Paradise! I felt like a local living in a luxury but still very traditional and authentic place. You can tell the love that was put into this hotel. All the details were beautiful, the decor. the atmosphere... I can't say enough. the staff was so nice, Ori took care of my airport pick up and reception took care of me when I left. I had a relaxing 3 nights. it rained one evening and the power went out for like an hour or so... but even that was magical. I sat on my private balcony and just watched the rain disconnected and peaceful. breakfast was yummy too! Will stay again and will recommend.

We got in early and were able to check in several hours early at no additional cost. The place felt like a retreat! It was so quiet and relaxing. The place walkable distance to town and the tour we booked. We were pleasantly surprised we had a room with an ocean view. We knew it was steps away but the view took our breath away! The staff on site were so friendly and the breakfast was exactly what I needed (fresh fruits and omelette to order)

What an amazing property with stunning views of the ocean and gardens. A complete “pura vida” vibe. Loveliest place we’ve stayed in Costa Rica. Friendly staff and impeccably clean rooms. Great patio to enjoy outside your room. Breakfast in the mornings served in the restaurant, additional cost- healthy options with lots of fruit, homemade bread, eggs made to your liking. Parking out front of the hotel. Montezuma Waterfalls right across the street which is a great hike. This felt like a retreat, somewhere to decompress and relax. Lots of places to relax on the property, sun loungers, day bed, Adirondack chairs and hammocks. I can’t wait to come back!

A very nice hotel with an excellent view.

I can only highly recommend the Oris Hotel: a magical place with a beautifully maintained garden area right by the sea, spotlessly clean, charming rooms with cozy balconies that also overlook the sea, palm trees, colorful plants – a tropical dream! The air conditioning has served us well. You also absolutely must not miss the varied breakfast! If you're coming to Montezuma, you've found the perfect place with Oris Hotel!

Such a cozy, homey place. Right on the ocean, beautiful plants and design. We saw monkeys while parking our car! Healthy home cooked breakfast option daily. Karina made us feel so welcome and gave us tons of recommendations of things to do. Would definitely come back :)

Host Response

Thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re so happy you enjoyed the oceanfront setting, the gardens, and those playful monkeys. It’s wonderful to hear you felt at home. We’d be delighted to host you again anytime!

The place is beautiful, the surroundings and the hotel itself are breathtaking. A magnificent garden, ocean views, a rushing river and jungle in the window… each room allows you to contemplate nature from the terrace or balcony. You can see at every turn that someone has put their whole heart into this place. There are plenty of flowers, handmade decorations and the hotel's construction itself is a work of art. I'm so glad we could spend time there.

Hotel Amor de Mar was the last leg of our Costa Rica trip. The hotel and grounds were absolutely beautiful and the staff very welcoming, helpful and communicative both in person and through chat. The location is great, just a short walk to town with restaurants, super, shops and beach easily accessible. Naomi was so great helping us with recommendations and connecting us with Spicy Tuna for an affordable fishing trip. We had so much fun and caught tons of yellowfin. Everyone at the hotel including Fabiola was kind and happy to help. Don’t skip the breakfast - everything is amazing. If you want to experience Montezuma I’d highly recommend Hotel Amor de Mar. Pura Vida!

This place is a gem! A small hotel on a beautiful, well-kept site by the ocean. The place feels very private and calm although it’s only a short walk away from all the restaurants and other services. Rooms are comfortable and have AC. Breakfast menu had a lot of delicious and fresh options. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I can’t say enough nice things about this place. If you are going to Montezuma, you must stay here. Would definitely come again.

A wonderful stay in Montezuma at Amor de Mar. The hotel grounds are beautiful, rooms comfortable and well equipped with everything Montezuma has to offer on your doorstep. Our hosts gave us plenty of recommendations and helped us to book a tour to Isla Tortuga for snorkelling and relaxation on an uninhabited island (not to be missed!). One of my favourite places in Costa Rica and I can't wait to return. Pura Vida

We only stayed one night but would have liked to have been there longer. We hiked around in the Cabo Blanco nature reserve and stopped at the Indigenous chocolate place. The town of Montezuma was a short walk from our location and the waterfall right across the street. It's definitely a good location. We enjoyed the local artwork and the pretty front yard to the ocean. The room was small but had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable.

This is such a beautiful and romantic boutique hotel in the lovely Montezuma. It’s right on the water which makes the view pristine. Svenja was a wonderful host and concierge that helped us coordinate transportation via ATV. Getting an ATV is highly recommended so you can drive around to Santa Teresa, Mal Pais, Cabuya, and Cabo Blanco National Park. We had such great adventures on our 4 days in Montezuma we wish we stayed a few more nights!

Beautiful hotel, peaceful & scenic. Just outside town enough to feel exclusive and private, with just a 5 minute walk into the centre of montezuma for dinner / drinks. The accommodation was beautiful, lovely breakfasts, beautiful tropical garden with multiple shaded relaxation areas. Staff were lovely, very accommodating if you needed anything. Thank you!

This is a lovely well designed room in a hotel. The bed was very comfortable and we liked the styling and decor. The room and bathroom are a great size and plenty of storage. It's a fab location and the garden and sea views are probably unmatched in this area. It was fantastic to chill in a hammock and watch pelicans glide by! Only a short walk to nearby restaurants and shops as well and very close to the waterfall. In the other direction you have some lovely beaches to choose from too. The staff are all very friendly and helpful! Only downsides were the room is right by where breakfast is so it's difficult to get a lie in as you can hear everyone in the morning, the fridge in the room is so loud we had to unplug it to sleep. Go surfing while you're in Montezuma, it's brilliant for beginners on playa grande!

Amazing spot!

It was a great place with beautiful surroundings and relaxing. It was nice having a restaurant downstairs to order breakfast and amazing coffee. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. It was stressful dealing with our rental car being broken into on our first night, but the hotel grounds were great while we were waiting to get a rental car replacement all day. There are some restaurants and shops about 10 minutes walk away, but a lot of restaurants and services were closed due to winter period. The summer season starts in 2 weeks. Overall it was a great stay minus the car break in. We were lucky I guess they didn’t manage to steal the car. I would definitely come here again without a rental car.

Amazing stay! If you are going to Montezuma this is your place. Above expectations. The view alone is worth it. I laid in the hammock, and watched the sunrise over the ocean. Gorgeous! Had a couple of monkeys stop by my balcony to welcome me in…that was awesome. lol. Montezuma waterfall is literally across the street. Not too long of a hike at all. There is a great little restaurant about 200 m down the street that serves amazing food. (Great recommendation from the front desk.) There is a guard on duty on night which is nice. Overall, I would give it 10 stars if I could.

My partner and I had a magical stay at Amor de Mar. Honestly the pictures don’t do the place justice. Our favourite part was the outside field that goes directly into the ocean. Its a very wide space with grass, several hammocks, deck chairs, an outside shower and a natural tide pool. We saw many animals as well (monkeys, iguanas and squirrels). The room had a private balcony with an amazing view on the trees and the ocean. The staff is also extremely kind and welcoming, they helped us book tours and gave us useful tips on restaurants and transportation for our next stop. The place is special, I would definitely go back!

Our stay at Amor de Mar was magical! The hotel itself is so beautiful…a work of art, really. Cafe is such a special place with intricate art on the columns and colorful tile accents. Food:coffee was delicious. The grounds are lush and welcoming with hammocks/lounge chairs. The sun rise over the ocean was breathtaking. Our room (Orchid) had a lovely balcony which became our peaceful oasis every evening. Staff is on premises daily and very helpful. We did a Zuma snorkeling tour which we’d recommend. And Soda de Los Palmieras was good. And Butterfly Brewing was nice also. We visited in early June. Hiked the waterfall across the street. Also hiked Cabo Blanco nature preserve which was interesting. Both were nice but super hot/humid for us senior citizens (60 yo). We walked along the coast to Playa Grande which was lovely. And we drove to the Cholla waterfall for the short hike. It was muddy and buggy but really pretty once you reached the falls and the beach. Loved our stay so much!

We love to visit this place even once a year. It's beautiful , there's a lot of peace and lots of things to know around it too

The main selling point and best feature of this hotel was the location. The view overlooking the sea was stunning with lots of quiet places to relax and chill in the shade or the sun. It was directly opposite the start of the walk to the Montezuma waterfall, so you could literally go straight out of the hotel and start the trail. It was also within a good walking distance to the town with restaurants - good thing as there was no food on site bar breakfast (not included in costs) and no where to store or make own food. The only watch out was none of the windows locked and could easily be opened from outside the room, which didn’t make us feel comfortable leaving our stuff in the room.

Oh this was just so beautiful, I absolutely will be back one day and I will be telling everyone I know who even considers Costa Rica somewhere they may visit one day that they must come here! What an incredible location, exactly as described except possibly even better! The room was very clean and comfy, the bathroom was super nice too! Someone in the room before me had complained that the mini fridge was too loud, which personally I did not notice or take issue with, but the staff were super considerate and checked with me to make sure I was comfortable and content with it which I just think is above and beyond! You absolutely must come stay at Ori’s place!!

Beautiful property in a great location. You can walk to many beaches, restaurants, shops, etc. but you are away from the noise of central Montezuma. The gardens are gorgeous, and the tide pool was fun to swim in. Breakfast was delicious. Staff is very friendly. If you are not a very early riser, I would suggest either booking a room on the second floor or bringing ear plugs; at 5:45 both mornings I heard the guest above me walking around heavily, and the dining area being prepared. Other than that, my stay was perfect.
