Ann-Marie, her husband, Mima & her house are all AMAZING! What a lucky find! We had the pleasure of staying here for a month-long trip w/ our three young kiddos and this house, this location, all of it was perfect. Everything is walkable. There are two plazas very close by that the kids played soccer at almost daily. The markets are very close by. As well as all museums are walkable. If there ever any questions or issues, Ann-Marie was super responsive and helpful. She really made sure that our immediate needs were met: great kitchen set up, super clean house, drinking water, drinking water on the top floor, reliable internet, & an amazing space with views! Mima was incredible at keeping the space so clean that no bugs were ever seen, & she even was able to help us with laundry during our long stay. I cannot say enough how amazing this house is - pictures do not do it justice. Incredible views and Ann-Marie and Mima truly make this place special. We hope to visit again next year!

The house is in an excellent location. We parked the truck during the days we were there. We walked everywhere. It is spacious and we really enjoyed the rooftop, our mornings in the kitchen, and the family time. It has several levels with lots of stairs and does not have A/C, but there are fans. A very nice host!!

The location is absolutely excellent—you can walk to all the famous attractions. The room is decorated in a fun and tasteful style, and our whole family loved this place. It’s filled with a dazzling array of artworks and comes with convenient facilities; there’s absolutely nothing to fault. Anne is a very warm and responsive host. She provided us with lots of useful information before our arrival, and solved any problems we had extremely quickly once we got there. Highly recommended to everyone, and we will definitely choose to stay here again on our next visit.

Absolutely beautiful airbnb! There were so many interesting furnishings and decor items throughout the house, it almost felt like a cool museum! Lorena met us at arrival and she explained everything clearly. She also gave great recommendations for local restaurants and things to do. Whoever set up the house clearly thought about what travelers need - there were power outlets easily accessible on each side of the bed. There was purified water available in the kitchen and upstairs by the bedrooms. There was a secure parking garage just around the corner from the house. The only issue was the shower situation. Lorena explained it to us clearly, but no matter what we tried, we couldn’t get the shower to consistently work. Sometimes it was warm, sometimes it was hot, sometimes it was cold. It would often turn off and on repeatedly like red light green light. Something must have been going on with the water pressure. Overall, still an amazing airbnb and would still recommend!

Vehicle access can be tricky, but once you are settled in, the location is fantastic for getting around on foot! It’s a lovely home in a great location. My family and I enjoyed wandering through the spaces and looking at all of the art.

Anne-Marie's place is enchanting with a full-on Mexican aesthetic. We were a party of six, two couples and two kids. We all had our own large bedroom that opened to a beautiful outdoor courtyard. We appreciated having multiple rooms that were large enough to accommodate all of us, with additional rooms available that let us have alone time. The dining room and kitchen tables are large and accommodate all of us. You are never bored while you are in the house. The house is filled with so many fun and fascinating artifacts. We had a tortilla maker right across the street where you can buy your fresh tortillas for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A little market is a two-minute walk from the house. The house is perfectly located in the center of the city. We were able to walk to all the points of interest. The city is busy and loud. Once inside Anne-Marie's house, the chaos was gone, and you had peace. The house was perfectly clean and well stocked with all the necessities. Fun place to stay.

Words can’t capture the magic of this place. If you’re able to stay here, do it. It’s fantastic!

The home is incredibly spacious and was perfect for my family. The location is ideal, within walking distance of the city center, restaurants, and more. Anne-Marie and her team were fantastic hosts, ensuring we were well taken care of and offering great help throughout our stay. We really enjoyed the home, though the décor was a bit unique, and some of my kids found it a little unsettling. There are several masks and devil-like figures that might be off-putting for some guests. Overall, it's a great place to stay!

Staying at Anne-Marie during our wedding weekend in Guanajuato was absolutely magical. From the moment we arrived, we were in awe of the beauty and charm of this home. It was the perfect home base to return to after celebrating with our loved ones—peaceful, cozy, and filled with character. The hospitality made our stay even more special. The daily housekeeper, Mima, and house manager, Lorena, were so kind and friendly, always making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Their warmth and attentiveness truly made us feel at home. Every detail of the space made our stay even more special, and we are so grateful to have had the opportunity to experience it. Such an incredible space. Huge, eclectic, comfortable and filled with art and artifacts. Tons of space, close to everything, immaculately clean. Lots of natural light and some indoor / outdoor elements that were breezy and beautiful. Highly recommend.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beautiful house! The place was immaculately clean and the patio and view from the patio were simply wonderful. Every day, we discovered new and delightful pieces around the house that added to its charm. The host was responsive and helpful, even assisting us in arranging private transportation, which made our trip even more convenient. Phenomenal - really one of the best airbnb's I have stayed at. This was a multi generational family gathering and we all thoroughly enjoyed the clean, spacious, whimsical and colorful decor. The location of the space was fantastic it was not right in the middle hustle and bustle of the bigger streets but certainly steps to it if you wanted to head over to the Mercado Hidalgo and other busy tourist streets. Alternatively you could head in the other direction and find many lovely little restaurants, bars, cafes and galleries. One of the small treats I had not realized when I booked is that there is a beautiful rooftop terrace with table and chairs to enjoy morning coffee or a nice sunset cocktail. Anne-Marie (the owner) was super responsive, and thankfully flexible since we were working with early flights in and late flights out. We will gladly return again.

This place is full of delights, a little like staying in an eclectic museum. The balcony may be the best part of all. Location couldn’t be better. High enough for great views, but still very walkable. Great value, you’ll love it here!

Just a beautiful home in a beautiful city. We were so fortunate to stay there.

The listing says 'Classy', but I must add 'jaw-dropping' to that. Everywhere you look, there's something to see, from the tile, art, rooftop, courtyard, incredible collections, amazing kitchen...it just doesn't stop with the wonder. We visited during a hot spell (high 80's) and the rooms were very, very warm, with little air circulation, so throw in that portable fan if you land in GTO during a heat wave. The rooftop was a favorite place in the morning, watching and listening to Guanajuato come to life, just like the nighttime, with all the twinkling lights. Don't miss the opportunity to have Mima cook for you - she made the most amazing feast for our birthday celebration (you'll be sorry if you don't order her papas). The kitchen table was a gathering spot when we weren't feeling fancy in the sala, where the double doors overlook the street activity, but noise was never an issue. Without a doubt, this is THE La Casa de la Risa!

Like many of the reviews say - this house is indeed like an art gallery. Filled with an abundance of Mexican Artesanías, it definitely stands apart from other stays. That being said, the decoration includes several old puppets and figurines, which can be an unexpected sight when walking around the house, particularly at night. (We were a group of five: 3 of us loved it, and 2 not so much.) But the overall impression of the house is fantastic. The terrace is unmatched, the small covered patio on the third floor is incredible for cooling off on hot afternoons, and all of us were comfortably housed in the 3 available bedrooms. The kitchen is well stocked for anything you might need and the spacious living room with plenty natural light was frequently used by us. We have zero complaints regarding the house and we very much loved our stay! (This includes even the members of our party who got initially spooked :-) ) Thank you Anne-Marie and Lorena; and best of luck to you both!

We had a group of 6 and we all loved it from walking through the front doors, to the top floor views of the city breath taking ❤️ This home is what I consider an iconic Mexican home. Very well designed, this home has every detail imaginable. Guanajuato is a beautiful city the festive town did not disappoint. Home was in a perfect location of downtown.

It's a beautiful house, just as it was shown in the listing , with an amazing view and location. Lorena is an excellent guide , we knew Guanajuato , but she showed us with her knowledge, a different and amazing face of the city . Without hesitation, I would return to this lodge.

Very unique house with great art and colors all over. We stayed for almost 2 weeks and Mina and Lorena were very helpful. We loved spending time in the patio and the living room. From the balcony you can hear and see the Callejonadas pass by singing Cielito Lindo. The upper patio gives you one of the best views of Guanajuato. The location is great as well. The home is next to La Alhondiga, El Mercado, and down the street from art spaces and some of the best restaurants in Guanajuato. Not a far walk to the main plaza or University as well. My small kids enjoyed the home too - we just had to keep an eye on them on the stairs. We hope to come back next year!

We love the location and the house was very comfortable. Our host was very kind and accommodating. We loved the neighborhood and all the food and entertainment options were just a few steps away.

Large comfortable beds. 3 loos which made life easier with 6 people vying for bathroom space first thing in the morning. Roof terrace with amazing views the ancient town Guanajuato. Superb location.

I will treasure my time at Anne-Marie’s place forever. I felt lucky to stay there. It was so amazingly beautiful. Every day I would discover something delightful that I had not noticed before and I stayed there a month! We loved sitting on the rooftop watching hummingbirds or the sunset or the views. The house was in a great location where we could walk to restaurants and interesting places. The housekeeper Mima cooked for us several times and the meals were delicious. And Anne-Marie was a lovely and helpful host. It was my best Airbnb experience ever.

The pictures definitely do not do Anne-Marie's listing justice!!! It is aesthetically pleasing to live in the little house. The decorations are thoughtful, colorful, and definitely full of world culture. (not just Mexican) It also has a very cute roof top where our group had lunch with amazing views. The town is very walkable from where we live, everything is literally within 5-10 minutes of walk. Some bars are outside of our little house but they close down around 11pm everyday. Everything is super clean and cute.

We loved staying at Anne-Marie's home! Close to the center of town. The neighborhood had some great restaurants along Calle Positos. And of course, Diego Rivera's Museum was down the street from us. A store and bakery nearby, too. Loved the art that was everywhere in the house. The bedrooms were large and comfortable. We loved the open area outside the bedrooms. The terrace on the roof was a great place to read and get a beautiful view of Guanajuato. Mima, the housekeeper was amazing! She keeps that large home clean and tidy! Thank you Lorena for your assistance during our arrival and during our stay. Highly recommend this beautiful home!! If I return to Guanajuato I would stay here again!

The pictures don’t do this magical house justice! When we arrived we were given a tour of 3 floors of fabulousness and a spacious rooftop deck overlooking the city. Every inch of this house is decorated with memories from the owners travels. The rooms are big and the beds softer than mine at home! The dining room and living room areas are huge and full of character! Plus, you cannot beat the location, it’s central to everything!!! We enjoyed our time here and will no doubt return, sooner rather than later.

Amazing stay, everything we needed to stay in and no need for a car. Everything from popular tourist sites, fantastic food, entertainment and more was walking distance. A great few of thr city and at night if you want to hear the town leave the bedroom door open otherwise enjoy tranquility. It was a great stay and pics dont do it enough justice !

Anne-Marie is an amazing person!!!! There was an event in the area that would have made it difficult to enjoy our stay. It was an unpredictable, temporary issue that was not within her control. She contacted us to tell us the day before (we hadn’t heard yet) and we were able to rearrange our travel plans. We will visit GTO when things are back to normal. Many hosts wouldn’t have alerted us in advance, it was the act of a truly kind person.I just love her openness, she really wants to share her love of the city and make her guests experience all it can be. Can’t wait to stay in this beautiful home and explore this intriguing city.

A quirky and colorful house in the heart of the vibrant Guanajuato. Amazing, eclectic and one of a kind whole house, full of arty travel souvenirs from India and Mexico, with the most beautiful roof top terrace to admire the city views from sunrise to sunset. Ideally located in city center. Great and very responsive local team. We used the maid Mima for a nice home cooked meal so we could enjoy it on our own roof top. Perfect destination.

This was one of my favorite Airbnb experiences. We've done quite a few. The house is beautiful, in a great location, well maintained, clean and very very spacious. You can easily sleep 6, and more if you want to use couches! There is so much space for everyone. We stayed for a month and worked remotely. The WiFi was strong on the 2nd floor, decent on the third floor, but did not function on the terrace (which was fine as there are ample work spaces on the other 2 floors. The speed was fine for two or even three people doing video meetings, etc. Mima was wonderful. She would stop by to clean things up (which was the Airbnb owner's preference) three times per week. She offers to cook and we took her up on it once per week. She made fantastic food. The beds were comfortable, the linens were very nice quality, good blankets for the cooler nights. The water pressure was great and we never ran out of hot water. The owner provides and pays for drinking water, and paper products. The kitchen is amazingly well stocked for cooking, baking, whatever. There is no lack of dishes/silverware/kitchen gadgets. The location is fantastic, a quiet street, few steps to a great fruit market and just a bit further to the central market and a giant supermarket. What a great stay! We will absolutely return and would recommend to any of our friends families or review readers! Just great.

This place is what we called a proper hidden gem. It's a state-of-the-art house, so a part of the great location, staying at the property is like sleeping in an art gallery. Really recommend to anyone who is keen to have a proper experiencein Guanajuato.

What a fantastic place to stay! Very centrally located for visiting the old town, the home bursts with color and art from Mexico and India. The lush landscaping makes the outdoor spaces feel very exotic. The water filtration system and modern appliances made everyday life at home a breeze. You will not regret staying here.

Wow wow wow!!!! Anne-Marie’s home is truly perfection. She is a super host!! She answered all of our questions prior to arriving in Guanajuato and was always super responsive and helpful! Upon arrival, we were greeted by Lorena the house manager. Lorena welcomed us into the home and gave us a tour and made sure we felt settled in and taken care of. The house is absolutely stunning. A work of art. The views, the location…everything is perfect. Mima cleaned and cooked for us and we love her so much!! If you are looking for a delicious home cooked meal, make sure you ask her if she can cook for you… you don’t want to miss that. We will definitely be back!!!

Beautiful house with its own style worthy of the area. In La zona you find everything without using the car. Only I would miss parking in my opinion. But everything else was beautiful, a place I would visit again.

This is one of the finest places I have ever stayed. The interior architecture and design elements of the house are fantastic; it feels like being in a private museum. Every sink and light fixture is beautiful. The kitchen is very well stocked (orange juicer, blender, many dishes, gas stove, etc.), and the rooftop terrace was my favorite place to eat and look out on the city. The only downside is that the street is somewhat noisy with club music and dogs from a couple doors away, but that noise is par for the course in my experience with Mexican cities.

This was an colorful, comfortable, art-filled home that made our stay in Guanajuato extra special. Amazing spaces and attention to detail. Excellent location. Highly recommended!

Such a traditional Mexican home! Staying here enhances the culture you experience in Guanajuato. I wished we stayed 1 or 2 days more. Beds are super comfy, place is huge, beautiful setting, very secure, and close to all the sights. Highly recommend!

Our four day Thanksgiving stay was like a deep dive into Magic Realism through Mexican (and Indian) crafts, artwork, and architecture. No expense had been spared with furnishings, design elements, and creature comforts. Nicely located amidst markets, cafes, and mezcal spots, nothing is lacking. Warmly greeted by apartment manager Lenora and blessed with daily cleaning services from Mima, all was perfectly provided for. For multigenerational gatherings such as ours, the grand and cozy (both) gathering spaces were a special treat. Yes, the pictures are splendidly accurate!

It’s like being in a Mexican folk art shrine...in the heart of Guanajuato. Hands down a really cool eclectic place to stay, and the town is a don’t miss in Mexico experience. Thank you Anne Marie for creating the space and sharing!

I can not say enough good things about our experience at Anne-Marie’s home. It’s absolutely beautiful. The rooms are spacious and clean. The rooftop is impeccable. The house manager, Lorena, was so sweet and quick to respond. The location couldn’t be any better. Great coffee and tortillas right across the street. It’s very close to el centro but far enough to explore the beautiful streets of GTO.

Anne-Marie’s home is in a great location yet one would never know how large, bright and beautiful the inside is just walking past the outside - it’s a hidden gem in the middle of it all. The colors inside are so vibrant and you can tell the art pieces took time and passion to source. Lorena does an in person check-in which was much appreciated - she’s quite knowledgeable of the area and got us very excited to explore. It was a real treat to get to spend time in the unique home. We really enjoyed the rooftop views - excellent for sunset! Definitely recommend staying here!

One feels as if they are entering another treasure filled world. The furnishings and appointments were incredible. The decor and collections enhanced the atmosphere. Once inside the red doors, you fell insulated from the street. This house is in a great location. The local staff is very helpful & available at all times.

This is an amazing house just located at the very good place. It is near the biggest market in Guanajuato, very convient to buy travel gifts or other living stuffs. It is very quiet because it is not at the center of bars and restaurants. But it just takes 10 minutes for you to get to the center part of Guanajuato. This is a three-floor house with a big platform which you can see almost the whole town . We had our meals on the platform every nights with all the lights around you, really awesome. This is really a perfect house for a 5-10 persons group to spend the weekend. Only the parking could be a little problem, you need to park your cars to a parking garage nearby and it is a little expensive. I spent 800 pesos for that.

Not only is this a great location, it is a folk art museum you get to experience as part of the deal. Good restaurants are close, the market is just down the hill, Lorena the manager is also a tour guide, and Mima the maid is also available to cook. What a splendid house and memorable stay.

This hose is terrific. It does have character and a superb location. Very nice rooftop terrace. The only issue I found to be inaccurate from the description is that all the bathrooms are outside the rooms across from a partially covered patio. In our case we had a rainy night so it was quite unpleasant to leave warmth of your bed to a wet outside to use the bathroom. The host was terrific and very helpful.

I absolutely love staying in Anne Marie’s house! This is my 3rd time staying at her home within the last year. The home is spacious and beautiful, and the location is perfect! I’ve stayed with both family and friends on different occasions. Anne Marie, Lorena and Mimma are amazing hosts! They provide so much great information prior and during our stay so that we can take advantage of every minute of this beautiful city. The home is located in a safe and friendly neighborhood. There are many shops, markets, museums and restaurants 1-4 minutes walking distance of the house. I highly recommend staying in Anne Marie’s house!

Great communication and incredibly accommodating

This is a beautiful home. The colors and decoration are outstanding. The location was perfect for walking everywhere. It had all the amenities we needed. Anne-Marie and Lorena were excellent to work with. I wish we would have had time to do a tour with Lorena.

The house is extraordinary, with incredible details and spectacular décor. The location is unbeatable. From the terrace, you have a spectacular view of Guanajuato, and from the balcony, you can see the student parades passing through the narrow streets. We went during Easter Week, and right in front of the house, the Procession of Silence passed by, which we watched from the balcony—it was like being in a box seat! To balance a little, if you go in Easter or on a very busy date, and you go by car, parking is a problem, since the parking lots in the center are full and it's difficult

The house was wonderful for the five of us (2 adults, 3 kids). It’s location was wonderful, the rooftop terrace delightful, and we can’t say enough about the quick, clear, and thorough communication. Mima made us 3 delicious meals and we would encourage anyone to take advantage of her from scratch culinary skills. We’ll be back!

It is a colorful, extremely Mexican house, all of us are amazed by it, it is easy to walk from the house to any part of the town, the parking lot is also very close, the location of the house is good, with a bird 's-eye view of the town on the roof and the town night view at night, well worth it again.
