Excellent accommodation and service. The views are spectacular. A perfect place to clear your mind.

This was the last stop on our 10-day CR vacation and it was the perfect way to end the trip. It was so nice to spread out and feel that spacious air in the penthouse after a week of being in more quaint spaces. GORGEOUS 180+ degree view of the lake. My favorite part was wandering downstairs for meals and drinks at the first floor restaurant that were all so delicious. Everyone we met were so kind… from -Nixon, who greeted us at check in, to -Tyler, who chatted with us quite a bit in the app and helped us link up with -Kooky, our driver for exploring town, to our sweet waitress in the restaurant. Even their dogs befriended us! Jacko joined us for a walk and Lucas kept us company at dinner. This last experience made it so hard to leave this beautiful country. Absolutely would return! WOW.

Xinia’s place was amazing. First and foremost is the view, absolutely stunning and breathtaking. Seeing the lake from that perspective, with the sunset and sunrise was incredible. The place was also extremely clean and quiet and we had no issues at all with anything during our stay. Checking in was really easy and the staff at the restaurant were very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend and we can’t wait to get back there and stay again.

The views from this property are absolutely breathtaking and were the highlight of our stay. The panoramic views of Arenal Lake and the surrounding mountains and volcanoes felt like stepping into a postcard. The peaceful setting and natural beauty alone make this place worth visiting. Our check-in was ultimately made possible by George at the restaurant. He was kind, professional, and helpful in getting the check-in process sorted out. We were very grateful for his assistance. The restaurant was another highlight of our stay. The food and service were excellent.

The setting was stunning. Sunsets across the lake. The climate perfect. We opened the doors to the patio when we arrived and only closed them when we left. No bugs and Goldilocks temperatures. The unit itself was as described and more than adequate. The staff at the location went above and beyond (Jerry-rigging wires to start a dead battery for example). The adjacent restaurant high quality and a good location. Highly recommend a stay.

Very quiet location. It is out of town a little ways so a car is needed, but you probably have one to get there anyway. It is a family run business and the whole family was very helpful and attentive to our needs. The barking dogs were annoying, but they are everywhere in Costa Rica. Restaurant was fabulous. Awesome steaks and burgers. It was raining our entire stay, but this is not a fault of the host. The gardens are well kept and beautiful. Our room was not the one we signed up for, but they went out of their way to put us and our guests in separate rooms. Some issues with the television, but we did not come here to watch TV. All in all a great place to stay for a couple nights to check out the swinging bridges and volcano.

Can’t say enough about this hidden gem. Originally we were going to stay 2 nights and then move on but we loved the place so much we stayed and made it home base for an additional 4 days. Breathtaking views of Lake Arenal especially at sunset. The food was SPECTACULAR and the service even better. You can order food from the restaurant and they will bring it right up to your room. Jorge was the highlight of our trip! He was funny, attentive, and just a vibrant energy to be around. He always had a smile on his face and extreme friendly. They have 3 dogs on the property and Luka was by far our favorite. He loved to join us for our little walks. We had been in CR for about 10 days before we arrived here and Cindy was kind enough to allow us a laundry service for a very small fee. Can’t express how much we appreciated it. This place truly is a must stay. Loved everything about it and can’t wait to go back. Thank You for everything!

This place is a good base if you're out exploring the area the whole time and only using it to sleep, I would not say it's somewhere to post up and spend a lot of time. I can see what they're trying to do with the space, from a practical perspective it's an excellent location, the views were spectacular, lots of birds to see from just the balcony, they have a restaurant right next door (food/drinks were good too!) but the space itself is just not very well laid out for 2 people and it felt a little run down. The second "bedroom" is the main living area, there's more beds than seating and you enter/exit through a bedroom. For the price, the amenities could benefit from a little updating. A little nicer coffee machine/fridge freezer/TV. The Internet was fast. It's a working location, so we were woken up early by things like chainsaws and dogs barking. The whole building is very unforgiving with sound. Other guests would slam doors etc and could easily be heard.

The unit was very clean and had the most amazing view of the lake! The restaurant below had great food and service and they also offered to deliver up to the unit. I would highly recommend for a relaxing getaway !

My family enjoyed our stay. Spacious, clean, peaceful, and beautiful view off the lake. The restaurant 😍 5 star. The view and food left us speechless.

We spent one night there. This place is roomy and has everything we needed. However, the place is right next to a restaurant so it’s rather noisy even after midnight. The place has a strange smell. I had to go to sleep with earplugs and a face mask. Me and my parents woke up with multiple bugs bites. This is towards the end of our trip and we have only gotten bug bites at this place. Recommend putting on anti bug bites before going to bed.

Host Response

Located on the lake with lovely views. We could not stay in the apartment we booked in - as we were told 30 mins prior to our arrival that it was double booked. Cindy provided alternate sleeping arrangements or a refund. But we had no choice but to accept the rooms provided - it was too late to look for alternate hotels and drive when it was getting dark. Positives: Location was amazing, lovely restaurant on the premise, car parking Negatives: Very noisy - until midnight, was told AirBnB made a mistake with the booking and double booked us, bitten by things in the bed

Getting to the hotel was interesting as the roads are 4x4 worthy coming from La Fortuna - when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by how welcoming the bartender Jorge was ! He was fantastic the entire stay - this man needs a raise ! The room was very Costa Rica typical with bright colours and an incredible view of Lago Arenal. 2 screens were ripped on our patio door - which did let in a few gecko friends and hormigas. I did request the screen to be fixed and was told it ‘didn’t affect the room’. No AC meant if we left the door closed we lost the breeze coming from the lake .. we chose to accept our gecko friends HIGHLIGHT: the restaurant was delicious, great portions and Jorge was a fantastic waiter! We had apps drinks and mains for a little under 200$ USD so prepare to spend if you visit - for us it was the best meal we’ve had in CR thus far ! Overall, we did enjoy our stay and recommend anyone try out the restaurant below the hotel for a 10/10 experience

Waking up to such a beautiful view of the lake was definitely the highlight of this place. I really enjoyed our stay. Cindy and the staff were very friendly and honestly have nothing negative to say about this place. Cindy was an amazing host making sure that we were pleased with our stay. Thank you Cindy for being so quick to respond to our questions and concerns. I do have a video of the amazing view in my Tik Tok @iamyanigarcia for more details of the room.

overall a nice place to stay, especially great large terrace or balcony covered overlooking the lake. A few more investments (better windows and insect screens, AC, thorough cleaning) would make this place a real gem. We didn't like a few things so much: shower didn't work properly (only boiling hot water came out), despite please no one came by to fix it. Cleanliness could have been better for our needs (some dirty dishes, dead insects were lying around, rotting kitchens/shelves and tables/chairs, dusty lamps, dirty curtains). There is no AC, only a fan on the ceiling and on the first day there was still a fan to put it, which was simply removed while we were not in the accommodation. We had some bad luck with noisy neighbors (several Airbnbs in the area), Cindy went for peace and quiet.

We stayed in the penthouse and it was very large and well furnished. The view over the lake from the large balcony is amazing. The place is a little isolated down a dirt track with the very small town some 1.5km away. Supermarkets are very limited in items, especially fresh food, so if you want to self cater plan ahead and maybe shop in La Fortuna en route. Kitchen is well stocked to self cater. Beds are very comfortable and fans and open windows keep the room cool enough to sleep. No toiletries other than hand soap provided. There is a restaurant on site but we thought it was very expensive, with breakfast $18 per person and the cheapest main meal in the evening being pizza starting at $16 and going to a whopping $33 - how a pizza is justified at that price is beyond me. However the view from the restaurant is lovely. Alternative restaurants do exist in the town with Moya’s Place having live music (average food) and Restaurante La Casa de Dona Celina being the best value.

Bluebay Penthouse made our trip to Lake Arenal and the rainforest even better. The house is over Tinajas Restaurant where the food and drinks are amazing. The staff is so friendly. Cindy and Tyler, our hosts, helped so much with tour advice. We could have slept more people, but the place was great for a romantic getaway for two as well. The views from the main porch are to die for. We didn't stray far from the place because it was so beautiful. There were screens on the windows so we let the fresh air in with no worry of insects. A great trip.

The setting was 5 stars, with one of the most beautiful sunsets any of us had ever seen. The view of the lake was spectacular and peaceful. And we loved seeing and hearing all the birds. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious and we would definitely recommend it. On the negative side, the place was not as advertised. The listing indicated 1.5 bathrooms and there was only 1 full bathroom. It also indicated 2 bedrooms but one of the bedrooms was actually in the living space of the open kitchen and living room. We found the furnishings were very dated. It's very challenging to rate our stay - we felt this was 3-star accommodation in a 5-star setting with a 4.5 rating for the restaurant.

My girlfriend and I loved our stay. The location was everything you could hope for on the beautiful Lake Arenal. The restaurant down stairs was fantastic and the sunset you get from the rooms or the restaurant are phenomenal! I highly recommend staying here is will definitely be a return stay when we find ourselves back in Costa Rica!

Pros - the apartment is exactly as described. The lake views and breeze are clutch for cool air at night and to keep away the bugs. The patio is private. The restaurant downstairs fed us every night we got done with our day’s activities, and we loved every dish we ordered. The sun rises over the volcano and sets over the lake. Both views were spectacular! The shower is oversized with plenty of hot water. We didn’t use the kitchen, but it looked stocked with coffee and cookware. Cons - The cons are out of the hosts’ control. Light sleepers might have a hard time with random dogs barking throughout the night. The windows have to stay open for the breeze (which we loved). Also, if you are spending most of your time in La Fortuna, the drive gets old, but, after a day around a lot of people, the drive was worth the tranquility. The road is narrow and curvy so not for someone who gets motion sickness in cars. 5 stars for my partner and I!

The place was just as shown in the pictures. Very spacious inside with high a ceiling and a really, really beautiful balcony with amazing sunset view, although the balcony could use some love and a fee comfortable loungers as the plastic chairs provided were okay to sit on for a few minutes but not all too comfortable and didn‘t do much for the ambiente. Overall, the location is amazing. Quick side note: check the bed for ants before going to sleep. We had already slept one night in the main bed and only then realised that there was an ant road along the top of the mattress. We understand that we‘re out in nature and as there are other beds in the place it wasn‘t a big deal for us, but it‘s worth having a quick look before you go to sleep to be sure. The restaurant on the ground floor is super delicious and the hosts were all in all very accommodating and asked about our stay proactively. We felt welcome. Can recommend this place, especially if you travel on a budget and by car.

You couldn’t ask for a better view, it was extraordinarily beautiful ! The weather was a huge mix bag, and made even more extraordinary. The housecleaning and the laundry service was more than I ever expected. The restaurant downstairs was incredible, a little pricey, but I suppose worth every colon. I did read a review early on before I booked Blue Bay penthouse, that the restaurant was a bit noisy on the weekends. I didn’t experience that at all and I was there for one month. perfect place to stay…😎👍 did I forget to mention that Cindy is an extraordinary person ! I love that word 😋

Easy checkin with Cindy! Spacious room, basic kitchen utensils, beds were comfortable, and seating outside was ok. Location is at the end of the road - so you can walk to lake in 2 locations. ONLY downfall - this room is above/next to the restaurant (which was good) - but you do have extra noise and lighting. And finally - the front window has sheer curtains, so anyone passing by can get a nice look into your room. We used G**gl* maps to find the location or else I would have been worried I turned down the wrong dirt road. Restaurants that are close are max 10min - other than the one right next door.

We fell in love with this place. The view of the lake and surrounding hills is incredible, and the apartment is spacious, clean and had everything we needed. The big balcony was the place to start the day with a morning coffee seeing the rising sun, and also the place to enjoy the sunset after a busy day of adventure in the area. We also enjoyed the restaurant and had dinner there several days during our stay. The climate at the lake is just perfect, no need for air conditioning and we got to fall asleep listening to the soft breeze. So lovely to spend some days here after the scorching hot coast. And if that wasn't enough, the host Cindy was both friendly and very helpful. Highly recommended!

Absolutely stunning view of the lake. We came in the rainy season so couldn't see the volcano but can only imagine how beautiful it must look. We only stayed one night but spent the afternoon on the balcony, overlooking the lake and enjoying a beautiful sunset. The flat is very clean and the restaurant below is delicious and good value.

Everything was magical beautiful place. It was an incredible experience, waking up every morning to enjoy coffee on the patio hearing the birds and everything was just a spec tech killer site. The lake was incredible. The only thing that I could say in a negative manner is that we had dogs chewing up the front mat and barking in front of our door and barking all night. Not sure why, but that was something that was a little disturbing. For two nights in a row, I had to get out of bed at least three or four times and yell outside to tell the dogs to shut up but the place was delightful. My family and I enjoyed it that I could’ve done without the dogs, barking and getting solid rest.
