This is not a resort or gated community, ...
This unique property, brimming with history, sits right on the beach in the middle of a fishing village. This is not a resort, but a beach house in the midst of Nicaraguan life. Designed for outdoor living. Use the outdoor kitchen to grill up the lobster, snapper, mahi mahi, tuna, or mackerel of the day. Each room has its own AC and bathroom. Sleep to the sound of the waves. Walk or boat to the many nearby surfbreaks. The house has a cat that stays in outside areas, not indoors. The space This is a very unique, rustic beach house. You will feel like you have stepped back in time and been transformed to a different place. Immerse yourself in a book or in local culture. Talk a short walk to buy fish from local fisherman, enjoy sundowners in local restaurants, or simply stroll down local beaches. At a whim, jump in the ocean (it is 10 meters from the house), and rinse off in outdoor showers. Contract local boats for fishing, surfing, and beach days. Walk to local surf breaks. You will not want to leave. Our place is most comfortable with 6 guests. The kitchen is basic, but gets the job done! The beach is well used on weekends during the day by locals from Tola and Rivas. From the second level palapa, watch life go by. Fisherman and women coming and going, lobster divers, tourists, and locals all pass by and wave hello. Please note, the house has a cat that stays in the outside areas, not in the rooms. He is old and unobstrusive, but he is at the house because this is his home too. Guest access The whole house is available for you Other things to note Please note, the house has a cat that stays in the outside areas, not in the rooms. He is old and unobstrusive, but he is at the house because this is his home too.

This place is genuinely special. The architecture stands out: it’s an authentic fisherman’s-style home with beautiful woodwork and a thatched roof that really captures the laid-back Nicaraguan coast. The space is warm, full of character, and the indoor-outdoor flow is something you just have to experience. The main area is great for cooking and hanging out, especially with the Argentinian-style parrilla. We grilled fresh red snapper from local fishermen. The kitchen has everything you need, so hosting meals and spending time together is easy. The rooms are comfortable, with reliable AC, hot water, and thoughtful touches. The décor is relaxed and the house has all the essentials. My favorite spot was watching the sunset in the upper deck room. The location is unbeatable, truly beachfront. Walk out the gate, and you’re in clear, calm warm water in seconds for a swim. World-class surf breaks are just minutes away. This place is a rare mix of authenticity, comfort, and location.

The house was ideal, loved the layout and Mathew was amazing, and gracious. The playa is a gorgeous little fishing village with a really fun hike and amazing views up the hill on the south of the beach. The only thing we didn’t realize is that Gigante is one the most popular beaches for the locals on holidays! It was filled with literally thousands of people, they were camped out in front of the house most of our stay. This isn’t necessarily a negative, just not the peaceful experience we were looking for and it stung a little more because we paid a holiday/premium rate of over $700 per night😖 Rookie mistake on my end!!! That being said, we would really love to go back and stay at Hannah’s place when it’s not a holiday weekend and when the rates are more reasonable.

THE place to stay in Gigante! Our second time here as a family of 4. We just love this home and are grateful for all the amenities offered in a part of the world where conveniences don’t come easy. Great communication, hospitality, all the things! Thank you!

Great place, very rustic, but that’s what I wanted. The hosts were fantastic, incredibly friendly and helpful. The main common area is bigger than seems in the pictures. There is a road between the house the the beach, so bit of traffic there, but otherwise relatively quiet with the exceptions of Xmas and new year where it seems the whole country comes to this beach for partying… Will be back!

Phenomenal experience. Hannah’s place and Gigante in general are truly special. Indoor/outdoor living right off the beach is hard to beat. We can’t wait to come back

The house was everything as detailed and a great space to live in. My family stayed there over 3 weeks and it was super to have the beach / surf so close. Sleeping to the sound of the waves will be very much missed. If planning to stay make sure you stock up on groceries as there are quite limited offerings in the village but that’s also common to Nicaragua. The hosts were super helpful in pre-stocking some supplies for our arrival. They linked us to lots of activities taking place in the village and surrounding areas and was always on hand to give advise and guidance for any additional needs, via a text/ call / in person. Would thoroughly recommend anybody staying in this place in the future as you become part of the local community there. We stayed in a gated accommodation after and although a nice place it’s nicer being immersed in with the locals as you are staying at Sunset Heaven. Thank you Hannah and Matthew for all your support for me and my family while staying in your place.
