The Space
Casa Kilimanjaro is a rustic retreat situated in one of the most remarkable locations in Manuel Antonio. This single-story home offers an ideal layout, featuring an inviting pool and some of the finest ocean and mountain views in the area.
The house includes four bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom and ceiling fans. It also has a fully equipped kitchen and an outdoor shower. The property spans six acres and is perched atop a rainforest-covered hill, making it one of the most secluded estates in Manuel Antonio.
This home is perfect for guests who appreciate natural beauty and wildlife over luxury finishes and nightlife. It provides a peaceful setting to relax by the pool while enjoying panoramic mountain-to-ocean vistas or observing local wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, toucans, and scarlet macaws.
Layout and Features
An electric gate opens to a long driveway shaded by a large mango tree, leading past the caretaker’s casita up to the hilltop. Although the driveway is somewhat steep, a four-wheel-drive vehicle is not necessary. Ample parking is available at the top.
The house is shaped like a large rectangle with bedrooms located in three corners and the kitchen and garage in the fourth. The interior is designed with an open concept, featuring large sliding glass doors on both sides to promote airflow. The living area connects seamlessly to a covered outdoor patio equipped with a traditional barbecue and smoker.
Two steps down from the patio lead to the pool area, which includes twin pool decks perfect for relaxing in the afternoon. Guests can also enjoy hammocks and poolside furniture.
Bedroom Details (clockwise from entrance):
- Bedroom 1 (northwest): 2 single beds
- Bedroom 2 (northeast): 1 queen bed and 1 single bed
- Bedroom 3 (southeast): 1 queen bed and 1 single bed
- Bedroom 4 (southwest): 1 single bed and bunk beds (single beds)
- Living area: Queen sofa bed
Casa Kilimanjaro suits those who enjoy glamping, privacy, practical layouts, and breathtaking views.
Guest Access
The entire property is private. A caretaker and his family live in a separate small home near the entrance, but their presence does not interfere with the privacy of the main house.
Additional Information
- Pets and service animals are not permitted on the property. Guests arriving with pets or service animals will be denied access.
- There is no air conditioning in the house. Temperatures can become warm in the afternoons, especially during the dry season months of March and April.

The house is super comfortable! Each room with its own bathroom and a super large common area! The kitchen is very well equipped. The swimming pool with a panoramic view is picture-perfect, and the animals give it a special charm. We highly recommend staying here!

This place was overall amazing! 1000/10! Great views and amenities and would definitely stay here again. But just a couple of things I wish I knew and didn’t see much of them in the comments so I hope this helps the next guests. 1. If you don’t rent a car & decide to use uber, it can be a little difficult because on the uber app, you can’t find the house so you have to put a location nearby for drop off and then talk to the uber drivers and explain (some weren’t too happy they had to go up the hill to the house). 2. There is no AC, which is clearly explained when booking but don’t be scared, we were not uncomfortably hot at all. At nighttime, there is a lot of breeze if you open all the sliding doors & each room has 2 standing fans and a ceiling fan. You’ll only feel a little hot during the daytime. 3. The iguanas :(. Sooo many of them! They don’t go inside the house but you can see them all over the pool and you can hear them on the roof all morning running around.

Kent’s place was phenomenal for our family stay in Costa Rica. The house is large and open with plenty of space. The pool & view is incredible and we spent a lot of time out there-as it is very hot! He had multiple fans in each room which was appreciated… definitely need those. This is a great place with privacy and gorgeous nature, very peaceful!

Overall, our family would rate Casa Killmanjaro 7/10. The location is very private and quiet with beautiful scenery, and the pool is fantastic! That's about where it ends, though. There are several things that are beyond the owners control, but did put a slight damper on the experience such as iguana poop EVERYWHERE! Iguanas were there the minute you walk out the door, they were hanging from the gutters/roof, and there were even a couple living inside the grill/smoker. Needless to say, we didn't dare attempt to do any grilling. Additionally, since it is a "rustic, open-air" villa, there were countless bugs that came to visit like massive moths, lots of cockroaches, geckos, and on the very first night there, we encountered a scorpion. Many of the amenities could stand to be updated as the photos are gorgeous, but no longer match the exact appearance. I did, however, appreciate the quick responses that I received during our communication with Kent. All-in-all, we had a decent stay.

We had a great time at Casa Kilimanjaro. The view from the pool over the mountains is magnificent, and we even had the chance to see a family of titi monkeys pass right in front of us. The surrounding nature is beautiful. A few iguanas guard the house 😉 No air conditioning, but natural ventilation works well with the windows open (mosquito nets everywhere) and all the fans provided. The kitchen is very well equipped .

Casa Kilimanjaro is in a beautiful location and the pool is nice. It is a little far from town and up a steep hill. There is no AC but there are lots of fans and if you open up the large doors and let the air flow across the pool and through the house then it was warm but comfortable.
