This home is beautiful, comfortable, well equipped and perfectly maintained. Perfect for three couples. We each had our own space, and many common spaces to enjoy on our own or with each other. Housekeeper Maria Luisa is great. Comfy furniture, beds, with artwork and amazing plants as a plus. All bedrooms have great closets and other storage. Jay is a great communicator.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay in Casa Cielo! and would most definitely make a future booking on a return trip to San Miguel. The home oozed magic and rejuvenated our souls. It was equipped with all the necessary creature comforts we could have needed and more. The succulents and plants made us feel like we were in a botanical garden. The beds, sheets and towels were nice which is always a plus and the home is perfectly clean. Maria Luisa the housekeeper did such a wonderful job and was so very pleasant and attentive. The house is in a fantastic location and an easy walk into the center of town with restaurants and coffee shops readily available nearby. We are always sad to leave San Miguel and this time it was especially hard leaving this lovely home. We hope to be back very soon. Thanks again Jay for the wonderful stay.

If you have the opportunity to book this house, do not hesitate. It is Magical! Photos do not do it justice. It is serene, beautiful, quiet, artistic and verdant. It feels as if you’ve walked into a Carlos Fuentes novel. The layout of the house is spacious and private. The kitchen is well appointed and spacious. The hosts are very responsive. Their binder of curated information is a must read and will set you up for an amazing stay in San Miguel. Maria Luisa is luminous gem. The art and furnishings throughout the house are warm and colorful. As a Landscaper and Horticulturalist, I was not expecting such a high level of care and interest in the garden. The rooftop is beyond words and can only be experienced. Houses like this do not exist on Airbnb.

We loved our 1st visit to SMA, and this place truly plussed our overall experience. It’s very beautiful . . . the entire place. . . . with a rooftop that is inspiring. We walked into the Centro every day and then would Taxi back. Easy peasy. Housekeeper Maria Luisa is a jewel and comes 3 times a week as part of the deal. Will be back.

Jay was a wonderful host—thoughtful and kind and generous, and his home is just beautiful. When we first arrived I got a little weepy it was just so pretty. Courtyard bursting with plants and vines, elegant fountain, lovely rooms, charming kitchen and stunning views from the large rooftop garden. Wow! Just high up enough from the Parroquia to allow for the breathtaking views, but not so far you have trouble walking it two or three times a day. Good workout but very doable. Wonderful visit to a wonderful place.

The first word we all uttered upon entering Jay’s place was, wow! Stunning was the second word. The place is laid out with three suites, all with private bathrooms. Two of the suites have desks and private sitting rooms. Each level has a patio surrounded by plants, the ground patio with a fountain. The roof-top patio is gorgeous with spectacular views of the city. Jay’s place won’t disappoint.

We can't say enough about our stay! This colonial house captured the charm of SMA and the location was perfect - close to Jardin Allende, with lots of tiendas, restaurants, and coffee shops all around. The house is absolutely beautiful, well taken care of, and delightfully appointed. There were plenty of comfy spaces throughout the house that allowed for congregation or solitude. The kitchen and dining room were perfect for making meals at "home," the coffee table was perfect for puzzles. The bedrooms were very comfortable, with high quality linens. The outdoor spaces were outstanding, especially the rooftop terrace, which offered a dynamic panorama of SMA and the distant mountains. We enjoyed the lovely weather and sounds of the fountain through open screened windows. Jay was a gracious host, provided detailed information with lots of great suggestions and was always available. Maria Luisa, the house care taker was a joy. We hope to be back! Highly recommended!

We spent 6 weeks at Jay's home in magical San Miguel de Allende. The house is almost too beautiful to describe. It quickly felt like home. Four of our kids stayed with us for a week. With its 3 well-separated suites, we all felt like we were guests at a 5-star hotel. The home is just an 8-min walk to the center of San Miguel, with its main plaza (El Jardín) and grand cathedral (La Parroquia). There are more than 100 great restaurants within walking distance. San Miguel probably has the most exquisite concentration of outstanding & beautiful restaurants of any city we've ever visited. Although close to the city center, Jay's home is high enough up a hill that the panoramic view from the rooftop terrace is mesmerizing, especially at night. Housekeeper Maria Luisa is a joy. She attends to the home for 6 hrs/day, 3 days a week. She's also the gardener, as there are 100's of lush, beautiful plants that need ongoing attention. In summary, we had a great experience. Highly recommended!

This an incredible place. The attention to detail is amazing; like staying in a museum. Our host was always checking with us. Great location with a beautiful view from the top. Close to restaurants with maybe a 10 minute walk to the Central. We highly recommend this place and host.

Jay is a wonderful, responsive host with clear and easy to follow instructions and his place is even more beautiful than the pictures. Watching the sun set from the rooftop with the incredible view of the Centro was one of our great and regular pleasures while in SMA. The kitchen was well stocked for the many meals we cooked during our two weeks there, and it was fabulous having a full-house water filtration system. Completely private space with three wonderful suites. Maria Luisa, the housekeeper, kept the place spotless and was very sweet. Couldn't recommend Jay's place more.

A stay at Casa Cielo is a true authentic San Miguel experience. The garden and the roof top are absolutely stunning. We loved all of the gorgeous potted plants and succulents. The location is a short walk to everything you need. Jay was a wonderful and accommodating host.

Four friends stayed at Casa Cielo for the month of May, 2024 and we were so impressed with the house, it was clean, beautiful, comfortable and looks exactly like the photos. The housekeeper, Maria Luiza came three times a week and was a great help in keeping the house clean and tidy. The owner was responsive with all questions before and during our stay and we will be back in the magical town of San Miguel soon and hopefully this beautiful house will be available again. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

What a wonderful place! The location was fabulous - and the view!!! Being uphill from La Parroquia is just perfect. Centro is a short walk. Yes this is up the hill - but it was not an issue at all. We walked half the time and then others simply flagged a cab for the short trip back - usually/only when we had lots to carry. Plenty of restaurants - more than plenty, actually. I was disappointed to find the cute little bar - La Mantania on our last day just steps away. It would have been my favorites spot the whole stay if I would have stopped in earlier! Such a great little cantina! I fully recommend Jay's place. Each room was MORE than spacious. The kitchen was well equipped and I can't think of a single thing we needed that wasn't provided. Did I mention the view? Incredible.
Host Response
Thanks for your kind words, Jerry. We love sharing our home with people who love it! We affectionately call "Ell Manantial" our "local dive bar," but it is a really wonderful place, with great seafood tacos and renowned ginger margaritas, all a block from our door.

What a great place! Looking exactly like the pictures, Casa Cielo is charming, well-appointed, comfortable and clean. In a great location, there are many areas for lounging and the rooftop can't be beat. Communication with the owner and property managers was excellent! Both were responsive and informative. If you are looking for place that is authentically Mexican, well-located and feels homey, this is your place!

Jay's home is absolutely beautiful. We were 3 women staying and felt very comfortable. The views are stunning and I can't say enough about how beautiful his home is. The short road up to the home is a little steep but given we are all in our 70's it wasn't a problem.

My family (5 adults) really enjoyed our stay at Jay's in San Miguel. The space is perfect for adult children with each of the 3 bedrooms as an ensuite and a sitting room. The shared kitchen, dining, and living spaces were large enough to accommodate all of the group. LOVED the rooftop, its a must in San Miguel. The fireplaces in every room were great to keep us cozy on the brisk nights. Kitchen has all the amenities for meal prep. And a few basics such as oil, spices. It's a fairly quick walk into the town center - maybe 5-7 minutes. loads of shops to be found and lots of charming streets to explore. Be aware, that hill to the door is not a hop skip and a jump for the oldest adults. The young adults fared easier! But it certainly worked off any extra desserts. I appreciated the suggestion of the Botanical Gardens. I didnt know it was there as was lovely to explore/easy hike. Also, the Fabrica la Aurora is a wonderful artists enclave. Totally worth the trip!

We LOVED this place. It really was better than the photos gave credit for! So close to the heart of the city, easy to walk to restaurants and the main jardin. The management company and the owner were both incredibly responsive and helpful. The house itself was a delightful place to be when we weren't in town, with multiple seating areas and places to enjoy the courtyard garden, rooftop views, and a lovely living room as well. Excellent instructions and house manual with great recommendations and info about San Miguel. Internet in the house was great, appliances were new and worked well. We took advantage of the pre-trip grocery shopping offered to us by the management company for an additional fee which was extremely helpful since we got in later than expected. Soft goods were clean and we had everything we needed all the time. Couldn't have been a better AirB&B experience!! Thank you. If we return, we'll attempt to book here first!

Jay’s house is just lovely. The location, architecture, decor and garden all come together to make you feel like you are immersed in San Miguel de Allende in the best way. I stayed there for one week with my husband, 12 year-old son and my 82 year-old parents. The house is very clean and well-maintained. Maria Luisa is very nice and helpful. The house has a really good vibe all over - several nice, comfy lounge areas perfect for a cocktail and chat or a quiet read. The beds are all comfortable with quality linens. The kitchen has all the essentials you need. The gardens and the FABULOUS top patio are to die for. Fantastic view surrounded by beautiful plants. The house is definitely on a steep hill. But it is a very short walk down to the center of town. My parents were able to walk down to the center and took inexpensive and plentiful taxis back up to the house. Basically, we all fell in love with Jay's house and want to go back ASAP!

Jay's home and hospitality far exceeded our expectations. From his communication and suggestions prior to arrival to the cleanliness, convenience and beauty, we could not ask for a better experience. When we booked the home, we had no idea that it was one of the more sought after streets in San Miguel. We even saw a painting at an art studio with the view outside the doorway. A friend gave us a walking route to see the best views in town. When we reviewed the route after arriving, we started chuckling because he listed our street in his recommended loop. The entire home is gorgeous, a true piece of art in its own right! Everywhere you look, there is something unique and pleasing to take in. Our favorite place was the rooftop patio, where we spent most of our time. We couldn't get enough of it and felt guilty for not indulging more in the inside spaces, as they were truly top notch. Thanks for making our first trip to San Miguel de Allende a memory of a lifetime!

This home was just beautiful. The views are excellent. it was large enough and quiet enough for everyone to do as they pleased and not bother anyone. Two of the four of us worked days remotely and it was a great setting. The rooftop was our favorite spot and every day were were up there for happy hour. Pros: ideally located for walking to El Centro (4 or 5 blocks, all downhill) and all restaurants we ate at. temperature of the house was always cool. we slept with windows open and fan going and used light blankets. great sleeping !! neighborhood was mostly quiet considering it was Santa de Samana. Cons: the street outside is very steep. we only walked up it a couple of times. we walked to restaurants, taxied home ($3 to $5). lots of steps in this house. my wife uses a cane so going to rooftop or 2nd floor bedroom was a challenge. However, after 10 days of steps at the house and walking streets of SMA, we were feeling in great shape we highly recommend staying here !!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jay’s home in San Miguel de Allende. The home is beautifully furnished, very authentic feel to the home, nice separation between bedrooms, and a spectacular view terrace on the roof. The cleaning person was very thorough and helpful. We had one incident (we accidentally locked ourselves out on a Saturday night) and the management company had someone come by and unlock the door within a few minutes - amazing service. As Airbnb owners ourselves, we were impressed with Jay and his attention to detail.

The pictures and descriptions really don't do justice to this place. It is beautifully curated and lovingly maintained. If you are looking for a Colonial-style place close to everything and filled with charm and stunning views, this is it. The host instructions are very clear and easy, and we had a fantastic time. Wow!

Jay's house is spectacular in every way. The incredible view from the terrace; the gracious public spaces; very comfortable beds in beautifully designed bedrooms; well-appointed kitchen and beautiful folk art everywhere. Maria Luisa, the housekeeper, keeps the place very clean, and the many plants in beautiful condition. It's a perfect place to chill after a long day of exploring San Miguel. One has to be fit enough to climb back up the steep hill to get to the house, sometimes several times a day --but it gives one great aerobic conditioning in the process! Jay was great at keeping in touch, answering questions and providing suggestions for where to eat and visit in the area. The house manual gave information on everything you'd need to be comfortable, and the many guide books were great reading. This was truly the best rental house we've had yet! Thanks, Jay!

After a nice long stay of 4 months, I can wholeheartedly recommend this home. The photos are accurate but the experience is even more incredible. The house is full of colonial charm, the gardens are beautiful and they make the property an oasis in the heart of San Miguel. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable and there is a wonderful office for working which overlooks the garden. My favorite part of the house though is the rooftop terrace. A huge outdoor space with more beautiful plants and a view over the city and 180 degrees of the desert!!! I spent most days working up there listening to the city and watching the weather sweep across the landscape. Incredible!! Finally, Maria Luisa, the caretaker of the house, will take good care of you. Very sweet and demure, she keeps the home clean and organized. She has grown up in San Miguel and can help you with questions about the city, although speaking Spanish will make that easier. The house is very close to the Centro and the walk uphill when returning is just enough to get the blood moving, enough to get you above the city and provide that incredible view. Rent the house, you won’t be disappointed!

A lovely old colonial home perched high above the city center with views unsurpassed. The home is most comfortable and spacious. You can’t go wrong. And the succulents planted on the patios are gorgeous. One caveat is the hill as you step out the front door. It is steep and very rough with the old cobblestones. You won’t be going anywhere unless you can walk those or call a cab. Uber is in town…wonder of wonders. I mention the hill because you will go down and not be running around the corner to pick things up at OXXO (7 Eleven) or the big markets. You commit to your outing. Saying all of this, I would say you can’t go wrong with this lovely home and certainly not San Miguel de Allende…a favorite city for me.

We have been coming to San Miguel for about 15 years and Jay’s beautiful house on the hill is by far our favorite place we have ever stayed here. Huge and gracious beautiful plantings, it is a house you can see someone cares about deeply. It has everything you need from a well equipped kitchen to comfortable beds. Numerous outdoor spaces to hang out comfortably with a good book or chatting with friends. Can’t recommend this house enough. One caveat…it’s a steep climb uphill and not for someone who would have trouble with that. If you can make it, it’s worth the walk in every way!

We absolutely loved everything about this beautiful home. It is in a great location with magnificent views and an easy walk to the center of town. The house exemplifies all that we love about San Miguel de Allende. This home is comfortable and expansive (many different sitting areas inside and out) and extremely well equipped (they have everything). We didn’t want to leave and will definitely be back.

What a magical place!! We had the best stay at Jay’s place in San Miguel de Allende. I have been traveling to San Miguel for 20 years and this is one of my absolute favorite places I have ever stayed!! The layout of the house is so relaxing and the terraces are beautiful. You have the best view in San Miguel! We all slept so well in the comfortable beds and the water was always hot for showers. Thank you so much to Jay and his wife!! We can’t say enough!!! We loved it and will be back for sure!! One thing to note is that the hill to the house is steep and cobblestoned. Not uncommon in San Miguel. It makes it a quieter street which is nice but hard to walk on. My dad who is 86 was with us and he moved slowly on the hill. But he also loved the accomplishment and still wants to stay there when we go back!! Just bring your walking shoes!! María Luisa the housekeeper came several times while we were there and cleaned the house beautifully. And communication with Jay was excellent for check in and any questions we had as we were booking!! Thank you so much Jay!!! I have always wanted to have a house just like this in San Miguel!! Can’t wait to come back!! <3

This house is perfect. It's very spacious and just steps to the main square, El Jardine. We walked everywhere. We wish our short 3 week stay could look d have been extended for a lifetime.
