The views were lovely and as pictured; the home itself left something to be desired. Unkempt and outdated, does not warrant the ~$200/night price tag. We awoke the first night with large red ants running across our faces and bodies in the master bedroom and had to sleep in the guest room for the remainder of the trip. The host was not accommodating in issuing a partial refund; however, Airbnb was. If the house had a revamp and was properly cared for it would have been a much better stay. Overall, not an experience I’d like to repeat.
Host Response
This review is in total contrast with our feedback from other guests and our reviews on a Home Exchange website which we use. We take this review as a deep offence to ourselves as owners and on behalf of our cleaning team who thoroughly clean the house on a weekly basis to a very high standard. The house is sprayed externally regularly but because of the nature of Nicaragua occasionally ants find their way in. On hearing of the guests' disturbances our cleaner went round immediately. She couldn't see any ants but offered to use an insect spray to deter them. However the guests refused. We also offered to refund the first night's stay and a full refund if they wanted to leave immediately. It seems they wanted to stay and were looking solely for a discount. Most disappointing.

This house is a little piece of paradise! Perched above Playa Maderas, it offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and its stunning sunsets. We had unforgettable moments enjoying drinks on the spacious outdoor terrace while watching the sun sink below the horizon. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and as remote workers, we especially appreciated the dedicated desk areas and reliable, high-speed Wi-Fi. We loved taking long walks on the beach, swimming in the ocean, and surfing at Playa Maderas, just a few minutes from the house, where there’s a peaceful atmosphere, along with a handful of rustic bars and cafés. The house is well-equipped for cooking meals, and having a nearby restaurant and bar with an infinity pool was an added bonus to our stay.
