We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Close to great restaurants and the beach. The house was magical and very private. We loved all the artwork and attention to detail. The kitchen worked great for cooking nice meals for our family!

We truly enjoyed and savoured our four weeks at Casa Olayh! The location, nestled in the jungle but with soaring vast views, made for a magical experience. We loved the infinity pool, the outdoor living spaces, sleeping with the windows open, listening to the birds and hearing the ocean surf in the distance. And just a 10-15 minute walk to great eating establishments. The location, up a dusty lane and then a steep driveway, makes for joy in the arrival “home” each and every time. (People who struggle with mobility will want to rent a golf cart and should know that there are a lot of steps to the various levels of this wonderful home.)

Had a great first trip to Sayulita, anchored by Janet’s wonderful Casa! She has a local property manager, Omar, who was so fantastic. He introduced himself in person at lunch downtown one day and was always available if we needed anything (like how to light the oven, ha!). Nice to have safe drinking water onsite with their reverse osmosis system. We rented a golf cart which was fun, but really not necessary as everything is so walkable. Thanks for a beautiful stay!

I have stayed in Sayulita several times and this was by far the best property. It was perfect for 3 couples, with separate rooms and bathrooms for each of us. Pool was amazing! So quiet, butterflies and parakeets were everywhere. Amazing views from multiple decks. Way better than it seemed in photos. Can’t wait to go back. I love the hidden back road location that makes it so private. Spent more time at the house than we did at the beach i think :)

Casa O'Layh was an amazing place to stay while we visited Sayulita. The location in the lush jungle was absolutely beautiful and the views from all levels were stunning. We were a group of six that included my wife and I, our three adult children and our son in law. The three levels with private entrances and bathrooms were ideal for our group, allowing for privacy and comfort. We LOVED the pool and spent many hours in it. Pool maintenance came each Monday and the pool and surrounding deck were pristine. We did have a big thunderstorm one night and did not experience the pool clouding that others mentioned in their reviews. The pool stayed fresh and inviting. We walked everywhere and did not rent a golf cart. The walk back up the hill to the Casa was a little hot a few days but we didn't mind, knowing that a refreshing dip in the pool awaited us. Omar was amazing, addressing any questions promptly and in such a friendly way. We loved our stay and hope to be back one day!

Casa OLayh was a dream! When we were booking our stay in Sayulita, we were given the advice that if we wanted to get some shut-eye, to stay somewhere outside of the "square" (its really like a triangle). We booked Casa OLayh, which is located in the North side of town. It was far enough where we didn't hear the noise late at night, and close enough where we didn't feel too far away from all the fun. The house is tucked away at the end of a private drive with amazing views of the ocean from the fourth floor rooftop. If you are used to walking and love getting your steps in on vacation, then transportation is probably not needed. However, if you aren't, renting a golf cart is the way to go. The pool was beautiful and was perfect to come back to after a night of fun (I am already missing this pool). This house is PERFECT for family and friends that like their own space as each bedroom has its own bathroom. House manager Omar was FANTASTIC!

Beautiful stay, the house was perfect for our needs. We really enjoyed the drinking water accessible directly from the kitchen faucet, the air conditioning in the bedrooms, the swimming pool and the incredible view from the terrace. The cleanliness of the premises was superb, thanks again to Cielo for these services. The rooms are comfortable and the canvases are beautiful. Janet was very accommodating, we greatly appreciated her flexibility and attentiveness! We are very satisfied with our visit to Casa O'Layh!!! Thank you!!!

We loved our stay! Beautiful and private, the views and pool are better than the photos even. Town in walkabout; but we can’t recommend getting a gold cart enough, made our stay super easy. Lots of clean towels/linens, great kitchen stock for cooking at home. Loved our stay at the casa and hope to come back sometime soon!!

Our stay could not have been more perfect, and the majority of that was thanks to Casa Olayh. The home is amazing and the pool is almost better. The views were incredible and we slept like babies in the A/C bedrooms. Super close walk to all the fun of town and the beach! Omar was a wonderful host: explained everything and was available for questions/recommendations. We would come back and stay again, for sure. Thank you for sharing, Janet! What a gem!

We just returned from a wonderful 6 week stay at Casa Olayh. We could not have been happier with the accommodations, the amenities and the location. Casa Olayh had everything we needed – 3 large bedrooms, plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces to spend time, a kitchen with everything we needed to cook from time to time, and a responsive property manager and thorough housekeeping and grounds management. The blue tiled pool was wonderful, and we were in it nearly every day. We stayed in the top bedroom most of the time where the view of the ocean was spectacular. The northside location was an easy walk into town – either on the beach or main street – less than 15 minutes. Within five minutes, there are countless restaurants, bars and, of course, the beach. We thought the hill up to the casa was nothing. It is about a two-minute walk, and we did it easily. I highly recommend Casa Olayh. It made our time in Sayulita special.

This place was amazing! It was like we were staying in a tree house positioned in a jungle with beautiful terrain all around us. The house also was very private with several different outside locations to hang out with our friends. The pool was a highlight and was always refreshing! The property manger was great as well as the cleaning staff. We highly recommend this place if you are looking for privacy and beautiful surroundings. We rented a golf cart as the house is a ways up a hill. We spent 30 days here and we still not ready to leave.

Casa Olay is located in a great spot in Sayulita. Close enough to town to walk easily but far enough away that the noise and bustle doesn't disturb you. There is a beautiful pool area (which is well maintained) and great outdoor gathering spots. The kitchen has everything you need if you cook at home but the house is located close to several great cafes and restaurants. We rented a golf cart for the week but also walked to town and the beach quite a bit. Omar the property manager was very helpful at check in (and our plane was late by a couple hours which I am sure messed up his schedule!) but he made sure we had the full tour. He was very responsive with any questions after. Sayulita is a growing town but still has the small town feel. We felt very safe walking either as a group or as a single person. Thanks Janet for sharing your home with us!

Casa O’Layh did not disappoint! In fact, we thought it was much better in person than in the photos! I agree with other reviews that the three-floor set up is perfect for three separate couples or for a family with teenagers who need their own space. Probably less suitable for families with younger kids. Each bedroom has its own air conditioning and modern bathrooms. Although when booking I had been tempted to take a place downtown for convenience, I am glad I didn’t. I very much appreciated the location of the house, slightly north of downtown, in a much quieter neighborhood. Being able to hear the jungle noises and treetop chatter was a very magical experience that would’ve been drowned out by the hustle and bustle of downtown. Even at night, the lush landscape is alive with the amazing sounds of tropical animals and birds. We LOVED falling asleep to these sounds. The pool area is just perfect. It should probably be said that the pool does cloud up a little after a rain shower. We were also disappointed that the pool lights didn’t work which made night time swims just a little too dark. We mentioned this to the manager but it was not fixed before we left. We chose to rent a golf cart although the house is well-located to be able to reach downtown in 10 to 20 minutes (depending on the heat) and I am so glad that we did. Traveling with two teenage boys, with competing interests and moods, made the golf cart necessary and super fun. We transported surfboards easily with the cart. I think the golf cart made the vacation even more memorable. The building manager organized our round-trip travel from the airport in a comfortable, air-conditioned, car. We were able to stop at a supermarket on the way and stock up on essentials. This made our whole journey smooth and comfortable which was so appreciated given my traveling alone with my sons. We enjoyed the recommended trips (Ally Cat boat trip to the islands and the off road driving experience). Again, if you have teenagers, these experiences are amazing. Our water did run out on day 2 and Omar had it restored on day 3. So we did experience a little sweaty discomfort for one day. Also, as already noted, the pool clouds up a little after a downpour, taking away some of its appeal. Unfortunately we did not use the pool on the last 2 days due to this. We were late to notify Omar about this. Stay in contact with the building manager. He is responsive. Overall, just be prepared for some issues like this. It did not spoil our vacation and we would definitely return to Casa O’Layh in the beautiful town of Sayulita.

The house looks just like the pictures. It is perfectly set up for 3 couples with each bedroom/bathroom on its own private floor. The top 2 bedrooms have amazing views. The pool area is lovely and the sounds of the jungle around it are relaxing. The road to get to the house is a little rough especially after a hard rain but our rental car handled it fine with careful driving. It was nice to be above/out of the main streets as they can be loud when it’s busy in town. I would absolutely recommend this house to friends.

Janet’s home is gorgeous and convenient. We loved being on the quiet side of town, away from the bustle of the central plaza area, but within walking distance of the beach. The pool was to DIE for and the kids played for hours. Omar is a wonderful host who was very attentive. The housekeeper, Ceilo, was kind and very thorough.

This is a really great house in what I would consider a perfect location. There were a couple of things to consider before booking that I will mention. Kitchen: The house comes equipped with a RO filtered tap, so you don't have to chase down the water truck or haul jugs up from town. This was hugely convenient. The kitchen is well stocked. Bedrooms: The house provides three bedroom/bathroom suites which are very private and all on different levels. Beds were comfortable and clean, each bedroom has its own mini-split A/C unit, and the bathrooms are spacious and equipped with rain showers and well-working toilets. Outdoors: The house also has five outdoor seating areas - ground level by the pool, first level off of the kitchen/living room, second level which includes an outside refrigerator and bar, third level balcony off of a bedroom, and rooftop deck. The pool is very well kept and felt very clean. There is an outdoor shower next to the pool. Location: The house is slightly north-east of town. Once you walk off of the hill it is a straight shot down to the best part of the beach. The beach at this end of town is not nearly as busy as it is off of the main surf break. It is about a 5 minute walk down to the beach and a 15 minute walk to the center of town. Although there are neighbors, the house and all outdoor spaces feel very private. Communication/Service: Everyone involved with this house was excellent. Janet (owner) was very responsive to my questions during the booking process. Omar (property manager) was very responsive and helpful throughout. He booked us round trip transportation from the PV airport and helped us to solve a couple of small issues that we encountered along the way. Precautions: When booking this house it is important to know that the third level bedroom and rooftop patio are only accessible by an iron spiral staircase that lies external to the house. Would not recommend for children. Would definitely book this house again.

The house is everything you might hope for! The pictures are accurate and the house and pool are absolutely wonderful. Each level of the house (3) has a room and an ensuite bathroom. I went with a group of six people and it fit our needs perfectly and more than comfortably. The pool and rooftop area are wonderful and the second floor outdoor area was perfect for getting some work done with an amazing view. Wifi was reliable (we had up to 5 people working remotely at one point) and air conditioning worked great for all indoor areas. The safe is small and there is only one, but fits a few laptops and other valuables - everything we needed to have stored when we left the house. I would strongly recommend getting a golf cart for moving around in Sayulita - we were able to rent a 6-seater from Roy's and it was perfect for our needs. I will also note that getting cash out in town was a lot trickier than anticipated and the ATMs at the airport have additional fees, so would recommend to come prepared with cash, as many locations will not accept credit cards. The host and property manager were kind and helpful - although some communications came in a bit last min. I would suggest being proactive about getting information and recommendations from them, as we were not able to make use of some of it due to things being booked by the time we reached out/or having already made other arrangements of our own since we didn't know the info was coming. Otherwise everything went smoothly with check in and scheduling the mid-week cleaning ahead of time and in coordination with management. Overall, we loved the house and the town - I would love to come back here very soon and stay at Casa Olayh again!

The pictures do this home no justice! Super cute and off the beaten path so you don't hear all the noise from town. Love that each level is separated, would be great for three couples to share and still have privacy. Amazing views and great pool! The host and house manager are super responsive and attentive. Honestly, this place is a gem and I would love to return. Very clean and well maintained.

Great place up on the hill. Secluded when in the infinity pool. The pool was a great place to congregate. 3 bedroom levels and a wonderful 4th floor rooftop patio. Please watch a sunset from the 4th floor! Each bedroom with a reasonably quiet air conditioning system (+++). Really nice bedrooms/ bathrooms. The kitchen on floor 1 is very well stocked, everything you need including a garlic press. It is a 10 minute walk to town center, 5 minute walk to the beach. Being up on the hill, if you have joint issues, renting a golf cart is a great idea. Otherwise, great walk and exercise. It is nice because at night, you are far enough away from the music and party to sleep when you want to. We had 4 people, but Casa Olayh easily supports 6. it is a great place and great value. We all highly recommend this place.

Better than advertised. Such a perfect spot to hide away. With rooms on different floors each bedroom offers a different but equally luxurious experience, no losers on the who gets what room game. Beautiful spot, as good as advertised and far enough away from Sayulita you can escape the town when you’re ready. Would advise a golf cart if you plan on going in and out town a few times a day.

Great house, great host and great staff and great location. Superb place for a family to spend time together. Close to restaurants, Sayulita beach and easy drive to wonderful nearby beaches. I enjoyed taking trail runs from the house into the jungle, the trail can be found in AllTrails app however it’s much longer than what’s in the app.

Beautiful Casa. The view, the pool, the equipment, the access to a less crowded beach with fewer vendors, the proximity to the small town and its friendly locals...wonderful stay. There is the renovation of other casas around with the hammers that are heard at 7am except on Sundays. It was not possible to shower in the bedroom on the 3rd floor due to lack of pressure. We were suggested restaurants and an excursion. The snorkeling trip to the Marietas Islands with AllyCat was just beautiful. The team is professional and environmentally conscious. We highly recommend this stay without hesitation. Omar was available and answered any questions we had.

Great spot! You will likely need a golf cart unless you want some good exercise, but it’s worth it for the views, space, and pool. Omar, the property manager, is super responsive and friendly. Any questions or concerns we’re addressed immediately. Wifi works great. Quiet day and night, so super relaxing. We would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat.

Excellent property, the best is the privacy and security of the place, the house is super spacious and very clean, it has everything for a stay of rest and relaxation. The pool is great , spacious and with all the equipment to keep it clean filtered and safe. We only recommend accessing one vehicle with good traction and high as the slope in the rainy season makes it difficult to access low vehicles. We marked it as one of our favorite stays and would gladly return. Part of our stay we touched Hurricane Nora and the property did not suffer any damage since it is structurally very well built we felt very safe at all times!

Our family of five, including two teens and a senior adult, thoroughly enjoyed Casa Olayh March 8-18 2020. It was a quiet oasis in the midst of many changes (and in the midst of Sayulita, a busy little town). It was delightful to have Jan’s paintings as part of the house’s environment and to take in their colours and shapes. We also had not anticipated the ample space in the house offered. My husband and I enjoyed rare space away from our teens in the 4th floor suite. The design of the house is lovely and afforded many different experiences - outside naps on the second floor veranda and early morning watching the water and birds from the spacious rooftop patio. Do not forget your binoculars like I did! Note that like other homes in this part of Mexico there are many stairs in this house. There are three sets of concrete external stairs leading to the house, to the second floor suite ;(attached to the main kitchen) and to the third floor suite. My 80 year old mom and daughter stayed in the second floor suite and was able to navigate stairs down to the pool and to the car level. The third floor suite could be used as a separate space by another family. The bedroom had three single beds in it and has an attached outside kitchen with a very comfortable covered outside lounging area - very lovely afternoon nap area. The flight of stairs leading to the fourth floor suite and to the roof top Terrace are iron-wrought spiral stairs. Not recommended for small children, those with limited physical ability or fear of heights constraints but well worth the effort for the views. The pool is quite large compared to other rentals and we often enjoyed the pool patio - a nice selection of books as well. This house is very peaceful and has a sense of seclusion to it which was well appreciated. The house is a brief 5 minute walk to the quiet end of Sayulita beach; maybe 10 minute walk to town. The beach is quite small and busy. We came to surf - note that there is only one break for surfers and high competition line up. Also the surf end of the beach has a deep channel upon entry to water which has strong undercurrent. We highly recommend La Lancha’s white sand smooth entry, consistent wave, beach about 20 Minutes drive - has surf shop for rental and fantastic restaurant attached - delicious Ceviche! Also for body surfing- boogie boarding - 10 minutes up the highway - San Pancho - great little town; heavy waves; beautiful beach. All beaches we visited had high wave action including Playa Los Meurtres, no clarity for snorkelling. Also if you must eat gluten free - some GF goods can be bought in the city at Mega, La Comer or Chedraui but expensive. I carry a letter from my doctor and bring my own bread and buns. In town, there is a bakery which makes delicious GF bread. Get there early (8:30 am) before they sell out. I bought a $12 cdn. package of cookies in town. We ate Gf pizza in town, and many Mexican traditional meals are gluten free. Lactose free milk is available in town but lactose free cheeses need to be bought in the city. There are great little shops in Sayulita; a very walkable place. We used pesos most places. Maura the house manager was very accessible and responded quickly and professionally to any questions we had. This was a very memorable trip for us and a first time to the west coast of Mexico. Thank you very much Jan for your hospitality; Casa Olayh is a very special place.

Lovely house at the top of the hill. Incredible pool surrounded by jungle greenery. There is a refrigerator on the 1st and 2nd floor which was great. The 1st floor also has a good size living room to meet up and play games with your traveling partners. Our entire party of 6 fit easily and comfortably. Not the safest place for unruly little ones but perfect for adults who can handle stairs. Bring mosquito spray and rent a golf cart.

Casa Olayh is in a great location within walking distance to several good restaurants and just up the street from the beach. The part of the beach where most everyone hangs out is about a 15 minute walk away, but there's a lovely stretch of beach just about a five minute walk from the house. The house is lovely and the pool is great and we loved our stay there.

This is a great family retreat. Location is a on the North end of town. It's a 5-10 min walk to North End restaurants and beach. Amenities and spaces at the house are great for a large family or one with teenagers as we have wanting their own spaces. The pool is the ace in the hole to cool off when returning from shopping or activities downtown or being at the beach. The views both sunrise coming up behind the house or the sunsets from the rooftop are amazing. Jan and her mgmt. team are super accommodating with arrivals and departures around some travels we had a both ends of the days. The location is the perfect blend of piece and quite and accessibility to town and hiking trails if you want solitude and access to the natural beauty in the area.

We loved our stay!!! The pool was amazing, the lounge area made our afternoons fun and relaxing. The location is perfect. The views and sun sets make this location a real find! The privacy of each bedroom made our stay (3 couples) very comfortable. My only suggestion would be better mattress and pilliows particularly on the second floor and access to a bbq for cooking meals. This does not mean it had a big impact on our stay, we would still go back in a heart beat! The property manager and owner are very quick to respond and were helpful. The different patio areas is the best, this house offers so much, we used every inch of space. Casa Olay is a great house with spectacular views in a fantastic location!!!

Great house and great pool, my only hesitation is that the only access to the bedrooms is by an exterior staircase. I didn't realize this before booking and we have 3 young kids so I am not sure we would have rented knowing this. In the end, everything was fine but it's worth noting if you have kids. We had a few maintenance issues with the house but the property managers were quick to respond.

A perfect mix of quiet relaxation and a short distance to as much noise and action as you choose. The pool is perfect with a good mix of sun and shade. It feels like you are right in the jungle, surrounded by beautiful trees and palms yet you can see the town and the ocean and it’s all only 5-10 minute walk away. A golf cart for those who don’t enjoy the hills would be a good idea but certainly not necessary. Besides the walk home from town is a great way to burn a few of the excess calories. This is a great spot for 6 people and I would certainly go there again. Jan is a great host and its wonderful to see her artistic talent adorning the walls of this home. I highly recommend this home!

We stayed at Casa Olayh for the first time and it definitely will not be the last. Jan communicated with me very quickly whenever I had a question and had great advice for use in terms of location and what to look out for. The house is so beautiful. The views you will see in the pictures don’t even compare to how they look in person (in a good way). The rooftop view was amazing and you can see the town and beach along with the sunset. It’s about a 3 minute ride on a golf cart into the heart of the town or a 15 minute walk. There are really close areas of access to the beach near by (8-10 minute walk) where there are not many people usually. I will definitely be back at Casa Olayh again. The property manager was also very nice and Gerardo gave us a great deal on golf cart rentals. The only thing I would say is that the Hill/dirt road to get to the house is steep but the house and pool make up for it!

Casa Olayh was a perfect retreat for our family. We have 3 teenaged daughters and the home was situated great for our needs. The pool and quiet just far enough away from the noise of the town was great. We often came back to the house and made our own meal and to rest. The views from the roof were spectacular and we went into town each day and night to enjoy a truly magical place. We toured with Vallarta Adventures and took surfing lessons as a family. Both adventures and Casa Olayh were the highlights of our time. Thank you for the great stay!!

This home is an amazing experience to completely relax and unwind from a busy life. Secluded just enough to be surrounded by quiet beauty. The veiw is incredible. Very clean and hospitable. It is in Walking distance to town and beach. Do not recommend renting a car the road up to the house a bit rough best to use golf cart to get around or walk.Home and kitchen is well stocked. Wanted for nothing.Would not change a thing. Perfect retreat home .

We just spent a whole month in Sayulita at Casa OLayh and would highly recommend it. One of the best things about the Casa is its location. For us, it was just perfect. It is far enough away from town that we were afforded peaceful nights for sleeping and peaceful days for lounging by the pool. It wasn’t too far however, so that the walk in to town wasn’t too onerous. Also, although there is a bit of a small hill (just at the end, the final road up to the Casa), it wasn’t too steep (like Nanzal hill) but enough to provide some amazing views and gorgeous sunsets, especially on the upper levels of the Casa. Also, being on the North side, if you are a bird lover, it is a great spot for watching. I saw so many birds, some of which I learned later are only in a small area on the west of Mexico and not always easy to spot. The Chachalacas are eager to converse in the morning. We got used to them, but if you are a light sleeper, and want to sleep in, you may need earplugs. The other great thing about the location is that we often got some lovely breezes at the Casa. The heat would sometimes get too much for the kids in town, and it was refreshing to get back to cool off in the pool and catch the breeze. The pool was a godsend. We did admittedly spend more time there then at the beach. The rooms are very comfortable (in size and furnishings) and nicely decorated. The artwork (most of it Jan’s) is also a very lovely touch. The amenities allowed our month-long stay to be comfortable. We didn’t feel like we were lacking in anything to make breakfasts, lunches, snacks, or even dinners. Also, the staff were very friendly and kind and the property manager was very attentive. He was easy to reach regarding any issues and very responsive in terms of dealing with them. There were never big issues, the biggest probably being lack of running water (which is not a problem specific to Casa OLayh, but to Sayulita), but they were always dealt with quickly and professionally. I was always impressed with Ramon. And the owners were also very lovely and easy to deal with. Jan even checked in with us throughout our stay to make sure things were going well. All in all a fantastic place. Not a choice you would regret.
