4BR Townhouse in Mexico City

Michael

Excellent, 2 months ago

Sophie is a wonderful host, very responsove and proactive. and her casa is BEAUTIFUL

This house was truly incredible and such a gem. We spent a week in Mexico City with our five year old, and this house felt cozy and perfect. We relaxed and played cards and games in the beautiful outdoor area. We lounged and read in many of the beautiful seating areas. We made breakfast in the cozy kitchen. And we also were so enamored with all the gorgeous artwork and photography around the house. Such a perfect spot for a family or even a couple that wants a lot of space. Plus, it was in the perfect spot in Condesa, walking distance to so many great cafes and restaurants. Highly recommend!

This house was a great for our family of 8. Everyone had their own space to chill out yet we could all still eat together at the large tables. It's important to know that some of the plumbing runs slow - possibly due to the age of the house and that the laundry is located on the roof (with drying lines to hang clothes on). It was very easy to walk around, with convience stores (to get more water), restaurants and the local Walmart located close by.

Wonderful house! Very comfortable and the garden is very nice.

Spectacular home that exceeded all expectations! We were blown away by the preserved historic details, the gorgeous custom furniture, the comfortable bed, the bathtub right out of a 20's movie and so much more! We walked in and were honestly blown away by the charm, character and the spaciousness of the house. The garden was filled with beautiful flowers and was the perfect place for breakfast every morning. Sophie was a quick communicator, super helpful and kind every step of the way. We couldn't have asked for a better stay. The location was close to everything and on a gorgeous block. Don't think twice just book! Worth every penny and more.

Sophie’s house really made our wedding week special! We immediately felt at home- as did our city pup in the sweet yard! The house was so special and unique and Sophie was incredibly helpful and responsive. I can't recommend this house more! THANK YOU AGAIN!

Thank you very much Liz!!

Our group was in awe of this gorgeous home the entire time we stayed here. It is an architectural gem, and furnished and decorated extremely skillfully. Beyond that, it was extremely clean and functional. The location was excellent for everything we needed, and the host was super responsive. I would recommend this stay to anyone, and feel lucky to have spent a few days here.

Thank you Francesca for your Nice review!!I am glad you enjoyed your stay😊

Sophie's house was a perfect place to spend Christmas! The house is beautiful - full of lovely antiques, art, and books. We were worried about being cold, but Sophie made sure the heating was on and we were perfectly cozy. The backyard is lovely and sunny. All the rooms are comfortable and have nice windows. The best part about CDMX is no bugs so you can have windows open during the warm days. The house is in a quiet leafy neighborhood just blocks from the beautiful Avenida Amsterdam. Sophie was a wonderful host, making sure we had recommendations for dinner nearby since we arrived in the evening. She was communicative, responsive, and available. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a special place to stay in CDMX!

We loved the location and it is a BEAUTIFUL home on a verdant, quiet street. The 4th bedroom is a room with a conference table and not suitable for sleeping. Luckily, the extra cousin that was going to stay with us could stay with another relative, so it worked out. The pictures featured one of the bedrooms twice instead of the room with the long table. Fabulous art deco features throughout, and a wonderful city patio and 'yard' !

Sophie's place is very pretty, but it's old. The floors are creaky, the doors bang into the furniture, and the bathrooms are awkward. Most importantly, this isn't really a 4-bedroom. It's a 3-bedroom. The 4th bedroom with a 'sofa bed' isn't really a sofa bed. We had to cancel our stay and move to another Airbnb as we didn't have enough beds for our party.

Host Response

Yes,it is old, because it is an Art Deco house,it is from the 20's.And it does have 4 bedrooms as explained in the description, one of them is a studio with a sofa bed. If you read the datails it is clearly explained.

Sophie’s place is exquisite! From top to bottom, every detail is thoughtful and perfect. Just to be clear, this is not some cookie cutter modern rental like you’d find in Polanco - but if you value authenticity and beauty, you will love this art deco gem and won’t find a better spot in CDMX than this tranquil, tree-lined street. I’ve stayed in historic properties in Condesa before but my friends and I were blown away by how beautiful the house was and we can’t wait to come back. Watching the monarch butterflies on the bougainvillea in the yard every morning was a highlight. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Host Response

Beautiful art deco home.

This is a beautiful and very distinctive house in a gorgeous neighbourhood. The area is perfect for Mexico City; it's a short walk to the metro stop but more importantly this part of Condesa is lovely - safe, leafy and walkable, with lots of cafes and restaurants. The house is very spacious and has a really remarkable atmosphere: as other reviewers have said, it's like living in an Art Deco film set. That means that a lot of the stuff is quite old, for example in the kitchen. But that's fine. You know what you're getting (and how much cooking are you going to do in Mexico City anyway?) And it's worth it for the treat of staying in such an extraordinarily stylish space - and in such a lovely neighbourhood. One other thing: Sophie was really helpful and communicative throughout. All in all, then, a five-star place.

Hi Dominic!Thank you dearly for your comments, and also for the private feedback. I will make sure to amend this . April was very very busy, at some point we had little time for cleaning. So maybe it is a good idea to block the calendar a few more days between reservations. And also, about lighting, you are right too.I will look for more intense bulbs. Is the light in the bathroom downstairs ok?

The house is an experience but there are some issues that need to be addressed. The house needs a 2nd wifi router for the 2nd floor, as the wifi does not reach past the living rooms. For example, there is no wifi in the bedrooms. The queen bedroom needs blackout curtains, otherwise you will be woken up each day at 7 AM whether you like it or not. The mattresses and pillows are also too old and need to be updated. Lighting in the master bathroom (at night) is also an issue. The house is not modern and the charm starts to wear off after a few days. With that said, we enjoyed our time there, and the neighborhood is beautiful.

Host Response

Thank you for your feedback David, I will take into account the comments about the wifi and the other details.

I had a wonderful stay at Sophie’s, and it was an ideal base camp for celebrating a special birthday among close friends. The house is beautiful, spacious, and comfortable, and we loved that there were 3 full bathrooms. It’s on a quiet, tree-lined street that felt safe and peaceful, but was still a short walk from tons of great cafes, food spots, and shops. Sophie was a hospitable host who took care of small details - like stocking the home with water for us - that made a big difference. I would highly recommend staying here, especially if you’re into design and antiques - the home is full of wonderful objects and design features, beautiful art and photography, and a crazy art book collection! You’ll leave inspired.

Truly a special place. Felt like stepping back to a graceful Art Deco era. It was like living on a movie set. But everything is original. There are so few homes like this. It is an absolutely special place. And one of the cleanest I’ve ever stayed in. The area is gorgeous with quiet tree lined avenues.

This house is an absolute GEM! my boyfriend and I are avid fashion/architecture/art and photography enthusiasts and we all fell in love with this house. I felt so lucky to have been able to stay in this space, it’s truly so special and full of creative inspiration. Decompressing in the lush backyard was my favorite part. The neighborhood is so charming and it’s in close proximity to many great restaurants, bars and shops. Couldn’t of asked for a better airbnb for this trip! We will definitely be back!

This home is incredibly charming. We felt transported to a different era and had a great experience. This home is great for groups. Sophie was extremely flexible with our check in due to our flight schedule. She was great with communication and quick to respond.

This is the house of Air BnB Dreams! Sophie was the absolute best host, the house is in the most beautiful neighborhood. We will absolutely be back!

Sophie's house was even better than expected. Firstly, the house is huge. There is a ton of space, so you don't feel like you're living on top of your travel companions. Plenty of room to spread out or find a quiet nook to read or relax. The house is well located in walking distance to some great restaurants and parks. It's definitely the nicest place I've stayed in CDMX. Also, the it's rare to find a private outdoor garden to take advantage of the nice weather. The house has everything you need for a short or long visit to the City.

Sophie’s place was incredible! My friends and I felt like we were staying in a work of art. The rooms were beautifully decorated, the house itself was stunning and the location was incredible- steps from the best neighborhoods but on a quiet street. Sophie was a great host, easy to reach and made us feel right at home!

An absolutely fabulous house! The location could not have been better, my guests and I had a hard time leaving however because the house was just so beautiful we wanted to spend more time there. Would definitely book again.

Sophie's house is by far the most wonderful place we’ve ever stayed in — what a magical experience! It’s a true gem of Mexico City art deco architecture, beautifully restored with stunning period furniture and meaningful artwork and books. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms all perfect — including that stained-glass masterpiece — and there are so many lovely places to gather together or just relax quietly throughout the house. The location is also excellent — a short walk to everything in Hipodromo, Condesa and Roma Norte, and of course very easy to get an Uber to anywhere further afield. We loved getting morning coffee and a pastry from Saint Panaderia, and tamales and chilaquiles from Molino el Pujol — both a five-minute walk down the street. Sophie went out of her way to make us feel welcome on arrival, and even printed some documents we needed. There was also fresh fruit and bread on arrival, and a bottle of wine to enjoy in the gorgeous secluded backyard garden, where we spent many mornings and sunsets relaxing while hummingbirds darted among the bougainvillea. Just blissful. We adored every moment in this luxurious home and we can’t wait to come back next time we're in Mexico City!

The house is spectacular. The cleanliness is impeccable, and in general, everything is in order. The only thing I could recommend to the hosts is that they take a little care of the amenities they offer in their house, since a fairly high price is being paid, so amenities of that level would be expected. Despite this, I recommend the stay 100%.

Staying at this beautiful home is like staying in a museum! Every item, piece of furniture and artwork in the home fits so beautifully with the art deco sensibility of the place. It feels like you are stepping back to a more beautiful, peaceful, artistic place and time. The tall ceilings! The grand staircase! The bathroom! The garden! All so magical. Julie was a spectacular host, and made us feel right at home. We loved having our coffee in the garden before starting out on our day. And the beds were so comfortable! We all slept well every night. The neighborhood is quiet, safe and gorgeous with tree-lined streets and charming restaurants, taquerias and cool cocktail bars right around the corner. And parks everywhere! We love Mexico City, but staying in this home brought our experience up to a whole new level. We can't wait to come back!

Sophie was great

This house is a stunning art deco gem! If you are a fan of art deco, or fabulous homes in general, this house is the perfect place to stay. As I glided down the elegant staircase I felt as if I was in a Noel Coward play...play some Xavier Cugat or Edith Piaf and you will feel like you are right back in the gilded age! The outdoor space is quiet and peaceful, the perfect place to enjoy coffee or a homemade breakfast...accompanied by freshly made tortillas from Pujol's tortilleria which is literally one block down the street. We also love the neighborhood (Condessa), so many outstanding restaurants and the perfect place for just strolling around. Thanks also to Sophie and Nadja for being wonderful hosts...everything was just perfect!!

Sophie's place is beautiful and Sophie and her property manager are great. The location is excellent. Unfortunately, due to an issue with one of our kids we had to leave early. Sophie was very understanding and made our early departure stress free. Thank you!

This place was really wonderful. Amazing attention to detail on the aesthetics. We all felt like we were staying in a different time period. Very regal and gorgeous place to stay. The place had really strong personality. Tons of legit and generous public space to gather as a group (Living Room, Dining Room, Lounge, Garden, entry way with chairs)--so many different spots to gather and enjoy company. The garden in the backyard was a really enjoyable oasis in the middle of the city. Just having some outdoor access in a busy city is really clutch. We all took our coffee and breakfast outside every day in the morning The beds were a bit stiff, this was the only complaint. But kind of trivial in the large scheme of things. The neighborhood was really quiet. Yet not devoid of wonderful restaurants and plenty of interesting nightlife. Multiple stores with in a couple of blocks for water, alcohol, food, supplies, etc. Overall, our group all agreed that this was a wonderful place to stay while we visited Mexico City. I'd recommend this place to anyone that wants personality, tons of space, a classy vibe and authenticity on their Mexico City stay.
