My family and I stayed at Alan and Sue’s place in Playa Avellanas and what an amazing place it was! From the wildlife to the authentic and slowed down pace of the town was exactly what my family and I needed! The place was clean and well cared for, and Alan and Sue were very communicative! We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great getaway!

Our family of 5 had a fantastic stay in Playa Avellanas. The place looks just like the photos and the kitchen was well stocked. Our kids loved the pool and the hammocks. We took surfing lessons at the beach and enjoyed pizzas at the nearby restaurant. One day we saw howler monkeys from the balcony. We would definitely come back to stay.

Great house. Avellanas is a very beautiful and quiet beach, but with few options for restaurants and a market nearby.

This house was lovely. You can tell it was designed with love and a clear idea. We enjoy to travel to unique Airbnb's and this certainly was filled with character. The kids loved the pool and we played cards in the covered patio.

Casa Sabura is a little oasis in Playa Avenellas. Though we had a car, we could walk to all the great nearby restaurants (and there are many!). It's also a short walk to the beach. We appreciated the kitchen, two bathrooms, the cozy beds, and the surroundings. It honestly feels like you're staying in a treehouse. It has a more Costa Rican vibe than many of the newer places nearby -- so if that's what you're going for, you'll get it here. It was also great to have the pool to cool off in. If you've had too much sun elsewhere (and you will!), the pool is a little sanctuary from the sun, especially in the afternoon.

We had a great stay at Alan and Sues Airbnb. The outdoor area was superb and the beds were very comfortable. Our only complaint would be that we found the pool quite murky with a lot of brown sludge on the bottom, with no pool vacuum available. That would be our only complaint! The rest of the home was exactly as described!

Hi Samantha, Glad you enjoyed your stay. As to the pool, we wish you had notified us as we could have had the pool company come in to fix any issues. Thank you again for choosing us. Best......... Alan and Sue

This home was not available for our entire stay in CR. In hindsight, I am happy we got to diversify our trip. This house is a gem but it’s location is somewhat isolated: 20 min of gravel road to the nearest town. It’s a 40 min drive to Tamarindo. Playa Avellanas is very small with just a few convenient stores and restaurants thus planning ahead for groceries is essential. It has a gorgeous beach with great waves. The house is 1.2 km from the beach access and the famous Lola’s restaurant. It’s location is secured behind a large gate. The home is a gorgeous wooden structure with a majestic ceiling. The outdoor lounge/kitchen by the superb pool was so enjoyable. The main 2nd floor area with its well equipped kitchen and its sliding doors made you feel like you were suspended in the trees. It was so peaceful to listen to the birds and the breeze swirling in the leaves. This was a beautiful environment to end our stay in CR.

This home worked perfect for our trip to Costa Rica. The pool and outdoor space was amazing. We loved having the two rooms upstairs with the main house and the extra room downstairs because we brought my dad with us and it gave him his own space. We heard monkeys howl in the mornings and had the flexibility to either walk or drive down to the beach. Also the home had spices and oils on hand which was great given how far our you are from a full market. The only thing I wish it had was a washer and drier.

Thanks for the great review Carlee, we appreciate it. Cheers!!!

The house was beautiful and in general super cool. The hosts were fabulous. I gave it some 4’s because while I expected spiders and scorpions (I’ve been to Costa Rica a handful of times), I wasn’t prepared for the other wildlife (bats, big frog in the downstairs bathroom and neighborhood dog who really wanted to get inside the house). This was a more rustic experience than I was expecting. If you enjoy glamping and wildlife, this is your spot! Wonderful neighborhood and plenty of great food choices nearby.

This home was everything we wanted, a rustic setting with the beach and restaurants close by. Just know that this is Costa Rica and there will be bugs, frogs, lizards and monkeys all around. We had an issue with a broken water line and the house manager, Yira, was very responsive and handled it right away. The owners even refunded us a portion of our stay, which was not necessary, but very much appreciated! Yira was more than helpful and accommodating during our stay. This is a great house to stay in for this area!

An extraordinary experience. The house was just as described. The location was great- sleepy town but in close proximity to anything we wanted to do. The host was always responsive and especially helpful. Book it! You won’t regret it.

This place was great for our family stay in Avellanas. Two bedrooms upstairs were perfect for my husband and I and our two children. The pool was so great. For families awareness, my youngest (4) had to stay on the steps to play in the pool due to the depth, but my older child (7) managed the full pool just fine! We loved this place.
