The Best Caribbean Beaches

Amanda

Excellent, 2 weeks ago

Extremely clean.

Our stay here was great. The location was so convenient - literally 10 steps from the backyard to the lovely tropical beach. Howler monkeys and sloths right there in the trees above us! We arrived on a busy Saturday and the dirt road in was jam packed with traffic from beach goers. Our GPS got us nearly there, but we had to figure out one final left before we found the well marked driveway gate. Cafe Indigo is walking distance and serves a delicious avocado toast, plus lattes and açaí bowls. So good!

Host Response

Thank you for staying with us! We hope you enjoyed your time in the Caribbean Coast and that you got to experience all of the wildlife :) Looking forward to hosting you some time in the future, you were great guests!

We were looking for a house to spend the weekend with the family, and this was an excellent choice… because of all its amenities and location, we will definitely be back very soon. The hosts are excellent ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Host Response

Thank you so much, Roberto, for your comment! We look forward to welcoming you back to the Caribbean!! They were great guests too :) Recommended!

An excellent stay! The house is very spacious, comfortable and cozy, perfect for enjoying in peace. The service was excellent at all times and we felt very well received. It's an ideal place to disconnect, enjoy the essence of the Caribbean, and have an authentic experience in Puerto Viejo. I would definitely recommend it and would be happy to come back!

Host Response

We really appreciate the nice comment :) We hope to welcome you again in the Caribbean!! Very good guests, recommended!!

We enjoyed our stay at Panorama Verde. A sloth, howler monkeys, toucans, and beautiful frogs greeted us every morning! The house is located in the middle of the forest, very close to Punta Uva and a short drive from Manzanillo. It was our kids' first trip to the Caribbean coast in Costa Rica and they loved it. This was the perfect place to come back after long days exploring the beautiful area. The pool was nice and clean. It would be great if the kitchen appliances were upgraded, but we had everything we needed to prepare breakfast in the morning. Gina and her helpers were always responsive and friendly. We're looking forward to staying here again! Thank you!!!

Beautiful home with just as beautiful yard. Kitchen was well appointed with appliances and utensils but you do need to get cooking oil etc if you plan to cook. Steps from the breach and walking distance to a few restaurants. Easy to get to several locations right up the road. Puerto Viejo was a quick 15m drive. The beach it sits on is stunning and good for boogie boarding or strong swimmers. The amount of wildlife we saw was amazing, including a cute little black cat that would follow us to and from the beach. Home was clean and had bath towels and beach towels. There is also a dryer line at the side of the home that was well appreciated after all the beach trips. Also appreciated the water filter/dispenser right in the home. Hosts were extremely responsive had tons of local recommendations, helped with side by side rental, tour info and private transport. Every question I had during the stay was answered in minutes.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this Airbnb. The home itself was beautiful, well-appointed, and had everything we needed to cook, relax, and feel comfortable throughout our stay. The grounds were just as lovely, with plenty of grass, hammocks to relax in, and a peaceful setting where you can sit outside and enjoy the sounds of birds and nature. But the absolute highlight is the location — you are literally about 20 steps from the beach. It’s hard to ask for anything better, especially because this is arguably one of the best beaches in Costa Rica. A local even told us they consider it the best beach in the country. The hosts and hospitality were also excellent. They were kind, responsive, answered our questions, and even helped us book excursions, which made the trip feel easy and seamless. All in all, this was one of our favorite Airbnb stays. We would absolutely love to come back and stay again. Pura Vida!

The house is very nice, surrounded by nature and with very good amenities. We really enjoyed the space, thank you so much for the excellent service.

Many items were run down, towels, sheets, the hamaca was unusable, the tv control almost unusable, but the worst were the kitchen appliances, we had to ask for other saucepans, I couldn’t believe how old are the ones they offer to their clients, knives, refrigerator, everything was old and almost useless. The rooms were next to each other, so you could here the conversations next door. The house is beautiful, but made of wood, so the doors and windows could not be closed hermetically and insects kept coming in even if we had everything closed. The pros: Gina was nice and helpful, the pool was beautiful and clean and you can see lots of animals early in the morning, you have to look for them with binoculars, but you can watch parrots, monkeys, toucans, etc. I don’t think it’s worth the price though

Beautiful place just steps from Punta Uva public beach! Secure grounds, clean and cool home. Comfy beds, A/C, nice showers. We really enjoyed our stay! We visited Jaguar Rescue Center and Ara Manzanillo (the Green Macaw Rescue Center) both about a 10 minute drive. We made meals at the house and went to Arrecife Bar & Restaurant, just a short walk up the playa. Yum! Every morning we had howler monkeys, macaws, toucans, various songbirds, lizards, iguanas, giant crickets, & crabs. We didn’t see a sloth but other people said there was one on the beach access road. The waves on this beach are rough but we enjoyed swimming and body surfing. Friendly locals. We bought the handmade jewelry and the cold coconuts they were selling up and down the beach. My wife got her hair braided and a massage the first day. They didn’t bother us too much the rest of the time. And the sweet little black cat greeted us and stayed nearby the whole time. The kids loved her.

The best part about this place is the location. It is beautiful. We loved the beach. It was quiet and restful. The beach was significantly busier on Saturday and Sunday but didn't bother us.

This house was well maintained and located but it is managed by a company called "Casas del Caribe", which is a total disaster. First of all, they forced me to carry out communications via text avoiding the Airbnb messaging system, so they could do whatever they want away from Airbnb's supervision. Then, they contacted me on Dec 24th to tell me my house would not be available for check-in on Dec 25th -less than 24-hour notice. They said the owner of the house was staying in it and refused to leave. Since they manage several other properties, they forced me to take another house of much lower quality, without AC, in a different part of town, and gave me no choice. It was either accept what they threw at me or cancel my family X-mas vacation. After spending the first night miserable without AC, I contacted Airbnb and their customer service support team forced them to give me the house I had reserved. Then, they refused to pay the difference and again Airbnb had to step in to help.

This place was a great little house. Right in front of the beach. I just think they should leave extra towel to shower. I had to use the same one over and over, you do shower at least twice a day. Especially if you go to the beach. The beach was dirty, they should at least get someone to clean the area that is in front of the house. Specially when you have all this little dead fishes all over the beach… but overall we did have a great time and I relaxed hearing the waves everyday.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was large and comfortable with very private surroundings. The upstairs bedrooms were spacious and air-conditioned. The downstairs does not have air-conditioning but has several fans that help keep it comfortable. The location is very private, nestled among native flora and fauna. It is in close proximity to beaches, attractions and restaurants but would require transportation (we had a rental vehicle). Be aware that the sounds of wildlife were very much present. Howler monkeys sound off early in the morning but were a joy to spot in the trees during the day. The air is teeming with sounds of wildlife and while it impacted our sleep slightly it was part of the experience of the trip. There were a lot of ants but so long as the place is kept clean (food off counters and floors, etc.) it is not a problem. This was a great respite for this location. The hosts were very kind and communicative. I would recommend this home and would revisit.

Unbelievable location. More wildlife than you would see on a tour. We had howler monkeys and white-faced capuchin, green macaws, toucans, and a paca come through. About 3 minutes to Punta Uva beach, which is amazing, and 15 minutes to downtown Puerto Viejo. The house itself is beautiful and well appointed. Large pool which was great. Says infinity pool, but they didn’t have it full enough to function as an infinity pool while we were there. One note I would make is that the bunk beds are not suitable for children. Top bunks are super high and do not have railings. We had 5 kids in our group and ended up taking two of the mattresses down. Would definitely recommend.

Host Response

Thank you for such nice message, Joseph! We also appreciate the comment regarding the railings on the bunkbeds - this has been shared with the administrator, and this week they were finally added to the beds, so you'll be happy yo find safe bunk beds at your next visit! Pura vida (:

Really lovely bungalow just a few steps from the beach. Check-in was super easy, the place is spacious and nicely decorated, and the direct private access to a beautiful beach can't be beat. The ocean directly outside was a bit rougher (there's some reefs right there) but still fine for our kids to play and jump waves, and it was just a three minute walk to a more sheltered beach on the other side of the point. As others have noted, the kitchen was a bit barebones but we didn't really use it as it's easy to access a variety of nearby restaurants. We were there during the week, so the beach was largely empty - as we left on Saturday it looked like a fair number of people were arriving, so weekends might be a bit more hectic. All in all, a great place to relax in Punta Uva and enjoy the vibe of the area.

The place was in a great and beautiful location. Well maintained grounds. The house was very clean. I liked it very much. The only issues I have is with the master bedroom A/C, the exhaust pipe going out the window and if the door wasn't open it didn't get very cool at all and would be extremely stuffy. Blackout curtains for the sun and for the windows along the street area is very much needed IMO. The place and grounds were great. The host is very responsive.

We loved our stay at the Bungalow. Family of 5, kids aged 14, 12 and 10. The house was very clean and had all the amenities we needed, although the kitchen is basic we didn't need anything more and ate out a lot; so many restaurants a short tuk tuk ride away, as well as two within walking distance. The beach out the front is steps away, it is stunning, it gets very busy on the weekend but we could always reserve our spot before the crowds arrived. Had a few days where it was very calm and we could go for night swims, then a few days where the waves were very big and the kids had so much fun swimming. Not great for surfing out the front, the kids had lessons at Playa Grande, highly recommend the Caribbean Surf School. Really easy to get Tuk Tuks into Puerto Viejo, about $10USD, we much preferred Playa Cocles and Chiquita; really laid back with much nicer restaurants. Highly recommend a trip to Bri Bri waterfalls! Great family holiday, highly recommend.

The place is very nice, surrounded by nature. It is very comfortable, although the only thing I would recommend is that they install air conditioners in the rooms. Other than that, everything else is very good, the open space in the living room, the pool and the terrace. The location of the place is also very convenient, it is very close to Punta Uva and about 10 minutes from downtown Puerto Viejo. Maya was always very friendly and helpful at all times. This place is really nice, surrounded by nature. It is very comfortable although I would recommend installing A/Cs in the rooms. Other than that, everything else is great, the open space on the lower floor, the swimming pool, and the terrace. The location is also very convenient since it is very close to Punta Uva and around 10 minutes away from downtown Puerto Viejo. Maya was very kind and helpful all the time.

The place is beautiful and as pictured. The location on the beach is completely unbeatable. That said, it is very expensive to get that location and some aspects don't quite hit that high price (the kitchen is ok but definitely a "beach kitchen", and the couches/living room is very makeshift, for example). I think in the end it is worth it (if you have 4-6 people) because of the beauty of the beach, but the price does make it a slight pause.

We really enjoyed the stay at this property, its location is perfect, a few steps from one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. It has air conditioning+ ceiling fans in the 3 bedrooms, water filter, equipped kitchen, blankets for the beach (in addition to bath towels), hair dryer, iron (which we did not use, but in short they have thought of everything one might need). Parking, grill with implements, hammocks and nice lighting in the external area. And it's pet friendly! :) We would definitely rent again. I did not put the 5 stars in cleaning, because in the garden we find dog droppings, it really is not their fault if other tenants do not pick up what their pets do, but it is advisable to give them a review to the garden (in addition because during our stay some neighboring dogs in the area easily entered below the wardrobe next to the harbor that faces the beach, and it is possible that they are the ones who get dirty

Casa Panorama was superb. It really ticked all of our boxes Wildlife - in abundance, 2 types of monkey, agoutis, poison dart frogs, Macaws, Parrots, Toucans - all day all the time! Privacy - Up on a hill with no direct neighbours totally private and quiet (except for the above animals!) spacious - we're a family of 5 and there was loads of great space for dining, lounging, being together or being alone! pool - for us this was the jewel in the crown, at least 15 metres long, perfect for a proper swim as well as playing around. Hosts - excellent communication and super helpful. we came from Tortuguero in a pick up and all of our clothes were drenched in a downpour so Gina helped by washing and drying them all - diamond (and all their recommendations paid off too). Location - whilst private close to beach, restaurants, supermarket and two national parks within minutes drive. we loved our stay for 6 nights and it means the next few on our trip have a lot to live up to!

We had a great visit to Punta Uva. The location of the house was great. It was easy to get to, just a short drive off the main road. It was right on a great beach with shade, for hours of relaxation. On our daily beach walk, we saw a 2 toed sloth in a tree. There's a long distance of beach to walk, that goes all the way to the reserve. I highly recommend the Caribeans Chocolate farm tour too. We saw lots of sloths, frogs, and toucans, and tasted lots of yummy chocolate. The house had a gorgeous yard and garden and perfect AC in the bedrooms.

We really enjoyed our stay, the beach is beautiful and the location was great. Surf lessons and rentals right around the corner, restaurant two doors down, amazing wildlife, beautiful long beach walks, it was amazing! The house is minimally stocked – no games, no beach toys, no beach chairs, so make sure to bring. The house needs some work, Maya and her team helped on some of the issues, usually showing up quickly. The weekends can get very busy, as buses of people show up and overtake the beach, but the rest of the week is awesome. This place is Pura Vida!

A beautiful house in a property that is mostly preserved forest. A beauty for nature lovers: we saw green laps, three species of hummingbirds, small birds, frogs, even a guatuza! Excellent pool, well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, plenty of space. It doesn't have AC, but we honestly didn't need it. Very safe, with electric gate and good privacy, no noise from the street or neighbors, excellent location. Very good communication at all times! Highly recommended for remote work, there were four of us and the internet was carving.

Location was great. Just a 10 min drive to the beach as you are right by the beach. The house is secluded in the woods so it is very private and quite. Beautiful pool in front. The description stated there was AC but there was none in the house, but there were plenty of fans. Its a bit hot at first, but once you sit in front of a fan you cool down. Very spacious home as it was me and my family. Very clean and communication with the host was great! She greeted us at the door and went over the instructions. The only Cons: were bugs in the home. It is in the woods so i did expect it and didnt bother me. The only thing that did was the lizard that took a shower with me everyday..LOL he just starred at me every time. Also there were plenty of towels but no wash cloths to shower with. Totally recommend to get away with family to be able to enjoy the beach and also after long day at beach a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy the pool, hammocks and bird calling.

Host Response

Hola Jamar! Not sure where you say the AC is being mentioned, I believe you might have confused it with another listing. :D

We had a great weekend! The host was quick to communicate from when we booked, to when we checked out. They set up a shuttle for us to/ from SJO airport. They also can help with car rentals. The home is steps away from Punta Una beach. The property is beautifully maintained, with ambient lights and plants. It is also gated. The AC and hot water was nice. Steps from a couple of restaurants and coconut stands. It's quiet at night (we saw a mom and baby sloth coming back from dinner) and we heard monkeys in the morning. It's a 15 minutes drive to Puerto Viejo and a 10 minute drive to Manzanillo. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful place and home. One of my favorite beaches in Costa Rica and to have it right in front of your room is just magical.

Description and pictures were very accurate. Secluded and beautiful property. Tons of animals and cool bugs to see right from the pool. Pool is huge and wonderful on a hot day. No AC was fine as there were lots of fans for airflow. Internet was upgraded when we were there so might help with some shortcomings mentioned in other reviews. Overall was a great time and we ended up extending our stay.
