Important Information for Visitors
Welcome to Santa Teresa, a unique surf town surrounded by jungle. This is not a city but a special place with its own quirks.
Power and Water
- Occasional power outages occur. When the electricity is off, water (which is pumped), WiFi, and hot showers (electric) will be unavailable.
- Outages typically last between 10 minutes and 2 hours but may be longer during storms.
- Suggested: light a candle, take a walk, and relax during outages.
Air Conditioning
- Please turn off the air conditioning when you are not home to conserve power.
- Excessive use can cause overheating and power cuts.
Security
- Always lock all doors and windows when leaving.
- Use the safe for valuables if available.
Cooking and Utilities
- Cooking uses propane tanks, as Costa Rica has no gas pipelines.
- Tanks last a long time but can run out unexpectedly; spares are provided, and assistance is available for replacement.
- Hot water is electric, not gas-powered.
Food and Insects
- Leaving food out attracts ants. Store all food inside the fridge or sealed containers.
- Ants do not appear immediately but will come if food is left exposed.
Toilets
- Do not flush toilet paper due to the lack of a drainage system.
- Use the bin provided next to the toilet for disposal.
Wildlife
- Expect to encounter local wildlife such as ants, geckos, lizards, spiders, mosquitoes, roaches, mice, bats, snakes, and occasionally a non-dangerous scorpion.
- Remember, these creatures are native residents; humans are the visitors.
Final Note
You are in a remarkable place—raw, authentic, and unforgettable. Embrace the experience with kindness and openness, and enjoy your time in the jungle. Pura Vida!

Nice apartment within walking distance of Playa Carmen beach. The Santa Teresa section of the beach can be reached on foot in less than 10 minutes. The property is located a bit off the main road, but thanks to the check-in video, it was easy to find. The property is equipped with everything you need. Unfortunately, the apartment is a bit dark, and the walls to the neighboring apartments are very thin. Still recommended for a few days of surfing, though.

You pay for an Airbnb to have a quiet and comfortable stay, not to arrive at 9pm and not find parking where it was said there was in front of a river, much less having space in the house and that the owner simply left a mountain of dirt that was left from the construction and you can't enter. A gate without security and a padlock. There was nothing as basic as hand soap, dish soap that doesn't cost much. The refrigerator doesn't close properly. Everything else was great

Great place to stay at in Santa Teresa, very central and walking distance from the beach. We loved staying here and know where to live next time in Santa Teresa!

Great location, really enjoyed the porch. The apartment itself is super dark. It shows windows for both rooms but the second bedroom has no daylight and moldy walls. The place is clean but poorly constructed so you have termites, mold and just a lot of humidity issues. Location itself was great, super close to everything and we had a great time.
