful location—peaceful, but close enough to the city centre that it was never inconvenient to get where we wanted to be.

The house and experience were perfect! Quiet and relaxing location, but still close to city center. Taxis were very easy to find if we didn’t want to walk. Maria is so helpful and kind! Highly recommend!

My family of four met my parents at Maria Elena's house for a 10-day stay in Oaxaca and we were so happy with everything about the house. We loved the house, it's spacious while still being homey and was a wonderful respite from all of our explorations in town and to neighboring towns. We had great weather and took many of our meals out on the porch and often relaxed by the pool. Maria Elena was a gracious host and made the trip a pleasure by being so helpful with our questions and concerns. We were also surprised that Maria Elena provided cleaning service daily which was amazing! I highly recommend this house for future families interested in a great location, great house and amazing host!

This home is located just North of the city center on a quiet street in the Reforma neighborhood. We found it to be an oasis and great escape from the noise and busy city. There are a few restaurants and cafes in walking distance. We rented a car but taxis are easily obtained at the end of the street. The house itself is beautiful, warm and very comfortable. The back yard is large and feels like having your own park. Maria Elena made everything easy and was a grand host. She even offered to take us to the airport when our car looked like it wouldn’t fit everything. I highly recommend staying here.
