Casa Uprimny, a Historic Colonial Mansion inside Cartagena’s Walled City. Winner of Colombia’s National Architecture Award. For groups of up to 9 guests or families with children. No central air conditioning – but the high ceilings, fans in all bedrooms, and the refreshing pool keep the house cool and comfortable year-round. The space The house is accessed by a long hallway with three bays that serves the service area, the staircase, and ends in the main patio around which the social area is located. In the main courtyard, there is a pool, trees, and plants. At the back, after the living room, there is a small patio with plants that provides atmosphere and ventilates the house's ground floor. The staircase leads to a large two-room lobby separated by an elliptical arch, which serves two bedrooms and the balcony around the patio. On the walls of the lobby, in front of the staircase, 17th century wall paintings were restored. On the floor, 19th century cement tiles were recovered. The main alcove, on the left side of the staircase, is in the space where the living room of the colonial house functioned. It has Mudejar-style coffered ceilings and a balcony that runs towards the street from where you can see the passage of the horse-drawn carriages that today transport the thousands of tourists who arrive in the classic Cartagena full of architectural jewels and history. The sound of horseshoes striking the stone of Don Sancho Street evokes bygone times when horse-drawn carriages were the means of transportation for Cartagena's high society. This is a room with a double bed and private bathroom, as are the 3 additional rooms. The second bedroom, on the right, is accessed through the hallway and is ventilated and illuminated by the gallery to the patio. It has 2 beds. The inner balcony or gallery serves the third bedroom, which has 3 beds. Next is the staircase that goes up to the area of the two terraces, which is reached through a hallway with a service counter. On the 1st terrace there are 3 sundecks with an outdoor shower, an ideal place to isolate yourself amidst the charm of the roofs of nearby buildings. On the 2nd terrace is the viewpoint that offers a majestic view of the city center, especially the dome of San Pedro Alejandrino. From there you can see the sea in its grandeur, the same one that Maestro Obregon looked at from what was his house, diagonal to Casa Uprimny. This place is the favorite to enjoy the sunset with the coolness of the sea breeze and its musical sound that envelops the senses. The 2nd floor closes with the fourth bedroom, which is very spacious, with a facade and balcony running over the second patio. A totally unique decorative sector stands out with three large wall paintings, elaborated under the temple technique during the first decades of the 17th century, located in the “halles” of the upper floor.
