Pictures never do justice to the experience, and this was another example, it was stunning, with nature all around, from iguanas on the steps to coati having a curious look around and white face monkeys! There is genuinely too much to list where 1000 characters wouldn’t be enough. The villa and surroundings were tropical, so peaceful yet close enough for all the days out we had to experience the wonderful delights of the weather coast of Costa Rica. The villa is stunning and surrounded by glorious enriched jungle, with sounds of nature 24hrs, the car port is greatly appreciated to keep the sun off the car. I would go back in a heartbeat with my family to enjoy again, everyone is so nice and welcoming including the 24hr security guards at the entrance to the complex. Thank you Derek, for the most amazing experience at your beautiful home. Advice: rent a 4x4 truck you will thank me later, deet spray to keep mosquitoes away and allow yourself to sink into nature and just enjoy!

The house is beautiful, the location is optimal. We had a magical time in Esterillos, which is wonderfully quiet in July but has everything you need (shops, restaurants and beautiful beaches). It is also within easy reach of activities and more touristy places. The house offers a wonderful retreat in nature. We regularly received visits from iguanas, a curious, absolutely harmless coati, and there were sometimes toucans on a large tree behind the house, and when it rained, a poison dart frog would hop around. The house is simply wonderful. The communication with Derek and the local management was optimal. You can also organize everything through them, from car rentals to excursions. It couldn't be easier. We can only recommend a stay. Two weeks were too short for us. Next time, we will plan more time. Thank you very much for everything!

Wow, where to start. The property is incredibly beautiful and is completely unobstructed by neighbors. There are guards at the entrance who are very thorough. The house itself is large and our children each had their own room with a large bathroom and walk-in closet. Our bedroom had a larger walk-in closet than some of our rooms at home😂 The beds were comfortable. The pool area is huge and beautiful and the wildlife around is quite eminent. We became very close with the iguanas. Not Tim (our name for the big male), though, who was very territorial. One of the iguanas came up and basked on the lounger right next to us. We were visited by monkeys, parrots, coati, squirrels and iguanas. The pool was lovely and we had the best vacation ever. There were some minor problems with the kitchen appliances that management couldn't fix.

I can’t say enough good things about our stay at the house. The pictures do not do it justice. Each of the bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom, everything felt very clean, the community is very friendly, and we all felt very safe with the security guards on the property. The highlight is the back deck overlooking the jungle and pool. We saw cappucian and squirrel monkeys, iquanas, coatis, blue morpho butterflies, parrots, leaf bugs, tamandua anteater, and many other types of birds all from the back deck! I would suggest trying to arrive while it’s still light out. We thought the security check-in was a house as it’s a very nice looking structure. This was our first time in Costa Rica and it was truly magical. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

We had a great time in Costa Rica. The villa is nestled in the middle of lush nature in a private residence of 150 Ha. The management service is available to give you all the necessary details for check-in and living in the villa. All the necessary equipment is present and the air conditioning makes it possible to spend cool nights. It's a paradise for lovers of calm and nature. Every day, you can have the opportunity to see monkeys, coatis, iguanas, parrots, blue morpho butterflies... The jungle surrounding the villa is lush. The pool will allow you to cool off and relax because the sun can be intense in this area. We had some technical problems with the home appliances that were taken care of within 24 hours by the property management service. Beautiful villa. Thanks Derek!

Derek's home is stunning, truly is in the middle of the jungle with beautiful views from inside and on the glorious patio. Swimming while listening to the birds and who knows what other creatures out there was amazing. Honestly we heard more creatures than we saw but we had two iguanas out front and by the pool every morning (Tim and George) which was very cool. The home is close to many good restaurants ("sodas" as they call them), that we barely used the kitchen. Don't miss Empanadas y Mas just down the road. The bedrooms were large, comfortable beds, huge walk-in closets and showers. Felt safe. One mistake we made when we arrived in San Jose was driving to Derek's home in the dark. I strongly recommend against this. Some of the roads are quite curvy and narrow. Plus, we ran into a lot of construction traffic. For sure take the toll road route if coming in the dark. Karla, the house manager, rocked! Anything we needed, she took care of it. She responded to texts within minutes.

The house and setting overall were stunning, set in the middle of the jungle off the beaten path. We were visited most days by coati’s, capuchin monkeys, iguana’s, with an adjacent fruit bearing tree being a popular feeding spot. The house was very spacious and well furnished and the outdoor patio and pool deck were amazing. Although the house overall is stunning, it is starting show it’s age or lack of maintenance, it certainly needs a little work and TLC in a few areas. The kitchen amenities, while providing the basics, could also do with some investment, with some new pots and pans, cutlery etc. Overall, we had a fab time and really enjoyed the solace of the jungle surroundings and the great outdoor space and surrounding nature.
