Tuani ecoLodge
The Space
Tuani Lodge consists of a three-story house featuring a full kitchen, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms. Additionally, there are three separate two-story bungalows on the property. Each bungalow includes a private bathroom, one queen-sized bed, and three twin-sized beds.
Guests can choose to stay either in a bungalow or in a private bedroom within the main house. The private bedrooms in the house each contain one queen-sized bed, accommodating up to two people. The kitchen, patio, and outdoor areas are shared among all renters.
Location
The estate is situated on a hillside just above the Rio Murcielago riverbed. This unique and secluded setting is close enough to the ocean to hear the waves crashing during the rainy season. The riverbed is usually dry except during the heavy rains in June and October.
Nearby Attractions
The Rio Murcielago river flows directly to the consistent and reliable surf breaks at Panga Drops. A forest hiking trail runs alongside the river, leading to the beach. This trail offers an excellent opportunity to observe the local flora and fauna in the area.

I stayed at Tuani Ecolodge for 30 days, and it was honestly a very special experience. From the beginning, they made me feel welcome and at home, which is not easy when you’re staying that long. The place is beautiful, surrounded by nature, peaceful, and perfect if you want to disconnect and recharge. Everything is simple but well taken care of, and you can really feel the intention behind the project. What stood out the most to me was the people. They were always kind, helpful, and genuinely cared about making my stay comfortable. If you’re looking for a quiet, authentic, and nature-connected experience, I highly recommend it. I would definitely come back!!

The casitas are beautiful and very remote. You definitely need a 4x4 to access. Unfortunately the lodge is located outside Hacienda Iguana and therefore the amenities of the gated community are not accessible to guests of the lodge. My family (wife and 3yr daughter) took the foot path from the lodge to the beach which took about 20 mins. The path is not marked very well so it required some guess work to arrive at the beach. We walked down the beach towards Hacienda Iguana and were rudely greated by security who told us we were not welcomed to use the beach or surf one of the best waves in Nicaragua and that we had to leave immediately. Unfortunately we did not end up staying the night as the main reason to stay was surf and dinner. The owner was nice enough to give us a full refund due to this miscommunication, which was greatly appreciated. Unreal location with less than desirable neighbors.

The place is very beautiful with a nice garden and 20 minutes walk from the beach. To come there you need a strong truck because the last part of the road was very bad. We had some party sounds from the neighbors one night but for the rest it was peaceful. The first night the Howler monkeys were in the tree next to the house screaming before dawn so that was a short night... The caretaker Tilson is very helpful, friendly and smiley. He lives there too with his wife and daughter and you share every area (except your room of course) with them although they tried to give us space by sitting somewhere else. Maria Renee was nice and tried to help us from a distance when there was no water anymore. The problem was not on the property so she couldn't help it but the response time was a few times more than 24 hours. We decided to leave after 2 nights because of the lack of water, Maria Renee gave us a refund for the last night

Very good stay for the price, no AC but still comfortable with the fan on, about a 20 minute walk the beach, but great for surfers because you can still access playa colorados.
