Excellent, 4 weeks ago

We really enjoyed the hacienda-style accommodation, outdoor kitchen and living room. The rooms were large, 2/3 of them with A/C, and fans were available. Maria made us delicious breakfasts each morning. Her smile and kindness greatly contributed to the perfection of our stay. A true guardian angel, patient and attentive. She gave us a lot of helpful advice for our visits and our stay. Damian, thank you for your empathy. You have a beautiful home and a wonderful employee. We know where we will stay if fate allows. Thank you.

We stayed at Damian's place as a family of four, including 2 children who are ten years and under. We especially loved the location, an authentic corner of Oaxaca centro. During our stay we did multiple days of mountain biking and rock climbing and loved it all! Damian can share contact info for Gerardo, our MTB guide. And we climbed with Jorge from Kali Oaxaca Wall. They were both expert guides who were relaxed, patient, and super fun. After the outdoor activities, we booked massages at the house with a recommendation from Damian. It was just wonderful! Thank you so much, Damian for welcoming us. We hope to stay with you again soon.

I absolutely loved this house. It felt like a true sanctuary, and I’d return in a heartbeat. Somehow it’s even more charming and beautiful than the photos suggest. The location couldn’t have been better. Damian was fantastic. Thoughtful and attentive. He even arranged for breakfast to be prepared at the house the morning after we arrived, which made it feel extra special. A genuinely wonderful experience from start to finish!

We loved our stay at Damian’s place. The house is very open air and rustic. Which we personally loved but guests should understand the kitchen/eating area is open to the courtyard with enclosed bedrooms and baths off the courtyard. Upstairs is the plunge pool and seating area. The house is incredibly charming. The bedrooms are quite nice with comfortable beds in each and AC in two of three. Bathrooms are cook and clean but water pressure is lacking in showers. Street parking was always available but the street is narrow and steep. The neighborhood is very walkable and safe. Great coffee shop at the end of the block, food in all directions, and generally 5-15 min walk to most Oaxaca centro attractions. Mari cooked a great breakfast the first morning, which was perfect. Damian was very responsive and set up pick up/drop off laundry service for us. Overall a great stay!

Damián’s spot was the PERFECT place for us to crash after several days of travel, wedding celebrations, and exploring. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the linens clean, the bathroom and kitchen spotless, and the location was quite literally perfect. Our other family members stayed closer to the central part of town and complained about noise at their location but we all slept peacefully and comfortably at Damián’s. Mari came to cook a delicious breakfast on day one - The pool and rooftop terrace was just the cherry on top! I will highly highly recommend Damián’s place to friends visiting Oaxaca for years to come!!

We had a lovely stay at Damian’s home. It is an unusual spot — a preserved, old home surrounding an internal courtyard very close to the Oaxaca Centro. The bedrooms are large and comfortable, the kitchen is convenient, and the upstairs seating areas are nice for relaxing in the afternoon. Note that the renovation of the property is a gradual process, one that Damian is doing with evident care. Some fixtures and furniture are new while others are rustic. Overall the vibe was more rustic than we expected. The bedrooms off the main floor are spacious, the bathrooms convenient and utilitarian. We missed a central area to gather, sit, and experience the courtyard, and that connects the rooms to each other. The kitchen table, elevated off the main floor, is the gathering area on the main floor. On the second floor, there is a deck with two sun chairs as well as a simple seating area. Damian is great to communicate with, really helpful, and Mari is lovely and very helpful too.

Damian's historic home is beautiful and rustic with every detail considered, from the lovely outdoor kitchen to the picturesque courtyard to the rooftop view of the mountains. We saw hummingbirds in the courtyard every day, took a dip in the plunge pool on a hot afternoon, and sat on the rooftop in the evenings with a view of the lights of Oaxaca. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast by Mari, who was so kind and friendly. The bed and linens were very comfortable -- we had a great sleep every night. The neighborhood is quiet and private and felt very safe. It is a 10-15 minute walk to Centro, but there are also plenty of cafes and restaurants close by. (It is a bit of an uphill walk on the way back, but it is very doable, and you can easily flag down a taxi from Centro if needed.) Damian was extremely helpful from the start -- he offered to arrange transport from and to the airport and was responsive through the whole trip. It is a hard place to leave! We definitely hope to come back.

A beautiful, authentic home. Mari’s home cooked breakfast was an incredible touch!

We had an incredible time at Damian’s! Traveled with my two kids (5 and 3) who immediately fell in love with the place. Damian provides toys and books for kids and the garden in the courtyard provided lots of entertainment, with birds and caterpillars. The plunge pool was so perfect in the hot afternoons. We spent most of our time in the central indoor/outdoor kitchen. Such a beautiful place to call home. I also highly recommend breakfast with Mari! The food was delicious and she was just lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

I would happily stay here again! The location is quiet and short walking distance to all the restaurants in town. Oaxaca is an old rustic city & the house reflects the rustic aesthetic of the city. The house is a sleeper from the exterior. Once inside you see the biggest selling point of this house--4 separate spaces for guests to hang out. The kitchen is the central hub. The courtyard is green with vegetation and hummingbirds. The terrace overlooks the city and is amazing. Also on the 2nd floor is a sun deck and 2 person pool. The 3 bedrooms are spacious and 3 bathrooms are plenty. Master bedroom has ensuite bathroom and other large bedroom has bathroom just two steps away. The many gathering areas beat a hotel any day. Mari managed the property while we were there and you can arrange for in home prepared meals. Nothing short of AMAZING. Her mole equaled the Michelin star restaurants in town. We did tours with Zapotec Travel, which were great.

Loved our stay at Damien’s place. It’s very quiet and private but also easy walkable distance to the heart of the plaza for restaurants and shoppes. We especially enjoyed the plunge pool and deck in the morning w coffee and then set out in the afternoons for exploration. Yes, there is a hill on your return but quite manageable. The outdoor kitchen was perfect for making coffee, snacks, and cocktails. Damian also partners w a couple locals who were wonderful for driving, Nacho (Ignacio), and Mari for cooking or tending to anything needing to be looked at immediately. Highly recommend staying at Damian’s place and then enjoying beautiful Oaxaca, the kind people, the AMAZING food, and the inspiring art creativity. Muchas Gracias!! 🇲🇽🧡

This is a very unique and special place to stay in Oaxaca. The location is perfect for getting into Central Oaxaca. It was wonderful to have the alfresco living in March when it was warm and we could use the dip pool every day. It was great to hang out by the pool upstairs and look out at the lights of Oaxaca in the evening and watch the sunrise in the morning. Damien was very fast to respond when we needed a ride to the airport and in general, we would absolutely rent this place again when we return. We found that the kitchen and the upstairs area provided ample group gathering places for our family. We really appreciate the loving restoration of the house and the traditional architectural details.

We had an extraordinary experience Lovely space with a touch of magic. It all starts with the cobblestone street that doesn't have the traffic (and noise) of the rest of the city, that's already a Plus. It's a climb that's less heavy than it looks. Upon arrival, the façade goes unnoticed between the area's residential constructions. Entering is that you can see the contrast between the historic building and the remodeling so original and tasteful. The main space for living is the beautiful outdoor cuisine, as is custom and tradition in Oaxaca. In the morning, with a sweater it is enough for the little cold it is, and Mary's breakfast and the coffee, unparalleled. Sleeping on a bed from which I could see the starry sky, a design detail that inspires to dream. The very good and comfortable mattress and pillows. I 100% recommend to anyone who wants to have a personal connection experience away from the noise. Damián, an attentive, effective and friendly super host. We will be back soon!

Damian’s place is beautiful, and was a quick 15 minute walk to most of the downtown attractions in Oaxaca. The house itself is beautiful and well designed, and is great for everything from couples to larger groups. For heat sensitive guests, only one of the three bedrooms has AC, the others rely on fans and open doors for the cool Oaxaca nights (which can be a bit buggy). We didn’t find this a big issue though, and still totally loved our stay.

Host Response

Thank you for being such great guests, hope to host you again in the future! The A/C mention is important, and it is planned to have a second one installed for spring 2025 in the studio-room. The third room wil keep relying on roof and portable fans.

Damian's place was absolutely lovely - perhaps the most unique place we have stayed in. It was on a hill with a fantastic view of the city. The walk up to it on the cobblestones was not easy but well worth it. And Damian was the best host. We asked a lot of questions and he was very responsive. He gave us suggestions on places to see and even scheduled a taxi for us to the airport. And I can't say enough wonderful things about Mari. She made a unique, traditional breakfast for us every morning and each meal was fantastic!

Damian’s place was hands down the coolest AirBnb I’ve ever stayed in. The renovations to this historic home were so carefully designed and the open-air shared space was so gorgeous. We had three couples in our group and everyone raved about the comfy bed, linens, pillows, and awesome rooftop where we sipped complimentary mezcal. He even scheduled our taxis to/from the airport along with a homemade breakfast for us one morning. His home was about a 10 minute walk to the city center which was very doable! We did not have enough time and barely scratched the surface of this incredible city - we can’t wait to come back!

A really nice place. What you should know is that there is no inside communal space other than a futon in the largest bedroom - all of the communal spaces are outside. When we visited, it was cool, so sitting at the outside kitchen or the second story seating area didn't really work. Only one bedroom had a heater (I think) but Damian quickly had space heaters dropped off as it was cool/cold in the evening and overnight. Damian also let us store our bags on site on our last day as we flew out in the evening and still had some places we wanted to visit - huge help! Marie who came to do the breakfasts was lovely and very responsive to all requests. It would be a great place in the warm weather for families or groups as there's lots of space and different areas to enjoy. Was close to the areas to visit and would highly recommend. The little jug of mezcal was certainly appreciated and enjoyed!

This was our second year in a row staying with friends. Damian's place is an oasis both tucked away but uniquely positioned to access by foot the multitude of attractions and neighborhoods in the Centro. Its special layout and multiple levels make for a spacious retreat after a day of touring. Not to mention the incredible dunking pool perched overlooking the vista southwest--after a day of hiking in 90 degree sun. The villa boasts continued improvements to its finishes and architectural details--we look forward to our next opportunity to stay on Del Punto.

Espacio del Punto provides spacious and charming accommodations in a quiet neighborhood with very few tourists. It is situated on a small hill that provides delightful views over the city from the rooftop terrace. Most of the big attractions in the historic center are within a 10-minute walk. The home is bougie rustic. The owners have made significant investments in the structure and design of the home while preserving very traditional elements. The common areas, including the well-equipped kitchen, are outdoor spaces. The bedrooms are indoor spaces that surround the original courtyard and mature garden. Thick adobe walls keep the bedrooms cool during the day and warm at night. Modern touches include extensive steel work for the kitchen and rooftop terrace, meaning it provides a commercial grade structure for safety and security. All of this structural work is artistically blended with the traditional, rustic architecture.

We stayed at Damian's place a few weeks ago and we really enjoyed everything about the property. The house is a hidden gem and has everything you need to spend quality time with family and friends. The kitchen is well equipped and the rooms are large and beautiful. We brought our little dog with us and he enjoyed going from room to room, exploring the house 🐶 The house is located within walking distance from downtown area. There is a very good bakery and coffee shop just around the block for those early risers. We had a little hiccup with the house door, but Damian responded immediately and ensured that we got assisted immediately. We highly recommend Damian's house to everyone visiting Oaxaca. Thank you for your hospitality and thank you to Mary for the amazing breakfast.

This is a lovely place to stay. It's close to the centro but far enough away to be pretty quiet (Mexican cities are noisy!). The open-air kitchen, courtyard, bedrooms, and decks are all very pleasant. It's just a 10-15 minute walk to the Church of Santo Domingo and all the surrounding attractions (cultural museum, ethnobotanical garden, great restaurants and shops). I recommend a trip to Monte Alban, an amazing Zapotec-Mixtec site just outside the city. You can arrange a tour at the Hotel Quinta Real near the church (the hotel is in a former convent and is stunning. Also well worth a visit). We also really enjoyed a temescal (steam lodge) and massage arranged through Casa Bugambilias. First-time visitors to Oaxaca should know that the sidewalks in Mexico generally are treacherous--wear sneakers and leave your fancy shoes at home! It's a wonderful place. Mari, the breakfast cook, makes delicious breakfasts and is a ray of sunshine in the morning. Damian, the owner, was responsive.

The host is very nice and communicative but the place needs some maintenance and updates. Most of these are esthetic needs, like plastering, painting, weeding, covers on electrical junctions. The most amazing part was having Mari there to make breakfast. If you choose to stay here we highly recommend signing up for the additional breakfast daily. She’s also just such a wonderful person. The photos are not entirely unrealistic of the location, but definitely make it look as if it’s in better shape than it is. The pool is very small and not heated. While we were there it was too cold to swim in, sadly.

Host Response

I am glad you enjoyed your time in the house! We are constantly working on it to improve the experience, and thank you for your positive feedback. We will definitely check on the details you mention . Shortly we'll be instaling air conditioning in some of the rooms to bear the constant heat waves. We hope to see you again at Espacio del Punto!

We had a wonderful stay at Espacio del Punto. Located on a steep, quiet cobblestone residential street just outside of central Oaxaca, Damian's place is a historic colonial-era house with modern amenities seamlessly integrated. An open-air courtyard with a (covered) kitchen connects three bedrooms; above the kitchen, the second floor has a cooling splash pool and a spot to enjoy a nice view. Major points of interest in central Oaxaca are a 10-15 minute walk away, and basic amenities (a coffee shop, convenience store, and laundromat) are all within a block or two. We also had a wonderful, traditional Oaxacan breakfast cooked for us at the house our first morning there. Damian was extremely responsive and helpful, and was very kind in setting up the third bedroom as a playroom for our young daughter. Overall, highly recommend the home for anyone seeking a unique, comfortable place to stay in Oaxaca.

Relaxed, reset, and completely fulfilled. This was our first time in Oaxaca and it was AMAZING. In huge part, due to this wonderful home. We were 2 couples. Getting places walking took us 4-15 minutes typically. FYI, larger room has a bathroom thats door is just outside the bedroom in the courtyard, no trouble nor an issue. The slightly smaller room is still very ample and the bathroom is inside the room. Great space, always hot water. The half bath is a toilet in the courtyard for a quick need. Mari came to make us breakfast and was here when we arrived. Her food is delicious and she was so kind and good spirited. Clean, very clean space. No bug issues, we kept things clean and rinsed. Beds in the room are extremely comfortable. Nice and quiet little area tucked away from all the action. Felt safe and secure the whole time. Please know and be aware the home is uphill on a cobblestone road that can be quite grueling for some. Save cab fare if needed. Wi-Fi always worked. Magical place

An oasis in the bright busy ness of Oaxaca. The courtyard centered compound offered both privacy and opportunity for gathering on three levels. Amazing kitchen and upper deck with a perch like view.

We loved this indoor/mostly outdoor space!! It was a perfect place to enjoy a reunion with friends. It is a little bit like glamping. The outdoor kitchen was fantastic and full of quirky pieces. The view from the roof was amazing. The bedrooms are beautiful and huge. The location was close to everything yet still felt peaceful. We had a small mishap with an ornery cat. Damian was very responsive and came by (5 hr drive for him) to make us fresh bread and pizzas in that awesome clay oven. Talk about above and beyond! We had been in Oaxaca for several weeks before transitioning to Damian’s, so we had already scouted out the location. I’m not sure if it would be easy to find otherwise. We had stayed in 3 other locations in town and really loved the uniqueness of this space. We would definitely recommend if you are looking for a unique experience.

Rustic, hip, quirky, and arty. Cute residential neighborhood about 15 minutes walk from Alcala. Lovely courtyard, well-furnished raised outdoor kitchen. Two bedrooms and a staircase to a roof deck overlooking the Oaxacan hills. There is even a little plunge pool which occupied my kids for hours. Damian and Leti are lovely and super helpful with airplane flights, taxis, and questions. The breakfast chef, Mari, makes delicious homemade breakfasts of authentic Oaxacan food. We absolutely loved it. Highly, highly recommended to adventurous people who prioritize finding special places that have a local feel. If you are more interested in luxury accommodations with the same granite countertops and marble bathrooms that you can find anywhere, keep looking. But if you want a special experience, this place is amazing.

Great location, very quiet but also very close to the Centro. We really enjoyed our stay at Espacio del Punto. The courtyard is beautiful, as is the open air kitchen. Lots of coffee and coffee-making appliances (which we really appreciated). The bed and linens are very comfortable and good quality. Only thing we would have liked is a bit more security with the bedroom doors (they do lock, there’s a key for each room but anyone could open with a kick or a shove) but overall a good and very peaceful place to stay.

Damian’s place is an exceptional choice if you are traveling to Oaxaca. His place was a modern take on a traditional style building. It is in a great location, walkable to most things of interest. Just up the quiet, dead end street is a charming and delicious tlayuda spot. An amazing coffee and chocolate spot is at the other end of the block. Damian thought of many nice touches—coffee and mezcal in the kitchen, as well as fresh fruit. Mary makes an excellent breakfast, and Sophia provides a nice healing massage. While there isn’t a living room space, per se, the open kitchen was a great place to hang and to watch the rain, and the central courtyard has unbeatable charm. The upper deck provided a lovely view of the city, and was a great place to relax in a hammock. Bedrooms were spacious and cool, especially since you can leave them open to the inner courtyard. One has an en suite bathroom and the other is just a few steps away. Fans were available. Beds were comfy!!

Host Response

I'm glad you enjoyed your time. Thank you for chosing our place!

The best corner of Oaxaca! The accommodation is spacious and pleasant and its peculiar location on a dead-end street provides a unique environment away from the noise yet right in the heart of beautiful Oaxaca. Damián's architecture fuses the magical world of the region with the functionality, lighting and design of contemporary architecture, with clear allusions to culture, art, and care for the environment. The small pool provided great refreshment after long walking days and the chill-out roof area was much appreciated. The host was very kind and his team kept the space clean and functional at all times. I emphasize that it is a fantastic place for groups, since the rooms have independent access to the central patio, which along with the open kitchen offers an excellent common area.

Damian’s place was probably my favorite Airbnb I’ve stayed at. The house was stunning and in the perfect location. Close enough to walk into to the center but far enough away that it was quiet. The whole house was beautifully designed especially the kitchens! The pool is definitely more of a bathing pool that’s perfect to cool off from the heat mid day. The kitchen was spacious and the perfect place for all five of us to sit and have breakfast together in the morning. Also the personal touches were lovely! Fresh mangoes, local coffee, and mezcal! Lots of drinkable water was also provided for us. The rooms never got hot at night and the Wi-Fi was strong. Will definitely be coming back!
